one COULD argue that SSSS.Gridman winning the Seiun award for best dramatic presentation is the third time a Tokusatsu show won the award (since the anime is based on and adapted from Gridman), and Ultraman Z being the fourth time it won.
Anime is definitely something different. I think tokusatsu and anime both have different production constraints that allow for wildly different types of storytelling. While tokusatsu can be very imaginative, it's still often limited by what's possible with a weekly TV show budget bound by the rules of reality. Even the cheapest anime can immediately have characters in settings or pulling off actions that might take a tremendous amount of work in tokusatsu that may not even be worth it. SSSS. Gridman is 100% a sequel to the original show, but I think it's also taking that world to a different medium, which is sort of what it's all about there, what's possible in the digital world vs what's possible in the "real" world and all that.

Out of the four, I've only seen Kuuga and Dekaranger, but I absolutely love them. I actually haven't seen any Ultraman, so I was planning to start with the original series or Tiga, but the clips you showed of Z got me really interested in that. It looks pretty beautiful.
I think what he meant was the first proper police Sentai. Timeranger was about 4 cops from the future who got stranded in the year 2000 and almost can't return, we rarely see the police organization. When you see Timeranger it's the time motif that was the most important, not police.
I’ve yet to see Z, I’ll certainly seek it out. Bzut I’ve seen Kuuga and Dekaranger. Kuuga certainly deserved all the accolades. Even watching it two decades later it still seems to fresh and different from any other Rider show. I like Dekaranger, it oozes confidence and style and the cast really holds the show together for me.

Now your back I feel I really need to get back into watching rider again and other toku. I’ve only show I’ve seen of these is Kuuga. While it isn’t my favourite rider show it holds a special place in my heart. My favourites are Build, OOO and Blade. I think Kuuga is objectively one of the best mature takes on a super hero show without ever being edgy at any point. Godai is such a strong character and his arc is super well done in the show. I love how being Kuuga is slowly taking away a little bit of his humanity every time he uses his powers and slowly changed his personality. I feel like the only thing that holds the show back for new viewers it’s a little slow based even compared to Agito from the year after. Which I really need to finish at some point.

one COULD argue that SSSS.Gridman winning the Seiun award for best dramatic presentation is the third time a Tokusatsu show won the award (since the anime is based on and adapted from Gridman), and Ultraman Z being the fourth time it won.
Yeah but anime won the award isn't really unusual.
Anime is definitely something different. I think tokusatsu and anime both have different production constraints that allow for wildly different types of storytelling. While tokusatsu can be very imaginative, it's still often limited by what's possible with a weekly TV show budget bound by the rules of reality. Even the cheapest anime can immediately have characters in settings or pulling off actions that might take a tremendous amount of work in tokusatsu that may not even be worth it.
SSSS. Gridman is 100% a sequel to the original show, but I think it's also taking that world to a different medium, which is sort of what it's all about there, what's possible in the digital world vs what's possible in the "real" world and all that.

Out of the four, I've only seen Kuuga and Dekaranger, but I absolutely love them. I actually haven't seen any Ultraman, so I was planning to start with the original series or Tiga, but the clips you showed of Z got me really interested in that. It looks pretty beautiful.

Correction Dekaranger was not the first sentai to be a police drama. Technically it's Timeranger
I think what he meant was the first proper police Sentai. Timeranger was about 4 cops from the future who got stranded in the year 2000 and almost can't return, we rarely see the police organization. When you see Timeranger it's the time motif that was the most important, not police.
I’ve yet to see Z, I’ll certainly seek it out. Bzut I’ve seen Kuuga and Dekaranger. Kuuga certainly deserved all the accolades. Even watching it two decades later it still seems to fresh and different from any other Rider show. I like Dekaranger, it oozes confidence and style and the cast really holds the show together for me.

Now your back I feel I really need to get back into watching rider again and other toku. I’ve only show I’ve seen of these is Kuuga. While it isn’t my favourite rider show it holds a special place in my heart. My favourites are Build, OOO and Blade. I think Kuuga is objectively one of the best mature takes on a super hero show without ever being edgy at any point. Godai is such a strong character and his arc is super well done in the show. I love how being Kuuga is slowly taking away a little bit of his humanity every time he uses his powers and slowly changed his personality. I feel like the only thing that holds the show back for new viewers it’s a little slow based even compared to Agito from the year after. Which I really need to finish at some point.

Because Wizard is his Favorite Rider so of course he won't make his favorite weak but he wants to make other People's Favorites look weak , Kuuga was nerfed on Super hero Taisen stuff、W was nerfed on that Shitty ass Sengoku movie battle、Den-o and Zero-one was nerfed on Super hero senki movie、Blade and Ex-aid was nerfed on Zi-o、Agito , Kabuto and Fourze was nerfed in super hero Taisen GP、Faiz was nerfed on Kamen Rider Taisen movie and Yongou、OOO and Drive was nerfed in Chou super hero Taisen、Build was nerfed on Heisei generations forever (he actually nearly got Killed by super time jacker Tid)、Decade was nerfed and dead in rider time 2021 , Ryuki , Hibiki , Kiva , Gaim , Ghost and Zi-o was never nerfed By Touma but I Include them cause it would make the things more complete. Wizard was nerfed after his show? NO! Cause He is Touma's favorite so he isn't allowed Haruto to lose , Too bad beyond generations have Kuuga , Agito , Ryuki , Blade , Kabuto , W , ooo , Fourze , Drive , Ex-aid , Build and Zero-one cause all of these guys were also nerfed by Touma. I am just making some justice for Kuuga , Faiz , Blade , Den-o , W , OOO , Fourze , Drive , Ex-aid , Build and Zero-one that got Nerfed by Touma/Saber by others beating the shit out of Wizard who is Touma's favorite rider that he never nerfed , Also Haruto has a lot more fighting experience , even if you count just the show length. Because Haruto had been a rider for a year before his first episode. It's hard to live in the world where Kuuga , Faiz , Blade , Den-o , W , OOO , Fourze , Drive , Ex-aid , Build and Zero-one always get beat up but the Wizard doesn't just because they are fan favorites of the shitty ass Touma and Sakamoto Koichi. The take away from this Decade , Wizard , Zi-o and Saber will forever be OP , get cool appearances , kick ass and most importantly , never job. Evidence Wizard has never struggled since his own show.
