Just got a Radiolink remote with FPV and just have to say that your video is awesome and informative. I have subscribed to your channel and watched other videos of yours as they are great for learning about FPV, Crossfire and express LRS.
I did the old radio years ago that you did and was lookin to get back out n play I was looking at the RCX8 and found my way back to your videos and I see you got a new cool ELRS on the front of your RCX8 I've tried to find that exact one or updated one but to no luck. can you help once again lol
So the RC8X is awesome if you already have it. But if you didn’t snag one yet and wanted ELRS for the range / low latency, I’d get the RadioMaster MT12. It has ELRS built in, and can run nano modules if wanted to bind to a spectrum receiver. If you want to use the RC8X with an ELRS module, id grab a BetaFPV Micro ELRS module (the one with the screen). You’ll have to keep it under 100mw if you use the usb to power the module like I do, but that’s enough range for 99% of people 🤙
@@ChaddRainsFPV I have the RCX8 on the way ordered that sweet controller about an hour or 2 ago. Ill check out that betafpv. I want that so bad.. but there is no implementation of telemetry on the RC8X for any module at this time (even if you’re using CRSF to an ELRS or Crossfire module). I get telemetry in my OSD with some trickery (it’s really detailed on how to do it, and I’ll be making a video on it soon). I like to use ELRS modules with screens so I can peep some telemetry (mostly output power) when needed 🤙
RC8X are awesome! Are they better than the MT12? How's about a comparison video of controllers? I have a complete Vitavon X=MAXX with a 70120, 12s motor with 11" Primal Raminator tires. I am trying to set a good FPV system on it, an RC8X looks perfect for that.
So, if you’re going FPV and have the RC8X you’ll want to add a module. Crossfire or ELRS will have enough range but will require a custom cable in most cases. The MT12 can have ELRS built in which is nice, but will not be as nice to set up (the operating system is EdgeTX and it’s got a big learning curve, but is really capable). Hope this helps 🤙
Do you have information about tumb lever (RC8X)? What best ELRS module do you think is the best? I saw your os should be good. I saw the radiomaster too. Which you prefer ?

I like the radiomaster ELRS PWM receivers. Those have been great. Sorry, no info on a thumb lever. Though I bet there’s a 3D print for one 🤙
Hey Chadd. Quick question. I have the same radio and also elrs module. Would it be possible to have headtracking as well? I have the ble33 nano headtracking setup. It works on my Taranis, but that has EdgeTx. Will this remote support ppm or subs input as slave? Just like a trainer port would do on the Taranis. If not then I will have to get the new Radiomaster MT12. Just came out today and has EdgeTX and internal Elrs, but no color touchscreen or gyro on the rx’s. Any input is appreciated. You have amazing videos. Thank You
The MT12 is the one to get if you need head tracking. Hoping RadioMaster sends one for me to review, as I helped contribute to its development directly with the owner. I’m a new subscriber . Awesome video and great info . Do you need the ELRS to get fast response time ? 0:53 The reason I ask is because I’m into drag racing and I’m looking for a good remote that’s not $700 thanks
Thanks for the sub!! Technically, ELRS offers the best response time and it will cost you around $400 (as you need an RC8X or an EdgeTX compatible drone remote), but it’s a lot to set up for a beginner. Most guys will not gain much by having the best of the best. Futaba’s remotes are already set up to be really fast and easy to use, but they are pricey and on paper they do perform worse than the RC8X and ELRS 🤙
Thanks for the review. It told me that this is way too much transmitter for my needs. I need something a lot simpler, as I wouldn't be using just about any of the features of this. I'm looking at using DSC with a PPM to ELRS converter. Is that something you have tested, and have any input on?
Right on! That’s what reviews are for. So there isn’t a PPM to CRSF converter that I can think of. I’ve seen Sbus to crsf, but all other radios use ppm output to their DSC port. So at this time, ELRS is only available with a CRSF input 🤙

@@ChaddRainsFPV nice! same here. my mojave is nearly ready to fpv. if all works out, i will release how to video and the 3d print files. hopefully the suspension is good enough to filter some of the bumps and make it drivable.
ive thought about getting one of these but im just not sure i would even use the fpv monitor on the tranmeitter... i think i would just end up using my goggles... and using a different module such as elrs or crossfire like i have on a radiomaster t16s i might just use that, because 250mw max with external power isnt all that much range wise, so unless i just really want that style of controller for rc cars, i cant really make up mind, haveing a variety of those already. i might just get a vista unit and use that? what do ya think?
The FPV monitor is not as nice as goggles so you’d definitely continue to use those. A vista will get you much better range, but will not work with anything other than DJI goggles. 250mw on ELRS or Crossfire will easily outrange any video system I’ve tested, so I wouldn’t worry about the power output. And as far as using the RC8X vs another remote, I genuinely think it’s better then just about anything else, but that’s just me. Some guys really like to use their ‘air remotes’ on RC cars and boats. Whatever you like to use is best, ya know 🤙

Chad great video can you verify something for me I see that there are a few of the radio link transmitters now that will work with crsf and Elrs. I also come from the fpv drone world lol. And have a bunch of Elrs stuff. And I want to set up my speed run car with Elrs. Also where can I purchase one of your usb power cables
I have just started selling the cables! They’re each a handmade cable so they’re a bit pricey. It’s about $15 in parts for the ELRS, usb and boost regulator version. Then I charge $20 to make it. I hope to get the price down a lot. I already work with a cable manufacturer but I would need to buy 100 of them to get a good price. Quite the investment. But right, the RC8X is the only one that I have confirmed will do CRSF output, so it’s the only one that will do ELRS. Almost all the other (very affordable) RadioLink radios will do PPM out, so crossfire modules will work with those. I will update if things change (I am trying to convince RadioLink to release a fw for older radios, but it may not be possible). If you want me to make you a custom cable, please reach out via my IG or email and I’ll get you one put together 🤙
Sup! That’s the Namimno module. It’s honestly average. I like the radiomaster modules much more, tho the lights and screen are pretty nice on the naminmo 🤙
@@Krazydremml I actually don't use modules now. There is a newer video about the RadioMaster MT12 on my channel that has ELRS built in. Way easier to use and still compatible with crossfire if you want it 🤙
Naa TBS works fine too! The radio can output just about any signal that an OpenTX radio can. So PPM, Sbus and CRSF. I swap back n forth between my ELRS module and my Crossfire Module 🤙
@@ChaddRainsFPV I’m asking can I use my micro tbs module? How would I connect it? I see you using the TBS lite module that has plugs and more ways to connect to it? So how does the Micro TBS Module connect?
@@FPVDiverBomber You just need a cable that plugs into the micro modules. I am trying to get them made by a manufacturer but they’re expensive. I’ve been making people these cables by hand but they’re even more expensive as it takes me an hour almost. The same cable that plugs into the ELRS modules works with Crossfire micro modules. The bottom pin accepts CRSF. I will update the picture in my description showing how the rest of the pin out is, so you can make your own. If you need a cable made, you can message me on IG 🤙
The FPV module is available from Aliexpress I think. My tests didn’t show it being very good. I recommend something like an fr632 and a separate monitor, unless RadioLink has a v2 coming.
@@Tech4geeks21st Nope. ELRS needs a CRSF input and only the RC8X is the only option at this time as far as ground remotes go. The RC6GS V2 can connect to a crossfire module as they can accept ppm. Hope this info helps 🤙
I’ve got an MT12 coming to check out now! The downside of the MT12 is its operating system. It will be difficult for most RC car users to use, as it runs EdgeTX which is centered around planes and drones. It has every single feature you could ask for at the best price too, but will be a big learning curve 🤙
@@ChaddRainsFPV Nice I can`t wait to see your review! No lol that’s just an analog receiver attachment on the radio. The screen is just really nice on the radio haha. It does not receive DJI or run the DJI fly app, so there is no way to get DJI video on the screen 👍
So just to confirm, if I connect a DJI 03 air unit to my RC car, non of the video will show on my transmitter right? But it still supports head tracking if I have a 2 axis servo gimbal, a head tracking module, DJI goggles, and the O3 air unit?
@@carlosravel Correct. There is no digital system (DJI, HDZero or Walksnail) that can be received by any analog receiver (including the RadioLink one). The radio will support head tracking no problem. But you can’t get full power out of the O3 air unit unless you have an FC or some way to unlock it. This will be a challenge if you use head tracking. I hope this gets you enough info to decide if you want to do it. I would make a tutorial but I have so many cool projects I’m working on now, it would be a really long time before I could finish it 🤙
@@ChaddRainsFPV you need to update :) the radiomaster mt12 will be out soon. elrs and egdetx onboard, firs of its kind, worldwide. making all other surface-remotes obsolete. no matter what: more range, more channels, fastest protocoll, most programmable...and yes: LED lights :)
@@RookieRotors I will have mine soon! I'll be doing a bunch of how to's for this!
@@ChaddRainsFPV nice! same here. my mojave is nearly ready to fpv. if all works out, i will release how to video and the 3d print files. hopefully the suspension is good enough to filter some of the bumps and make it drivable.
@@RookieRotors Nice! Come tell me when you post it! I'll share 🤙
ive thought about getting one of these but im just not sure i would even use the fpv monitor on the tranmeitter... i think i would just end up using my goggles... and using a different module such as elrs or crossfire like i have on a radiomaster t16s i might just use that, because 250mw max with external power isnt all that much range wise, so unless i just really want that style of controller for rc cars, i cant really make up mind, haveing a variety of those already. i might just get a vista unit and use that? what do ya think?
The FPV monitor is not as nice as goggles so you’d definitely continue to use those. A vista will get you much better range, but will not work with anything other than DJI goggles. 250mw on ELRS or Crossfire will easily outrange any video system I’ve tested, so I wouldn’t worry about the power output. And as far as using the RC8X vs another remote, I genuinely think it’s better then just about anything else, but that’s just me. Some guys really like to use their ‘air remotes’ on RC cars and boats. Whatever you like to use is best, ya know 🤙
@@ChaddRainsFPV i have v2 and older modified fatshark v2. but 250mw? no way thats a deal breaker mostly because its a aiir receiver on the ground. thanks for the info
@@matthewwilken2051 Don't stare blindly at wattage. The protocol and antenna matters a lot more. 250 mW to 1 W is only 6 dB.
@@lazyhominid i understand most that stuff, but the cost just cant justify to what im already using.. caddix vista, an fatshrk dom v3. is where i have stopped i do have a cnc express module with a set of receivers but havent gotten around to setting that up yet, most my stuff has crossfire tracer for penteration or crsf for range...the only reason i have elrs is because i hace a xiake800 vtol that came with a elrs 3.0. i probably wont bother to change crsf out for express in any of my quads unless its a new build or sthing. i wouldnt count on the video transmission keeping up with those distances anyhow. so i skipped the whole 03 and interga style goggles, as far as hd zero or walksnail goes. if i wanted a HD whoop maybe,if i was just getting into the hobby and didnt have what i already have that might be different but.....for now i dont expect to see much but OSD changes ....
@@lazyhominid i just imagine spending the money on this when i have ix12, frysky S.E xd9. tbs tango, radiomaster 16s max. and others. i use the cheaper flysky radio for some boats and cars. and i just use a monitor station i built dji v2 o2 fatsharks...... but i almost bought it
Chad great video can you verify something for me I see that there are a few of the radio link transmitters now that will work with crsf and Elrs.
Ayo What Is Called of that white ELRS? THE FRONT OF THE REMOTE? THAT YOU REPLACE THE CROSSFIRE LITE❤
Sup! That’s the Namimno module. It’s honestly average. I like the radiomaster modules much more, tho the lights and screen are pretty nice on the naminmo 🤙
@@ChaddRainsFPV For you what is the best ELRS?
@@Krazydremml I actually don't use modules now. There is a newer video about the RadioMaster MT12 on my channel that has ELRS built in. Way easier to use and still compatible with crossfire if you want it 🤙
@@ChaddRainsFPV ok
I have the same lasernut how can I get mines like this
I’ve got an overview of my Lasernut on my channel. I detail what I’m using and have links and everything 🤙
I want this radio, but only if I can use my old TBS Micro plug in,,, anyway to do that? Or will I need to go elrs?
@@ChaddRainsFPV I don't use IG much but, message sent, yeah I am thinking of getting a cable made by you, thanks
Where do u get the fpv cable
The FPV module is available from Aliexpress I think. My tests didn’t show it being very good. I recommend something like an fr632 and a separate monitor, unless RadioLink has a v2 coming.
Is there any good basic FPV rc cars that are compatible with this radiolink?
Nothing that is bind n drive, I don’t think. Though it’s really easy to add the receiver that comes with the RC8X to most cars 🤙
Can the remote run an ELRS via the usb-c port? I have an ELRS module that only takes input from usb-c.
No, it can only output to an ELRS module via the DSC port. I use the usb c for power only 🤙
@@ChaddRainsFPVcan radiolink rc6gs v2 connects to this namimno expresslrs ? please reply.
@@Tech4geeks21st Nope. ELRS needs a CRSF input and only the RC8X is the only option at this time as far as ground remotes go. The RC6GS V2 can connect to a crossfire module as they can accept ppm. Hope this info helps 🤙
@@ChaddRainsFPV thanks you helped me from making a wrong decision lol.
@@ChaddRainsFPV can you tell if TBS CROSSFIRE MICRO TX V2 can be connected with rc6gs with jumpers?
Would you still prefer this instead of the new MT12 from rádiomaster?
I’ve got an MT12 coming to check out now! The downside of the MT12 is its operating system. It will be difficult for most RC car users to use, as it runs EdgeTX which is centered around planes and drones.
It has every single feature you could ask for at the best price too, but will be a big learning curve 🤙
@@ChaddRainsFPV Nice I can`t wait to see your review! Before the MT12 I was sure to buy the RC8X just because of the FPV image in the radio, but it looks like it only works with that chep video receiver. I wanted to mirror the image comming from my googles (Cobra X V4) into the radio so everyaround me could see too but seems like it is no possible right?
Also I think that video receiver will not work very well for long rage video. If this is true I think I might go for the MT12 anyways haha
@@MakerVerse I can confirm, the only video receiver that works with the RC8X is not a very good one. I told RadioLink that we needed something better, and if they could make something I would do a review for it, but nothing has came out since.
The MT12 is going to be amazing, I'm sure of it. It has every single thing I asked for haha. I just updated the description to have a link to the MT12, and confirmed with RadioMaster that pre-orders will ship on the 27th. If you're considering getting the MT12, please use the link for it that's in the description of this video as it helps me a bunch. It's a tough radio to learn to use, but I'll be going over all of it; hopefully that is worth using my link for 🙏
I cant wait for your review of the MT12.
I use Radiomaster and taranis with EDGE TX and i love it. You will be forced to learn new stuff but its not that bad and you can apply the tutorials on the internet to EDGE TX
use losi lasernut?
Yup. That’s been the best mod size car for FPV imo 🤙
wait what? DJI FPV VId back to the radio??? ok, cant believ it but I'm watching
Hope this info helps 🤙
@@ChaddRainsFPV appreciate the reply. By full power you mean unlocking the full range of the DJI unit right? I don’t plan on taking the RC further than what my transmitter range is, but I guess it’s possible that the DJI unit won’t reach as far if it’s not armed like you mentioned
@@carlosravel Yup. Getting that MSP signal into the O3 so it thinks it’s in a drone and the motors are on is critical (imo).
I’ll have a video on how I do it eventually. But it’s a super detailed thing 🤙
WILL YOU PLEASE MAKE AN FPV/RC8X How-To VIDEO?! I would literally pay a consulting fee!
I would waste more money buying things I don’t need than if I just paid you to help me. Are you willing to hop on a call and help me out? I’m serious and would greatly appreciate the quick call/help.
If so, please respond. 🤝🤝🤝
Appreciate you brother,

Hey dude,
Can you find my email? It’s on YT. Send me a message and we can go from there 🤙
I received mine. I am. Dry frustrated:
1. No port to charge. You need to open and take the battery out all time.
2. Don’t come with charger. You need to buy.
3. You cannot rename the channels, like headlight, horn, etc
4. The voice is too artificial, you cannot change
5. It Is not easy to use
Points 1 and 2 are fair. Could use AA batteries but I get it. 3 could be addressed in an update. 4- you could change the voice the last I checked. Need to add a voice pack to the sd card. It is work so I get that could be frustrating. 5 I think it’s great to use. Best interface I’ve used in a ground remote. But that’s subjective, right.
Good to get some feedback tho. Thanks 🤙
So where can i buy all this ?
