Absolutely stunning mate..well done..love your stuff..always inspiring me. Update on the new lathe..i have now bought a steady rest, the coring jig, a hollowing rig and a shed load of carbide tools. For the love of god, don't ever meet my wife!!!.....🤣🤣
You're not the only one that's followed Jim's recommendations for turning tools. Between the Oneway vacuum chuck system and coring system and a couple of the Hunter tools he's recommended, I think I could have bought a new truck. The good news is, they all work as advertised and were worth the investment, but Jim better not meet my wife either.
I really love the walnut shell faces. I really like all the ones you've done with shells and pinecones and so on. I feel like they have more character because of the way you see them differently (walnut shell "faces," pinecone "flowers," etc.). Such a beautiful piece this week!
Definitely one of the wildest pieces you've done. Been anxiously awaiting this since you posted the teaser the other day, and as always it was well worth the wait. The nuts kind of look like individual pictures from a CAT scan showing different levels through the skull.
Omg right? I thought the same thing about the CT! I named the "creepy" face Creepio, and those are his CT results. ^_^ ...But couldn't comment for some reason. idk if today's comment mentioning it actually posted.
I have never watched wood turning before and this has absolutely mesmerized me. It's like watching magic and I will definitely be back for more. Greetings from the UK
Jim that is AWESOME,the burls are stunning, it's a piece that would look wonderful in a Tuscan kitchen.😘😘 Jim I hope and pray that the fires in Canada will soon be under control and that you and yours are safe, the devastation is truly awful.sending love and prayers to canada.🙏🙏🙏🙏
Right? What a pairing of two gorgeous burls, and then the walnut sections, and the resin bringing it all together - with a little extra zazz via colour, glow, & sprinkles! And that narrow collar piece is such a beautiful piece made with exemplary skill! (I hope I'm using that word right. Brain fog!)
Hi Jim, What a great looking 👀 peace of Art, That was a lot of monkeying around 😂 you have got to face 😂it, that took some work. I look’s amazing 🤩, 😂. I look 👀 forward to seeing your next project, I did hear 👂 about the fires up in Canada, from a couple that has got a small holding in the USA , they could not go out side for long, as for a lot of smoke 💨, I hope you are all keeping safe and well, Phil from the moulin France.
Jim this is awesome! Doing those casting often don't go as plan, but resolution is always an opportunity to take the "design" a step further, and this is week project is certainly showing that! I LOVE it! Have a great week! 😊
Sweetness! That is a super cool hollow form. Love the faces, the look of the wood and the surprise with the glow in the dark bits. Super fun, unique piece!❤
Another spectacular project, Jim. I like the Designer Epoxy "feature ring" with the walnuts. Some of the facial features remind me of Michael Keaton's Beetlejuice character.
Amazing hollowform. Yet another project that you have hit out of the park! I really don't know how you manage to consistently keep 'one upping' yourself... but I'm sure all your subscribers and viewers alike are glad that you do. Have a great weekend Jim 👍
OMG, OMG, OMG, Jim!! This turned out absolutely magnificent!! You have created a truly beautiful piece of ARTWORK!! You should be very proud of this piece!! Thank you for taking us along on this journey!
Man, that's a lot of prep, but was it ever worth it. What a gorgeous piece. And you're absolutely right about the chatoyance.....spectacular! At the risk of sounding redundant, I don't think there's one of your videos that hasn't provided with a tip or good idea. Thanks.
That's a very nice hollow form, the walnut shells make it unique. I was particularly impressed with how the resin with resin pieces blended with the red resin to eliminate any witness line.
Even though you edit your videos so people watch them through, but it is nice that you leave as much as possible. It shows us just how much care you take in your projects. The walnut faces look like Jack Skelington from A Nightmare Before Christmas 😮🥰
I am always finding half walnut shells that squirrels bury in my garden. I always think they resemble owl faces. Yours look like the Grinch to me! Very fun piece.
I love the little grinch faces 😂 the contrast between the wood and the resin is amazing and I especially love the green specs of glow in the dark above the purple. Amazing work
Absolutely amazing looking hollow form. The faces turned out great. I really like the fixture you made for holding the nuts while cutting them. Definitely going to make one for my next project. Once again, great job Jim 👍👍👍👍👍.
VERY cool indeed! I agree with another commenter that each walnut shell looks like a slice of a brain scan, which I think works perfectly with the scary faces, the colour scheme, and the general theme. And the burl is truly stunning! Thanks Jim, this was a really fun watch!
I’m amazed at the variety of materials that you use in your projects. You show what you’re going to use and I think “how is he going to make that look like anything”. But you never cease to amaze me. Thank you for the hours of entertainment Linda
Jim the walnuts looks like the grinch face 😂😂😂😂. I love your gadget for cutting the walnuts 😊. I'm glad you put a glove on to protect your hand from the resin your turning on your lathe. I really love your walnut smile face hollow form vase it is magnificent and unique well done you really are talented. Thanks for a fantastic video from Amanda xx
Love this, especially with the bits of resin added. It kinda looks like it was added to begin with. They just look like they're suspended in the red. Such a cool effect. Also very cool how it glows. Fantastic piece as always😊
love those walnut shells... so neat looking with the faces... some of them look like Grinch smiling faces... LOVE love love it... good save with the second resin pour ... almost looks like you meant to do it...
I absolutely love those laughing faces! It makes me feel good. We all need a little good feeling. Those black walnuts really make that a beautiful piece. I also love the red in it. It's beautiful!
This one is very very cool. What a good idea - you obviously put so much time and effort into placing those walnut shells individually and then sealing them with the UV resin but the results speak for themselves. Thanks for sharing - all the best!
Beautiful work. One idea I had on the rim inlay was to twist the two wires into a rope so it would be stiffer and can hide the ends underneath. Keep up the great work.
This is such a fun piece i love the grinch faces - the glow in there is cool too - glad you put the little pieces in there too add to it as well - such interest one piece
Incredible the pieces you create with nature's creation! Who would have thought to use the shells in a design with beautiful pieces of burl. Thanks for sharing your creativity and artistry! Absolutely beautiful. Look forward to seeing the next creation .... Black walnuts in pound cake and ice cream ... 😋💦 .... my father would use a walnut cracker and use side cutter wire snips to collect the nut meats to eat and sell. Thanks for bringing back memories. 🌞
I’ve been busy building a bridge during the last few days and am late watching your video producing that stunning piece. My favourite part, as usual, is at 40 minutes when the first coat of finish is applied, and the beauty shots at the end. Stunning as always, Jim and thank you for taking the time to share your expertise 🌞
Awesome looking piece Jim! Love those laughing walnut pieces even though they were a lot of work. I was on edge as you were cleaning up the inside. Thank goodness it all held together. Cheers
Just watched the video and this hollow form turned out beautiful. The wood grain really shows up nicely . I find the pieces that give me a bit of a struggle usually turn out much nicer than planned 🤣. Be well
Jim. You are sooo creative! It’s so clear that you can see the little picture and the big picture. And you have the tenacity of a bulldog. This piece was waaay, waay cool. The chatoyance was better than awesome! I especially loved that the edges of the two pieces of wood did not match. Worried me for awhile-I was still thinking inside the box. After clawing my way out of the box I saw that everything was going to work. And it did!!!
Watched the premier this morning, but had to get to work and couldn't comment. Beautiful piece Jim, loved the glowing faces. Your designs always amazes!
Absolutely stunning piece. Colour is wow and those faces they make the piece. I love how you do the pour and it doesn’t work but you keep trying and it all comes together ❤
I absolutely adore all of your projects but I believe this is top 3 only to the simplicity of your twig n rim inlays. Wish there was a way to cast burls with the loose wood and debris. I lean rustic…. Sending luv, appreciation and mad respect from Oklahoma, USA and your SO CLOSE to 100k!!!
Very original! I was thinking it was going to be a grinch hollow form at first , however when they were cast they all looked very different. Love how this piece turned out . I always learn something thank you for sharing your talents ❤️
Amazing, fabulous piece - so very cool. What a huge amount of work but it paid off brilliantly. Love the new Blood Red colour. Another stunning piece and a really interesting video. Stay safe
Hi Jim just wanted to say I really like your latest hollow form onion shaped burl vessel ,and that designer epoxy combined with walnut shells really looks cool especially when you used the black light inside with those little bits of glow in the dark pieces .It's a really great effect 👍👍Keep them coming !!!
