wonderful. I visited Mingulay on the boat trip available from Castle Bay. Your video helped me relive it. The same frissons of wildness, permission, temporarily to visit deep water and sheer cliffs up front and personal. Privilege and raw beauty.
What a trip, the place looks amazing, I bet you thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you Bob for all the hard work you must put in to create these wonderful videos, places we otherwise wouldn't ever see. Move it along with part 2, I can’t wait! 😃
Loving you videos, been binge watching them lately here in Newfoundland. You have lit a fire under me to start doing some more trips next year ,sheltered solo trips is my desire.
well done on the solo adventure dude. nice film and YES i hear ya on the solo kayak camping. I also do lots of solo camps and i've taking some friends but its always more fun solo...
I could swear I'd seen this one Bob but obviously not! I so enjoyed it. You certainly carried my heart on your travels. I cannot thank you enough. So genuinely taken aback by it all. Thank you for taking us all with you. What is it with these islands... Scotland can feel mighty proud. Now onto Part 2... 3... 5..... 11..... Best wishes Bob. Safe journeys. Pam
Thanks Pam for the kind comments. This video is a re make of one Id put out earlier, but I wasnt happy with it so I took it down and re made it, so yes, you may have seen a version of it before
I have had several nights casting your adventures to my TV. Wow I didn't know how good the kayaking was around Sky. Rum, I visited 46 years ago on the Captain Scott Schooner, camping at Dibidil bothy. This didn't come has a surprise because i knew how stunning the place is. The sea cliffs at the southern end of your Outer Hebrides trip are something else. Love your vlogs, far better than David Attenborough
thank you for the filming perspectives, it puts me in the cockpit. I live in the middle of Kansas, in the middle of the United States. I am a "sea kayaker" as well and long to paddle in a place as beautiful and ancient as Mingulay. Thank you for sharing.
Fantastic paddling and a great video! It looks so easy even when you paddle through the narrow sections. Obviously, you're experienced paddlers. Tnx a million for taking the time and effort to make a video and share your experience!
Cracking, just the best adventure. The planning, leadership and decision making process in that adventure was great to watch. LOVED it. Looking forward to the next one.
Hi Bob, this is another brilliant video. This nature is incredible, I really have to come to Scotland again. Why else do I like watching your videos so much? It's her voice! Totally melancholic, sounds great. My wife says they should do documentaries on TV, like Volker Lechtenbrink did here in Germany :-) I'm going to get a whisky now! Greetings, Andreas🥃
Very cool trip ! And the GPS tracks are awesome too to understand the trip, thanks a lot ! I am looking at these videos from France, while planning a trip to Oban (with kayaks of course). What is the best website for tides information in scotland ? Thank you !
Hi, sorry, missed the last part of your messge.. there is a great site... tidelines you should get in in a searh, if not let me know and I will find the link. Cheers
@@getwet501 as a sea kayaker myself, and a keen camper, I am inspired by your content to get out more and explore this wonderful country of ours. Thank you
If my incredibly stable inflatable is not a toy, but has deck and rudder and can maintain 3kts for 10-15 miles, why could this trip not be done if winds are under force 4?
Hi Jez, who knows, perhaps, I guess all inflatables are not the same. However, such places are very isolated and exposed with very changeable conditions. Visiting such places with any degree of safety not only requires the right equipment but also, and more importantly, the right experience and knowledge to go with it. I could be wrong, but I would suggest by the time most people have that level of knowledge and experience to go such places, they would probably also have decided an inflatable wasn't the ideal tool for such a trip. Anyway, just my thoughts, stay safe and enjoy your paddling whatever you paddle and wherever you paddle to😁
Hi,I've white water Kayaked for many years, and always said I would sea kayak when I retired and had more time. I love the ability to pack a few days gear into your boat and head off to remote places... I would always recommend people join a club and progress that way, though that`s not how I did it😂
Hi, yes indeed. Gopro mouth mount. Very usable, makes it easy to stop and start camera and gives a realistic angle of view. Only downside is that it picks up a bit of heavy breathing at times!
Magical video , thanks for sharing. I love thinking about these places existing for thousands of years, while we scurry about.
Thank you😁 Yes, indeed, wise words, and visiting such places in kayak is a very special way of appreciating such things and these places
Watching you paddle through those chasms and arches was something else, as a kayaker myself thank you for sharing your amazing footage!
Thank you. Indeed its an amazing place to paddle
You are a legend! I really enjoyed watching this.
Thanks😂 very pleased you enjoyed it
Beautiful. Would love to explore there. Kind regards from South Africa.

Absolutely perfect spot for sea kajaking. So do you think thats it was also possible to do such a trip with an inflatable Kajak ?
Most certainly not.

Very Nice Thanks for sharing. Music from min 19 perfect! , Do you need a permit to go there?
Thank you very much😁 no permit needed. We are free to roam in Scotland
What kayak do you use Bob?
Hi, its a North Shore Ocean 17 Carbon/kevlar construction... Very happy with, handles well in all conditions either fully loaded or empty
Fantastic video. Wich map(s) do you use for such a trip?
Thanks, the map with the GPS trace on is Relive, which picks up my Garmen GPs trace, the other maps are just off Google maps with a bit of creativity
How did you get into sea kayaking Bob?

Bob, are you holding that camera in your mouth?
Hi, yes indeed. Gopro mouth mount. Very usable, makes it easy to stop and start camera and gives a realistic angle of view. Only downside is that it picks up a bit of heavy breathing at times!
