Hi folks, Thankyou so much for all the lovely comments, and for watching this little film. In such a fast paced world, it’s great to see that there’s appetite for long form, more sedate films. I have some similar projects on the go and can’t wait to share them with you soon. PLEASE SUBSCRIBE. 🙏🏻 Much love. ❤
In 1971 I was 11 years old and spent a night in the hotel with my parents and brother. Mum from Gloucester and Canadian father. Beautiful fishing village and i hope it never changes.😊
Beautiful, these people have the best answer to living a healthy, happy, peaceful life. Beautiful. I lived in Clovelly in Australia, I think this place looks much nicer.
What a beautiful short film, lovely music as well. I live on the Welsh coast, so I really appreciate this. My wife and I are planning a British road trip for this summer, hopefully we can find some more beautiful places to visit.
Wonderful video, I noticed the date of it is 2012. I truly hope that the individuals portrayed are still with us. The small villages and their inhabitants throughout the world could show us city folks what is important and what is not.
Live further up the coast at Porlock and after ten years I still love to pull the curtains in the morning and see the sea in all its moods. Nice film👍🏼
What a fantastic short film. As both a recreational boat fisherman and a lover of the Bristol Channel and North Devon Coast, it was fascinating to momentarily connect with the local way of life and their own deep connection with the sea.
About 1964 a mate & I slept in my mini-van in a dark carpark - in the morning looking over the edge we discovered Clovelly, way below, and scrambled down a path behind folk's gardens disturbing a few wakeful cats. You've brought back such memories. - Are the donkies still used on those steep cobbles?
Ha, what a story! Perhaps you were on the Hobby Drive. It is closed to regular traffic now. Yes, the donkeys are still there, but they are very much a tourist attraction only. Thanks for sharing!
What a fantastic film. A beautiful part of the world I’ve been so lucky to have visited many times. The Devon and Cornwall coast is breathtaking. Thank you.
Enjoyed the video, i visited this village a few times 25 years ago, i see that cobbled street still looks on the hard side (stoping for a pint or 2 made it esier on way back up)
Beautiful! Every word spoken is true. I’m fortunate to live by the sea, let my dog run on the beach and take my sailboat to the Frisians islands and build boats 😊
It's very powerful, beautifully powerful! I decided not to become a full time fisherman, I did a spell as a shrimper in the Ribble estuary, amazing place, sailed, sculled used the fast flowing currents, then fave it up to become a full time potter and then gave thst up to tour the world as a performing pianist. I live the sea, now I swim in the sea all year round and Im in my sixties...tis a good Life!
Great little film. My ancestors would have stopped off as Bristol Pilots for shelter and supplies in Clovelly although Ilfracombe was a favourite! Listening to the fisherman about respecting the sea brings it home… My 3rd great grandfather was lost just around the bay off Ilfracombe in January 1849 with 3 other men. The village of Pill, Somerset which was home to the Bristol Pilots since 1497 lost many men and boys whilst seeking for ships in the Bristol Chanel. His pilot skiff was called the Echo and his name was James Cox. I’m heading down channel in the summer on my own boat from Pill so I’ll be sure to stop off weather permitting for a few jars in the pub. ⚓️🦈
The Red Lion will certainly welcome you with open arms. 🍻 Fabulous insight, thankyou. If you know the coast, as you clearly do, you’ll know the safe havens when the weather freshens. Always welcome in Clovelly ❤
@@Beachsidermud still here and is part of Pill and Seamills for that matter! Ferry closed when M5 bridge opened around 1973/4 after many centuries of taking people across the river! Pill is slowly losing its community spirit after hundreds of years thanks to all the outsiders moving in! Something I never thought would happen 😢😢
@@PillSharks thanks for the update PS. I only crossed once, with my Dad, maybe about 1962. He wanted me to see it before it closed. I thought Pill would be doomed without the ferry, so I'm glad to hear it has survived. Of course Nowhere remains the same. Maybe it is 'incomers' keeping it alive - after all they could not move in without 'locals' moving out, unless new houses built. We lived in a small village in Wales- we were disappointed that nobody taught us Welsh as they were nearly all Incomers themselves. Our youngest did keep the local Primary School open for another 2 years though, so not all bad. I did a lot of repairs on the old barn and grew organic vegetables. I started laying the hedges with permission from neighbours, and the owners. But when confronted by the reality of my success in clearing brambles and restoring the old pond, where he had failed, he threw us out !! His children couldn't make a go of it so he finally sold it. 😂 haha. What a tosser. We finally emigrated to Ghana, my wife's home country. So I'm retired on 2 Acres of beachside, with 100 Coconut trees to look after.
Been their, several years ago...having never had a place to call home, I just kicked myself for my ignorance, of not knowing it was their at 60 yes of age...I could've easily settled their as a young man! A beautiful place!!!
Thank you RUclips for randomly offering me this video. If ever there was an antidote to today’s mad, corporate and politically correct world, this is it.
theres only one thing thar spoilt this beautiful video for me, the loud distracting music, i coudnt fully hear what people were saying , so had to finish before the end
@TimeandTideMediaLtd sorry I didn't mean to spoil by moaning, it is such a beautiful video and I was a bit frustrated. Its my problem I can't hear properly if there is background noise

Thanks for your kind comments. If camping, I can highly recommend Stoke Barton Farm, near Hartland, nr Clovelly. Starry skies and campfires…perfect

Liz sounds and looks like one of the nicest and most genuine of souls. Lovely video and very evocative of lost memories as a kid being by the sea.

Which one the Devon or Norfolk?
