Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show I'm your host Paul and Harwin Strong has got it going on...but he's dead now so we're moving onto the next one with Episode 7 of House Of The Dragon having a lot going on in it.
Throughout this video we're gonna be breaking down the brand new trailer and also disuccsing what we think is going on due to the books. Because of this there will be heavy spoilers here and I'm not cutting my tongue out to hold the secrets on what happens. With that out the way, thanks for clicking this, now let's get into House Of The Dragon 7.

Ok so the episode seems like it's playing fast and loose with a lot of the events from the source material and combining a number of things in one location to potentially pull together numerous plot points. By the looks of it the majority of the episode is taking place in Driftmark around the time of Laenas funeral.
This is a big event in which a characters gets her dragon Vhaghar and the houses separate even further.
We open with her sarcophagas which is based on ones used in ancient egypt. You can see the seahorse sigil on the bottom which belongs to the house and also a strong focus on the hair which the Valeryons were known for.
She's then given a burial at seas with the coffin being dumped into the ocean similar to how the navy might give someone a funeral. Corlys had amassed the largest navy in the world which explains why he'd carry things out this way. Next we see the family standing together and this combination of characters makes me think that most of this episode will take place in the one location.

Viserys doesnt see Alicent as his wife that's why he can't see his own sons as Targaryen heir...even when Raenyras sons are actually bastards. Because Alicent is not Aemma, any sons that she produces, are bastards in the eyes of Viserys. He always feels guilty for the death of Aemma, and that's what Alicent can't accept.

Are they really bastards? We know that they are Rhaenyra's kids, the sons of the princess. They are targaryen as much as Aegon

@@iasminadobre4412 it's implied in the book, and though you are right about rhaenyra still being their mother, in this universe being born in wedlock determined a lot, even if it was a high lord and a high lady having a child if it was out of wedlock the child would still be considered a bastard and not stand to inherit.
What an utterly boneheaded move not to have at least one heir with Laenor. She made her situation far more vulnerable.
Maybe they tried and she just didn’t get pregnant. There are only so many times you can try with a man who doesn’t like that 😂. But that’s an assumption
the scene after they're out from Alicent's room implying that Rhaenyra is open for the possibility but it was Laenor who didn't want it (?) idk.
but Daemon had her back with having Velaryon children kinda secure the allegiance for Velaryon.

Did you hear his sister Helena when Aemond was talking about being a dragon rider. She said you’ll have to close one eye. She wasn’t speaking directly to Aemond but it gave me a wee shiver.

Don’t know why but it just hit me… it can obviously be believable to us that a Targaryen could be born with brown or black hair. The one we know of is John Snow.
I was thinking this too. And Viserys had children with Allicent who is not a Targaryon..so her kids are just as much Targaryon as Rharnyras.. right? Minus Rhaenyras being out of wedlock.
Yeah but in that case, Jon has a dark haired mother. In Rhanyera’s case, Laenor doesn’t have dark hair (and adding more detail with the casting) and to adding more insult to injury, the kids are white where Laenor is tanner skin.
A good example in the books is Ser Baelor “Breakspear” Targaryen, great-great-grandson of Rhanyera, who was born dark-haired due to Dornish mother, Myriah Martell
Its all genetics, like what if there's non-homologous recombination 2x...lol

If you remember the scene where Alicent,Aemond and Helaena. I am pretty sure there was a reference to losing an eye indirectly
Halaena is a dragon dreamer for sure just like Viserys, Daeron The Drunk, Rhaegar and Daenerys
That's why her dragon's name is Dreamfyre

The new actors really killed it in the last episode and the new trailer just makes me more excited to see more of them!
Since I’m watching this straight after the breakdown. The fight scene on stairs is probably Laynor and the other dude, that went with them to driftmark at the end of last ep. In this it appears as Laynor has the upper hand, but from what you said about that dude killing Laynor it probably ends bad for him.
I kinda hate Alicent now... she knows her words has power and acted all innocent after all that
seems to have that trait from her father. he was schemeing for years to get his grandson on the throne and suddenly acts like they are the victims. just like she then did to aegon, when she tells him he would be seen as a threat to rhaenyra while also telling him to become that threat even though he never intended to be in te first place and rhaenyra wouldn't have had any reason to see him as one if he had been loyal. it's not like lords could support his claim if he never made that claim. pretty messed up logic by the hightowers

That is what Jaherys did when he was in a similar problematic situation.. Jaherys supposed to name Rhaenys as the Queen but to avoid problem, he name Viserys instead
Viserys trying to be a people's pleaser is the origin of the Dance of the Dragons
Prince Aegon made sure to stand in the balcony so he didn't have to worry about shooting his eye out.
I'm so sad to see Harwin, and laena go ,but Rhaenyra, and daemon needed to be reunited she need his boldness arrogant, and strength.

I love how Alicent looks at Helena like girl I JUST DONT GET YOU. . . even when she was a baby Alicent seemed distant while holding her. Helena is gifted with sight. Hate what her future brings in the story

I was happily excited to see how they made Vhagar this epic, grizzled, aircraft carrier of a beast dragon! The work put into each dragon has been excellent. The colors, design, sounds, giving them all a personality. I really want to see Vhagar lay waste to something, anything, like when Drogon laid waste to the Lannister train or Kings Landing!
The CGI used in episode 6 was terrible. vhagar didn’t look all that bigger than caraxes. In reality, he’s supposed to be 2-3 times that size. Dany’s dragons in GOT look considerably bigger than most dragons shown here.

rhaenyra's kids are maybe bastards but they are definitely not plain in comparison with the weak children of alicent, not to mention rhaenyra's kids are strong for their age

In the books he never liked his nephews Aegon and Aemond because they pushed him back in the line of succession. So he already doesn’t like Team Green for that reason alone.

my biggest gripe is how does alicent feel rhay children not targaryan and surprised the eggs hatched bc the father isn't targaryan or valerian but she isnt neither lol all the children are half targaryan and honestly the king shouldve said this shit but they were so worried bout what the rest of the realm would think bc that was always the thought. some of these things could truly be avoided with proper communication lol

Hes not in Season 1, as hes in Oldtown. Rumors are from the set is that they mention Daeron is off in Oldtown being a squire, and that he will show up next season, much like Stannis did in GOT

It just dawned on me, how come Damon wife didn’t survive when her dragon breathed fire on her? I thought all Targaryen were immune to the fire? Was it because she was valaren , which I thought hereditary were the same as Targaryen ?
The characters I hate so far are all the lannisters I've seen so far, Otto, Alicent, Lary's and recently Ser Crispen Cole.

I think it’s actually the Valeryon on twins telling jace. They are close cousins and probably all stayed the night together playing. The girls notice first then jace wakes up so they tell him. Just what I think 🤔
I was really expecting Laena’s newborn baby to be in the ashy remains from the dragon fire. I thought Targaryens can’t be burned, is it only some of them like Daenerys? I thought it would have been a fantastic solution to their problem rather than a honorable self sacrifice.
Daenerys was the only Targaryen that was fire proof in the books it was a miracle or something. Bc when she went into the fire with her dragon eggs the witch that also was burnt stuff happened with her magic and blah blah kinda forgot details but ye

King V would rather have his bastard grandsons in line for the throne than to see Otto's plan come to fruition. Otto killed King V's father, manipulate him while holding The Hand of the King position, tried to ruin Daemon his brother and pushed his daughter into a position of power. He is purposely denying "Allicents'" kids from the throne. Five years...

I cannot help but think that Daemon is involved with Laenor's death somehow. I predicted this sometime ago, because he is in Daemon's way of marrying Rhaenyra, who I think he promised her on the dance floor he would come back for her one day. It also looks like Daemon is fighting the guy who was sword fighting Laenor. Daemon could be trying to save Laenor or he could be killing this guy to silence him. It's Daemon! Who knows? But, that's what I think.
Yep! Daemon will have Qarl kill Laenor then he will kill Qarl to keep the truth from coming out, this is one circumstance that surrounds Laenor's Death in the book.
All she had to do was make laenor give her ONE MALE HEIR. Laenors head isn't where it should be . If he paid less attention to whoring around and focused more on securing his lineage and his duty , rhaenyra wouldn't be left so exposed and vulnerable . She was just as reckless and irresponsible as well . Both went over board with their deal to fucm whoever they want that they forgot that if they didn't produce at least one heir , they'd be giving alicent all the grounds and ammo necessary to plot in aegons favor . Almost makes u feel for alicent even tho the strongs are Targaryen through their mother and house strong is a noble house , the boys are bastards and Westeros would see that as an abomination. This story will be really sad and so many things could've been avoided had they had a little more devotion towards their position and duties .
otto convinced alicent that rhaenyra is a threat to them way before rhaenyra had any son at all. having a male heir with laenor might have not prevented her from conspiring. their main argument was that aegon, as the first son of viserys, would be the first in line for succession. so there is no guarantee she would have accepted a son of rhaenyra and laenor, since he would be seen as the heir to an illegitimate heir

You totally skipped over helaena targaryen having psychic like powers when she said Aemon would have to lose an eye to get a dragon. She said it while Aemon and Alicent were talking about the prank that was played on Aemon with the pig. Is that in the books bc I can't remember it.
*Aemond, not Aemon. And nah, I’m pretty sure that specific line of hers was not in the books from what I can recall. It’s been a long time tho. She could possibly be a Dreamer like her ancestor Daenys! That would be dope.
