You know that consuming wood isn't a bad thing right? it's effectively carbon storage, also the wood IKEA uses is fast growing coniferous tree's which are re-planted by tree farmers on an annual basis, the problem comes from using locked carbon from forests that existed millions of years ago and releasing it into the atmosphere.

A few years back, here in VA, they were suppose to stop plastic bags from stores to carry your plastics home with you. If you wanted your stuff in a plastic bag, your cost would have been $0.10 for each bag, to help clean-up plastics. NOPE, you gave it to us for free and now you are going to charge me for it! It never came to be, that could have been a good start!
All that changed was me paying for the bags. That i have always reused! Then later i bought nice bags to reuse. But covid wouldn't allow me to use bags from home! So now we are back to plastic. Why not paper? My current store uses paper. I reuse those also. Why not glass bottles? Instead of plastic ones? We loved returning them for cash back in the 80s

So let's put some adult technical validation to this subject. Fossil fuel is sourced from deep under ground by drilling deep wells and allowing the oil or gas to flow to surface. This is called the Petro Chemical Industry or the Oil Business, it provides Energy, Chemicals and other products refined from fossil fuel processing. If Oil and Gas is removed from our world, we won't have all the chemical derivatives that make up the multitude of adhesives, resins and materials that supply the technical world with essential material. Let alone the fuel to feed our global transport business of people and freight. Let's be frank, do we want to stop this in a hurry or approach a transition with sound and intelligent planning to prevent a crisis of shortage? Lastly and critically, we need to transition away from fossil fuel and embrace renewable energy from solar, tide and wind, possibly fusion ? But let's allow the Energy sector who are experts in this field to develop and implement a plan, albeit under pressure to perform from well informed groups who are impassioned. Having our children throw their toys out the pram and embracing foolhardy protests is wrong.

@unitedwestand idealism is good to only some extend. Because Idealism and reality does not often walk hand in hand. We can dream that all wars will end and all become vegans and all love each others and we find magical energy source that does not pollute and runs 8 billions people's societies but it will never happen and even every change takes time. There will always be 2 side of the coin, that's the nature of life and humans.
What comes to climet change, as long as China and India do not make any effort to reduce pollution and stop over population we are doomed no matter what effort western World would do to stop it.

I have talked about climet change now 20 years but also lived in India. When u experience the pollution there and see the Un caring attitudes of people there and slow change and their economy is all the time rising and growing which means more and more of those billion people start to have money to fly in their cheap airlines and has cars so on u understand the battle is lost because no bird flies with one wing. They also procreate like no other and nobody cares about nature or that there is streets kids everywhere... They do more and more and throw their garbage to the rivers and oceans.
