Wonderful to hear Eric perform this song again. It's one of my favorites, ever. The guitar solo sounds ethereal. We're blessed Eric is still with us, and he still has passion for his music.
I have so much love and respect for Eric Clapton. The battle with self is the greatest battle we all fight in this life. We are all evolving on a daily basis. Carry on Eric!
I love the man dearly, but the passion in his voice and playing are becoming rarer and rarer. I always think the last time I really got goosebumps from him playing was around 2010. Ive seen mosyt everything there is to see, and every new video I keep hoping and praying shows me something to suggest hes fighting father time but it just isnt there anymore, not to the level I used to expect.
Earthly mothers where are you ? your child has called a thousand times, earthly mothers where are you, to procect them from harm. They can't wait, they can't wait any longer. Earthly mothers, where are you ?!?!
You are both correct. Not only did Eric write this song as a tribute to the memory of his friend, Richard Manuel, he did get the inspiration for writing Holy Mother after watching the movie Purple Rain. Clapton had said that watching Prince in Purple Rain had helped inspire him like a "bolt of lightning." Clapton has written some of his most beautiful songs from his most painful life experiences.
The story of what brought Eric Clapton to write this song is the stuff of faith and legends. It has saved the souls of so many in their darkest hours.
This song has saved me so many times. Sending love to Eric and whoever listens to this masterpiece(:
Right back at you!
Erics greatest song pure raw and truth. ❤ maintains my sobriety ❤ ForeverFan.❤

The solo from Birmingham 1986 or with Pavarotti were way better.
where have i been? This is the first time I have heard this song, it may be one of the best melodic songs of Rock History!

ardozier well said
Amen 🙏
What really surprised me most is that Eric still can sing this sang just as 1996. It's very hard for a person used to alcohol, smoke and drug.
Who has God and Mary in his heart....nothing will be impossible
Eric plays for keeps🎸💕not so much from the heart but more like from his soul. Top player.x
EC had not performed this publicly in quite some time...I was there this night to hear him play it...magical
So was I!
Happy birthday my ❤️ 😊love this show😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Earthly mothers, where are you ?!?!
I loved!
Very rare to hear him playing this nowadays.
I love how he ditches the capo at 3:27
He wrote this after watching the Purple Rain movie.
No he didn't he wrote this about the Loss of his dear friend Richard Manuel and dealing with his addictions .

EC says that Purple Rain inspired this song.
