    In an attempt to have a better understanding of what makes a makes a remote start 'analog' vs 'digital' so I can determine which one my vehicle is, I've discovered there are very few references cataloging remote starters across the web including the manufacturers themselves as 'Digital' and 'Analog' Remote Starters .
    Is this essentially another way of saying....
    Analog = High Current ignition = Key Start
    Digital = Low Current ignition = Push Start (sometimes Key start?)
    Push start (PTS) vehicles are always Low Current ('Digital') but Key Start can sometimes be as well (evident if the ignition wires are lower gauge)?

      Yes that's an excellent way to summarize the vehicle. You are correct.

    Hi Anthony, thanks for your video. I'm very glad I watched your video, it's extremely informative. I have a 2018 Honda CR-V with Push to Start. I'm very confused as to what starter I should be getting for my vehicle. I've been to different shops, who carry starters from different vendors (iDataStart, Viper, Compustar, etc.) - like you said, the end result is the same regardless of what starter I buy, so the conversation is centered around what type of remote I want, not so much what product works best for my car. Do you have any recommendations as to what product would work best for my car? And any recommendations on shops - I live in Calgary. Thanks.

    My name is Artie .I have a 2004 silverado 2500hd. I installed a viper 4105v. Everybody thinks i have a key chip, I do not I have a coded lock cylinder. The remote starts without an Interface or bypass but i am adding a Idatalink ALCA only because i want the interface to control the door locks, so i don't have to go into the doors and wire reversing relays. If you start the Truck with the remote the lights would come on not flash and the truck will start. If you shut it down and use the remote start again the lights will not come on unless you open the door, because the ignition to the radio and window switch is on . My question is what format does the viper 4105v use so i can flash the ALCA.

      ADS protocol. You don't have a chipped key but there is a factory immobilizer. It detects it based on the key cut.

    Great Video Anthony with good clear easy to follow audio a cut above what most youtube videos are like . so now on to my question I have a 2017 Ford Transit Custom (UK model) would a viper 3203v along with a DB3 all work in this vehicle oris there a better way to go with this vehicle?. I see there is a new DS4 viper range out now what are your thoughts on these new systems ? and this will be a DIY install so what would suit me better Cheers

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  7 лет назад

      Mark E DS4 is probably a better solution for you. This isn't a DIY product though as you need a dealer login alone just to program it and set it up. I highly recommend visiting a local authorized Directed dealer for product like this.

    • @marke293
      @marke293 7 лет назад

      Thanks for your reply Anthony I have been doing a lot of research on this alarm installation and as you know its a minefield . I looked up directcehs.com today and saw that the DS4 is not compatible with my vehicle so was thinking of the Viper 5706v as this has a D2D port that would make for a easier DIY install with the DB3 All. Is this a better way to go for my vehicle ? I will not be using the R/S section of the 5706v which also makes me think the 5305 v will do the same job ? The only reason I am thinking of the 5606v over the 5305v is that it has a better looking and rechargeable remote and newer technology which way would you go ?
      Thanks Mark E

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  7 лет назад

      Mark E I think all the new 2 way remotes are rechargeable now. If you're not going to remote start look into the 3606 paired with the DB3. It will still use the D2D plug.

    • @marke293
      @marke293 7 лет назад

      I have just looked at the spec of that 3606 and it looks like it may do what im after but its only a one way system. And when you look at the viper website it does not mention any of these products that we are talking about so is there a 2 way system without the R/S but with a D2D port onboard ?

      Early 05 I believe is thick gauge (did they use the relay pack which I don't like using) while the later half is thin gauge. Your truck might say 05 in the door but might be designated a 2006.
      If it calls for a relay pack I just use a regular analog Viper like a 4204 with a DBall. If it's the newer style (the headlights and dash are different) then use a 4X10.

      @@AnthonyJ350 I do not have it installed Yet , I just have this Alarm. I was told it needed the immobilizer module so I bought the Directed DB3 with it But had to send it back because they failed to flash it for me. I shipped it out Saturday and they won't see it till Thursday so I have some time to look at my options for the immobilizer

      Yes we tend to black out wiring in the underdash or loom it black so it looks more uniform and blends with the factory wiring.

      On the Ram's I take 3/4" loom and loom the wiring with the shifter cable so people don't notice it.

      DB3 is just the latest platform. DBALL2 is still being used though for some applications.

    Is all viper remote start plug and play

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  6 лет назад

      Sort of. Some vehicles you still have to install a hood pin and you have to hardwire, lights, horn and sometimes door pin for R.A.P. shut down. They also require dealer logins to program.

      +Ray Gonzales I still do a lot of heavy gauge ignition vehicles. I just did a 2014 F-150 where it was thin gauge but a tradition remote starter with integration module did a better job than a purely digital unit. We're at a transition phase again. It's like in the early 2000's when you told people they have a chipped key, and 3/4 of the people thought you're making it up.
      Now it's about educating people that their computer controlled vehicle needs a digital based starter to work properly as opposed to the $98 special. Right product for the application. Installer just have to still know how to work relays and program for newer digital based vehicles.
