I totally agree. When they did the MTV or whatever it was, that was sweet to see him chillin in the rocking chair looking all cute and sweet. That voice!!!!
There is nothing better to cling to my man. The present is all we really have. As far as the rest.. I'm 48 and it's 3 am so the math works out. Do your best, forget the rest.

@@bogart7498are you joking? The live mixing with the overlapping “I’ll beg for you”, can’t be duplicated live. Sounds just like the studio version. STP always had PHENOMENAL live performances.
"If you should die before me ask if... you can bring a friend". Maybe the strongest line I've ever heard in the thousands and thousands songs that I listened to. Hits me everytime.
I think the lyrics 'If you should die before me ask if you can bring a friend, pick a flower, hold your breath and drift away" are one of the best lyrics ever written.
The lyrics, albeit a bit meaningless at times, contain one of the best one-liners in music history. "Take a bath I'll drink the water that you leave" and "If you should die before me ask if you could bring a friend" are absolutely brilliant.
You're right to pick out those two stand out lines, man. They're beautiful but the lyrics are actually poetic in my opinion! As he says at the start: "it's a love song!"
Me too... I totally fell in love with this song and this sweaty, sexy performance of it. He was the embodiment of male sexuality to me. I can't help it! God may he RIP knowing he was unconditionally loved. This is one of my favourite songs by them besides "Lady Picture Show", "Atlanta", and "Sex Type Thing" but there are so many good ones it is hard to choose.
@@opheliajade1986 How was it cheesy??! He was a beautiful man with a beautiful soul (this coming from a heterosexual man) and it is a beautiful, BEAUTIFUL song...! Here in 2024.....my fave STP song! Absolute banger...and this live version is incredible! Damn, Scott's voice is awesome and that driving Robert DeLeo bass is so good. Thanks for this gem of an upload.
Drugs do that but we would bot have this masterpiece witthout the drugs let's be honest and I don't mean it in a negative way its just the price sometimes.
Maybe the best love song ever written in a rock song... Simply divine, i always get emotional whenever I hear it and as enchanted as the first time...I've been listening to it for over 15 years. It doesn't get any better! Magic
I was at this show. The mother of one of my best friends, whom she wasnt all that close with, had something to do with booking acts for the fair this year. She had asked us who would like to see at the fair. Our first answer was Pearl Jam. We were almost immediately shot down. Pretty sure our second choice was STP. Months later, it was announced and we were shocked. She called her mom to make sure and she confirmed it... and gave her 4 tickets. She was kind of a shitty mom, but she was pretty awesome on that day. We were on the track, in front of Dean, all night. It was a great show! I saw them the previous summer, at Riverport in St. Louis, with The Flaming Lips and Butthole Surfers. Surfers blew them away, that night. Anyway... thanks again, Tiffany's mom!
Man, this band is killer! It’s so good to see this fresh material, Purple Era, Scott sound so like the Album and the band is killer. Dean, Robert and Eric such a Musicians. R.I.P Scott Thanks for upload! Greetins from Argentina🇦🇷
saw them on this tour...Scott sounded exactly like the album for the whole show...they basically played core and purple in their entirety...the only show where the entire audience sang every song at top volume that I've ever been to
The only thing in common btwn STP and the others was their album release dates... Old STP (Mighty Joe Young) did way different stuff like blues, funk, samba nova and Scott sang in a madrigal choir. SMH.
When this happened I was 5 years old, just a few days shy of turning 6. And this happened in Springfield, Illinois and I'm from Chicago. If only I could turn back the hands of time and be at this concert now at 34 years of age. That would be a dream come true ✨ I used to listen to STP on my iPod when I would ride the bus to work. Back in my early 20s and when I started working in retail. And this is one of my all time favorite songs of STP. This song just brings back good memories of summer. On my way to work and stopping by to get my iced coffee and listening to this divine song. Daydreaming about a love that's this worthwhile ❤️✨
Crazy to see Scott looking so healthy compared to the later years. Although even at this point he's about a year into his heroin addiction. One of the most, if not the most, underrated STP song. The day I bought Purple in 1994 it was instantly my favourite track on the album.
My absolute favorite STP song and I love many of their songs. Brilliant song. Lyrics are powerful and it’s one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
I love listening to Interstate Love Song and then this song after it. Both are next to each other on the album, they have a similar theme, and are my two favorite songs on Purple.
I love so many songs, but this one gets my heart. I love his presence and little dance, the beat and lyrics. It breaks my heart his struggle with mental health and drugs. I wish he was still with us. Can you imagine if he wrote this to you??? RIP dear Scott.
One if not "the" most overlooked and underappreciated songs by stp
Absolutely agree. This song hits me like no other. I have the line "Pick a flower hold your breath and drift away".
Abso fucking lutely
Absolutely. 100% spot on
Spot on comment. The lyrics are a work of art.
Always been my favorite
Scott and Layne had the best and most moving voices of the 90s . No one can compare.
Can't forget about Chris Cornell
Indeed sir
Chris Cornell!
Jeff Buckley without question rules all but much love to Scott and Layne.
Hey, addicts made most beautiful songs😊
