Ok so House Of The Dragons is about to do a big ten year time jump that will pick up far after the events of episode 5. We also have two of the main characters recast and I love how the show has gone from debating who the true heir is to now who is the true Rhaenyra and Alicent.
The trailer for episode 6 has a lot going on with it and throughout this video we're ognna be breaking it all down and going through what we think is gonna happen based off the books.
Because of this there's gonna be big spoilers so if you don't want anything ruined then I recommend that you turn off now. Pledge allegiance to Heaverys Spoilgaryen by hitting the thumbs up button and don't forget to smash the thumbs up button like it's Lady Rheas head.
With that out the way, thanks for clicking this, I'm gonna play the trailer first and then we'll get into everything that happens in it.

Ok so we pick up ten years after the events of episode five. We open with Caraxes aka Daemons dragon and learn that he's fled to the stepstones with Laena. The pair have had several children together and in the book though she was initially due to wed someone from Bravos, Daemon murdered them so he could take the spot.
The pair had two children including Rhaena and and Baela, the latter of which was named after Daemons and Viscery's father Baelon.
Laena seems to have already had the one and be pregnant with another though this could end up being the third child that the pair had which led to a big tragedy.
Now even though episode 5 ended with Viscerys collapsing we see that he's still alive and kicking a full decade later. Though I knew what happened to him in the book, I actually thought that they'd changed it up a bit and killed him off earlier than they had in the timeline. Even with the timejump he's still here though he is extremely week. You might notice that he's sitting down during every shot in the trailer and this is because he ended up being almost unable to walk due to the disease taking over his body.
Paddy Considine recently cleared up that this is actually a form of leprocy and we've recently done a video discussing his comments with entertainment weekly which will be linked as the pinned comment. Anyway this is starting to cover his face and he looks like how I feel after staying up until 3am to post out our 20 minute episode breakdowns.

It's really unfortunate that they are doing these time jumps. There is enough content to make this last many seasons. The time jumps make it seem like they want to cram 5 seasons into 2

I was just telling my husband that Viserys has the worst doctors ever !! They never get anything right. The doctors were wrong when it came to his wife and child. They were wrong when they said the maggots would save his fingers and I doubt the leeches will do anything for his aggressive leprosy

I knew Criston was going to be an issue when he tried to use marriage as a way to fix him breaking his vows. No mention of love simply “I broke my vow so how about you break yours so I can feel better.”
As great as Milly and Emily were in their roles, they would not have convincingly been able to portray mothers to several children each.
Also I think Olivia and Emma look great and will be amazing as Alicent and Rhaenyra.

@@nn-hx8oe well I mean considering they’re 18/19, the ten year time jump will make them 28/29, and the civil war is approx. 2 years so depending on how much time progresses in final 5 episodes, the characters could definitely be nearing 40.

I'm glad they changed the actors half way through. Would have been weird to see these younger actors with teenage children of there own.
Honestly just knowing that Viserys lives for another 10 years at least makes me quite happy.

I’m sorry dude but there is no amount of makeup that would believably make Milly Alcock look like someone who could be a mother to nearly grown teens. Plus the two main actors as you call them were actually cast after the adult versions. We should at least give the adult actors a chance before we go wishing that the others had been the only ones playing the characters
I feel these episode's are showing that Viserys is losing allies in the court due to suspicion of dishonesty. First he lost Otto because of his marriage to Otto's daughter Alicent and them having a male heir. Now Rhaenyra's who has had coupled with the son of the hand of the king which may make another of his loyal servant two-faced.
Usually the suspicion costs you more if you're not straightforward about it, and he straight up explained everything to Otto in reasonable terms when he fired him and seemed to do it out of his distaste for having to do anything cruel about potential plots. He even managed to repair his damaged relationship with Corlys by never lying to the man and leaving the door open for diplomacy.
Rhaenyra is actually the one who's deceits have cost her relationships, despite however us viewers might feel about her chasing her own passions.

How is Cristen Cole walking around? As in, how is he not imprisoned for killing a man for no legitimate reason in front of a crowd of people in the middle of a wedding celebration?
Been trying to figure it out since I saw yesterday's episode.
could easily say he insulted him and it was like a duel and that's it... yeah it's Laenor's lover, but he cannot also say that ''he killed my lover, so he must die''. Seems like Westeros is tolerant of gay people in kinda ''don't ask don't tell'' way, but surely if he openly said it he was angry cause of his affair... Also Corlys and Rhaenys probably are kinda happy he is out of picture now, same as the King who would also know the rumors... and Alicent on Cole's side and perhaps Rhaenyra too bacause of her guilt. So only poor Laenor remains who really cares.
Alicents backing, Im sure lord Corlys is not too sad about it either.

Laenor's lover was doing way too much he should of chilled and enjoyed the festivities 😮💨.
I just hope people grow to love Emma and Olivia as much as they did Milly and Emily. It must be difficult having two separate casts and the older cast has likely already seen the online hate towards them even though they haven't even been on screen yet. The reason for an older cast has been clear from the start and we've known they were gonna get an older cast half way through for a long time. Idk I just don't understand the hate towards people we haven't even seen in action yet.
What the casuals don’t know is, neither Laenor nor his parents EVER said Jace, Luke and Joffrey weren’t theirs. I think this also goes to why Rhaenys has Targaryen hair in the show instead of Baratheon black like her mother Jocelyn…to make certain things VERY clear to non-book readers.

really good for a 3am, 20 min video. This video and the breakdown for this episode next week I feel will be so so important. Sometimes it gets confusing with all the characters and alliances, etc (especially with the time jump).
I love how they gave sunfyre's wings the pinkish-colored membranes. The scene is too dark to really tell just how vivid the coloring is. Sunfyre was a beautiful dragon with gleaming gold scales and pale pink wing membranes. In the sunlight his scales shone like beaten gold
I hope the recast works too cuz I really liked milly Alcock as rhaneyra
I'm excited for the Alicent recast. She's a much more powerful actress and no way would the younger one be able to pull off as mother to teenagers down the line.

You'd prefer a 20 year old playing older with kids nearly their age? That makes zero sense.
The age up might not work. But it had to happen.
If money and production wasn't as issue they should have tried de-aging the older actors. But that is a lot of work to say they are in 70% of scenes in eps 1-5.
I will miss the actresses playing Alicent and Rhaenyra, but I have been excited since before the show started to see Olivia Cooke from Bates Motel portray Alicent, I think she will do an excellent job in the role. I am unfamiliar with the actress portraying Rhaenyra, but we shall see! As always, love the breakdowns!

OMG the King Ben meme is hilarious. As soon as I saw episode 5 last night, I realized that the race of the Valeryons was strategic, because of the conversation about the tea. I wish I knew what Alicent knows regarding the tea. At first i thought she would interpret the tea as being needed to take care of Daemon's baby. I kinda wish they had let that run for a moment, before Cole confessed.

It's a great breakdown but I wanted to fix some points, Daemon and Laena had twin daughters, so the child in her belly is baby number 3 and probably her tragic end
Aemond's losing eye is not this episode's story, it will happen later in Laena's funeral, whole family will be in the stepstones(it can be seen in the trailer)and Aemond will try to steal Vhagar but he will caught by Rhaenyra's son, they will fight and he will get stapped through his eyes, Alicent will be mad and try to attack Rhaenyra(again in the trailer)
The kid Aegon kicked is Lucareys, Rhaenyra's second child and the kid who stapped Aemond is also Lucareys not Viserys, Viserys is Daemon and Rhaenyra's son, he is a Targeryan and he will be born at the end of this season

it does make sense to not have the same actresses for the whole series and swap them at this point, given that this was the first half of 3-4 planned seasons, and basically just a prequel starting with the girls aged around 14. if anything, they should have de-aged the older actresses, but that might have been pretty weird, too.
The source material spans several decades, do you want to wait for that long?

For clarification, just because you have a half black parent, doesn’t mean you will automatically have black features, especially when that black parent is biracial. In my family alone, there are 2 blue eyed gingers - one parent is half black half white. Looking at features on a person to see if they’re “black” can be offensive. I get it often and it’s very annoying!

Y'all need to chill about the recast. From what I can see so far from the trailers, Emma and Olivia are slaying their characters. Credit has to be given to Milly and Emily. They have delivered excellent performances so far but it's time to pass the mantle.

I think it is deer or a similar animal, it is put there so that the dragon learns how to hunt or use its fire energy properly, seems like we will see the training phase of the dragons by the dragonkeepers because Jacareys, Rhaenyra's son is with a dragonkeeper when he says "dracarys" and they probably teach him how to control his dragon
There was so much put on the King to pick a new heir yet how many years have gone by and he's still alive and kicking? I know in the book its a bit different, but I feel like pushing him to chose an heir in the show when he still had so many years left in him (which I know, can't be predicted, he could have died anytime) feels a bit odd. Maybe it's because the show is flying through the years so quickly.
After episode 5, I am sooooo eager to see what's to come next. Including. What possible (new) alliances/allies will be formed and what deceptions are going to take place?

Am I the only one who thinks Daemon is the best character?. He’s played so well by Matt Smith!!
He kinda lost me killing his wife like he did. Nothing grey about that move i'm really surprised because George like his grey characters which Daemon is supposed to be but they seem to just want to make him a typical bad guy.

They better make Sunfyre shine golden instead of making him some drab yellow. The reason everyone loves Caraxes is that his design is unique. I'm afraid HotD is going to play it too safe and all the dragons will blend together and become clones of their Drogon GoT design.
They already mentioned that the dragons will have 3 different designs.
So far Caraxes looks the most unique because it was described that way in the book.
Meleys and Seasmoke seemingly have similar designs, reminiscent of Drogon, Viserion and Rhaegal.
And Syrax is a different design.
We can only wait and see what the others look like. The details of the Dragons will likely be dependent upon how much screen time they get, according to the importance of the rider and the fights.
The showrunners have explained that there are 3 varieties of dragon in HotD. Some will inevitably look like the ones that we saw 'later' as Drogon, Viserion, and Rhaegal. I believe Caraxes was given a particularly unique design, independent of the others...iirc he was described as being weird-looking with his long neck, so it doesn't sound like Caraxes is a species, but a freak.

Exactly! And also, the old version actresses were cast first and the young versions only cause they look like the old. I don't get why people think aging technology and makeup would make these young girls look in their 30s and 40s. It would look bad and wrong.

One correction of something a few HotD breakdowns have said: Harwin's _already_ called "Breakbones" when we meet him in F&B (and likely by extension HotD). After Criston fucks him up, Harwin is known as *"Brokenbones."*

The change in actors was necessary. Teenagers do not look like mature adults, and it would take a big chunk of the show's budget to age them up for 2.5 more seasons.

Not fireproof. They just have a higher resistance to heat and fire. Fireproof-Dany was something the show runners of GOT came up with. In the books she's not mentioned to be fireproof either. She survived being burnt alive during Khal Drogo's funeral because she had unknowingly used blood magic to protect herself and hatch her 3 dragon eggs by sacrificing Mirri Maz Duur.
