Hi Gordon yes we had a lovely time!! Pity the bass weren’t as big as we wanted but we are always complaining as anglers!!😂 Thanks for watching much appreciated cheers Ian
You got it in a nutshell there!!! So pleased you enjoyed the video…. There are bigger bass out there but generally at night! Thanks for watching cheers Ian
Hi mate yes a fantastic surf beach and crystal clear water!!! We usually fish it at night and the bass average 1-2 lb but in daylight a bigger one was a struggle but nevertheless great fun!!! A session soon would be great!!! See you soon cheers Ian
Lovely to hear from you!! My rod is a Penn Tidal 420 …. 14 feet Optimum casting weight is 180g but can go higher or lower! I love this rod for beaches and Chesil but a bit undergunned for rough ground. Had double figure hounds easily and heavy cod too. Great bite detection Thanks for watching cheers Ian
Hi Ian how right you are!!! We both had a fabulous day in magnificent surroundings and couldn’t ask for much more!! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment much appreciated cheers Ian
Pretty brave fishing any South West beaches during daylight this time of year impossible in Cornwall right now great session none the less you both have a lot of patience now you don't have patients 😁, as always best wishes Chris in Cornwall 🎣🍻
Hi Chris yes I retired last week so now we can both bombard you all with lots of videos 😂😂😂 Fortunately the beach is 3 miles long so we avoided the worst of it!!! I’m sure it’s much worse down your way!!! The pun was terrible by the way 😂 Thanks again for watching cheers Ian
Ah you must go fishing there but maybe not in the school holidays!!!! Next time you go take your rods! We usually fish it at night when the bass much bigger generally and a better chance of catching a ray too. So nice to hear from you again cheers Ian
Really enjoyed watching Ian . Good signs of healthy bass stocks . Tight lines to you both and looking forward to seeing more videos as the autumn approaches .
Hi mate so pleased you enjoyed that one! A bit different from usual but what a superb beach!!! Tight lines Leighton thanks again for watching cheers Ian
Great to see a new venue and thanks for sharing. We all can get a bit obsessed with Chesil and the Bristol Channel marks. A bass double shot on the same pennel rig is pretty unique !! Enjoy retirement guys
Hi lovely to hear from you! Yes we are trying to spread our wings a bit now we have more time on our hands!!! Glad you enjoyed the video thanks for watching much appreciated cheers Ian
Hi Paul it was nice to fish a bit further away than normal…. It was a superb surf just a shame nothing of any size materialised but nonetheless we had a brilliant time!! Thanks as always for watching cheers Ian
Great video, as always Ian, Chris. Nice to see so many bass about. The beach reminded me of Brean and Berrow without the pea soup!! Cheers and tight lines.
Hi Nick the water clarity was amazing… the sand is much heavier than up channel and drops out even in that surf so quickly…. The downside is that the clear water deters the bigger fish in daylight unfortunately….. we usually fish there at night and the bass are usually much bigger!!! Thanks again for watching cheers Ian
Hi Ian yes I think if we fished at night we would have caught for sure….. we have had them there before and at croyde too in darkness. Hope you’re doing well mate!! Thanks as always for watching cheers Ian
Hi Matt nice to hear from you! It actually fishes way better at night but for the purposes of a nice video we decided on a daytime session….. I would definitely give it a try sometime!!! Thanks for watching cheers Ian
Great video guys, as you say it's great to see such a healthy stock, didnt notice any lug casts there Ian, not like your local, ha, we fished brean In the boat the other day plenty of thornies a smoothound and 1x 3lb bass
Hi Keith no lug on that beach…, we brought some we dug on Brean the day before…. The bass certainly liked them!! Well done on your boat trip…. We going local in a week or so I think!!! Thanks as always for watching cheers Ian
Thank you Ian always look forward to your videos mate ,Chris is definitely more chilled after retirement bless him good luck to you both iam bit of a fan ,maybe one day I would love to have a fish together, iam a keen fly fishing man and love to bass fish , love to fish over low water ,thanks again for making the effort with the video 😊
Hi Richard so nice to hear from you again!! You would be more than welcome to join us! I retired last week too so more videos hopefully! We also enjoy fly fishing on Blagdon and Chew but haven’t done a lot recently as the sea fishing is so addictive!! Glad you enjoyed the video thanks for watching much appreciated cheers Ian
Cheers mate!!! We going to give Morfa a go this weekend so wish us luck!!!! Hopefully these strong winds die down soon and we can get some fish!!! Thanks for watching cheers Ian
Lovely conditions Ian, and nice to see so many healthy bass around. I thought there would be lots of surfers . That was the beach where I had my first experience of surfing and failed miserably. I tried fishing at Hive recently but too many paddle boarders, but managed to see a large seal, some dolphins and to really take the mickey a shoal of mackerel swam by just a few yards out. Stay safe and tight lines. Mike
Hi Mike At each end of the beach there were hundreds in the sea but fortunately we only had the odd surfer and swimmer in front of us and it didn’t put the fish off! Like you I’ve never been able to stand on a board ever!!! Holidaymakers are unfortunately a summer hazzard!!! Thanks again for watching much appreciated cheers Ian
Hi son definitely worth a go!!! Fish from low water up with lug and you’ll bag up….. and always the chance of a big one!!!! We must get out together soon Love dad xx
Hi lovely to hear from you!!! I think daytime fishing made our chances of a good fish low but we still had a great day out!!! Thanks for watching much appreciated cheers Ian
Hi Gordon yes always love catching bass they are such beautiful fish!!! Just so nice to see so many out there…. There must be thousands of them just in that bay!! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment cheers Ian
Nice to hear from you! We do normally fish there at night in chest waders and a carp rod actually but you can’t film in those circumstances unfortunately. I thought a day session would make a nice video but the bass in dark are generally between 1-2lb so that’s what we will do next time!!! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment cheers Ian
About 'Grokles'... In West Wales grokles is used too, but in Cornwall, 'Emmets' ( ants in cornish i believe). Just wondered about origins & regionality...🏴
I live just outside wsm in Bleadon and any holidaymaker is a grockle to us in Somerset I will search Wikipedia for more information I think!!! Cheers Ian
@@ianclarkfishing Please don't put yourself out on my behalf, I was casting a net if you like to your viewers/ subs to see what comes up. Thanks for your response 🌊🐟💨
Hi lovely to hear from you… yes a really lovely surf beach with magnificent water clarity!!!! No rods on your honeymoon what’s going on????😂😂😂😂 thanks for watching cheers Ian
Hi David mine is the 420 14” I’ve had it about 2 years now and for clean ground and Chesil I can’t fault it at all…. Bite detection brilliant casts well nice and light but can handle big hounds cod etc easily. A bit undergunned on rough ground but it’s not designed for that. I’m a fan of penn gear it’s generally good value for money. Thanks for watching cheers Ian
Hi great to hear from you!! We do something similar there into darkness but filming that would be virtually impossible I think but we have caught in the past with lures in the surf…. But more chance of a bather than a bass on the day we went 😂😂😂 Thanks for watching much appreciated cheers Ian
Well done chaps
Cheers Carl hope everything ok up your way!!
Tight lines mate all the best Ian
Great video. Looked immense fun. Well done,a cracking day.

You’d have been better wearing chest waders, PFD and using lures, so much more fun and more chance of a big girl.
