@@foshoscience6031 the thing with Core is it was a bit immature compared to Purple. Still an amazing album but I'm also on the Purple/Tiny Music team. They reached their peak there and kept a lot of momentum thorough No. 4. I love the rest of their work but those two are outstanding.
@@jeffersonaraujoelcristiano purple had such good hard rock mojo. But tonally and for being so different from the rest of that era, Tiny Music takes the cake for me.
Agreed. The DeLeo brothers guitar work just snarled throughout the entire album. Meatplow, Superman, Army Ants....the whole album just feels dirty and visceral yet beautiful. A classic
Eric Kretz is awesome. Quite unique. Kind of just behind the beat all the time but still in time. Like he's dragging the song along with him but pushing it forward at the same time. Really great drummer. Real power.
One of the best bands of our generation!! My Boy Scott can sing like no one else!! What a voice!! These cats throw down!!! Saw them in Billings - Montana and it was off the charts!!! My girl got too fucked up and passed out !!!
There will never be another like Scott. STP will never be the same.Kratz on the drums, the Deleo brothers on strings, and Scott. No,it will never be the same. At least we got to see them for awhile. Rest in Peace.
@@kcjamdab2155 i think its about heroin addiction, the paranoia and despair that comes with addiction, and the struggle to get back on track with regular life whilst combating addiction, but the lyrics are so abstract it could really be about a lot of different things
To me, this song is about Scott’s duality - his sober self is having a conversation with his heroin-addicted self. “Pig whispers sweetly” is the shameful half that calls him back to his addiction. He knows the drugs make him a liar, cheapens him, makes him jealous, among other negative things. This duality and internal turmoil is especially apparent in the bridge section, where he is having a conversation with heroin/his addict side but he is desperately trying to run away: Scott: Try to take my life Heroin: Wait for me Scott: Take a dive, take a piece of my life Heroin: and I’ll leave you numb Many think this song is about someone else, but I believe it is about himself: the Silvergun Superman. (Silvergun being a metaphor for a loaded syringe)
This was and still is an AMAZING level of music. Everything about this song/video kicks ass! Scott had a voice like no other. Robert's bass lines are beyond grooving. Dean's guitar sound/tone was right on point. Eric's drumming was powerful and tight.
Jesus.....over the years these guys may have had their differences and frustrations with Scott, but when they were all on the same page on stage there was no band better in my opinion.....R.I.P Scott, your talent and showmanship will be missed......
One of the aspects of most of the 90's 'grunge' & 90s heavy rock music that I loved is that bands were being authentic, creative, doing their own thing despite what the so-called 'experts' & critics said, they writing about their own range of topics/stories... AND their 'sound' included being unafraid to have epic, 70s 'stadium rock' guitar solos. All of this applies to this great song, but also to what we heard from bands such as Pearl Jam ("Alive" being the most obvious example..), Soundgarden, and so on! FWIW, this song, like the entirety of STP's first 3 albums, totally blew me away from the moment I first heard them, and nothing has changed since!
What a tight performance! Weiland was awesome of course, but a lot of us forget how the DeLeo brothers kick ass. ( the drummer guy too) this song stands out as one of my favorites. must have been an awesome show. I saw lots of bands back in the day but I never saw STP. at least I don't think so, 1994 is a little fuzzy
Without this tremendous bass playing foundation, this band would have limited success,,, no one ever attempted bottom end fills like this back in the day.,,,,,outstanding
Caught the Purple (this) tour back in 94 in Houston, strangely enough the Meat Puppets opened up for these guys. I get sad just thinking about never hearing these 4 play together again. My all time faves. May the universe take care of u Scott. Fucking Rock n Roll! 🤘🏼
I remember hearing this song for the first time when I was 14. Now I'm 40 and I feel like I've been struck twice by the same bolt of lightning. Pure magic. Also, I was the 1000th Like, pretty awesome!
I really like this song but especially this version, this video (it looks like a Tim Burton movie), this mystique, that mystery, that thick sound. I just love it.

Dean deleo is super underrated
@@monkeyliver1986 This solo on the recording one of my favorite solos by anyone ever - and that's a lot of solos!
Perfect for a movie soundtrack!!
I 1st heard this song in 2007 and I thought it was the coolest riff ever. This song is timeless and goes hard.
The tone they achieved on the Purple album is perfect IMO
Yes. I consider this their best album.

Sounds like the way John bonham did it too.
he pushes on transitions and fills
Agree 100% - I used to not appreciate his drumming but I came to love it.
totally agree..my brother is a drummer and used to cover alot of stp back in the day...he always said kretz was behind in a unique way
Perfect with Roberts bass playing
This song makes me feel powerful.
What a band. Purple defo a top 10 album of 90's.
Musta been a typo STP had 4 albums in the 90s not 10 😁
@dudemanjack98 That's not what he was saying anyways lmao.
