It just that the line of "Gear doesn't matter" becomes "You can do EVERYTHING with what you have" these days, while it should mean "You can start from what you got"
What I think is special about your video Chris, is not only did you replace your bag and stuff but you were gracious enough to create a video that helps us cut through all the overwhelm of all the gear choices and narrow down to the ones that are proven in the field. Happy to help out, I gave this video a good old fashion 👍🏼
Totally agree. Gear definitely matters. That being said, I feel like knowing the gear that you have really really well matters even more. You could go out and buy the best camera in the world but if you don't know how to use it to its full potential then you're not going to get as much out of it compared to someone with a cheaper camera who knows exactly how to get the best image out of their camera. Gear matters, but the best gear is the gear you have already!
Absolutely! It all boils down to how you use the gear that you have. Better gear just allows for more flexibility 🙌 Become a master at what you already own and only upgrade once you've outgrown that gear!
Gear totally does matter! While yes, when you start, it shouldn't slow you down but as you move forward, you'll find that new gear will really help you get to the next level
I was legitimately heartsore when you said no outro... and then ... like a super hero the chair comes in and saves the day... its like having your own personal chris hau on your shoulder... best... looking forward to 2021 i'll start doing the same thing on all my video's and see if it works lol
I'm gonna come out n say it, you make one of the best "What's in my Camera Bag " Videos! It's not the generic stuff, not that I'm saying they are bad, but this is fresh!! Love ur videos!
Thankyou for saying gear matters. I hear a lot of people saying you “don’t need it” but the truth is everything you said in the last minute of the video. Thanks for always keeping it real G💕
Dude I love your intros, flying the drone away while you're talking was such a surprise! Keep doing what you're doing, you're a character and I LOVE IT!
what an intro! the camera moves are for real in this video!!!!!!!!!! So many things to say... that jacket is pure fire! Thought of going with the Sony Microphone? The ECM thing
"Gear Matters"...as long as you know how to use it. Personally I like to find a space in my bag to open/reseal the lining and put in a Tile Tracker....just in case
Gear does matter…as a musician (and beginner photographer) I can confirm that…but you don’t need the latest and best cameras, lenses, tripods etc….you don’t have to be the guy with the 30k camera bag…you have to have good and reliable gear that gets the job done…I recently bought a Fujifilm x-h1 (which is a 3 years old camera), it’s a beast and can still compete with newer cameras
Gear doesn't matter when you are starting out. After certain lenght of time you still need to upgrade. I have used the Canon EOS 40D for all my 4 year photography. But it just falls apart in the low light. But i would love to shoot photos even when there is less light outside. Specially as i live on the nordic where winters are dark. Also the 10 mp sensor is good for instagram but there isn't much to expand to. Gear really does matter at some point but if you can't afford it in that point you just have to make use of what you have. That's just what i have had to do for the past year or so.
long story but, went to watch your video, got distracted, put the headphones back on not remembering i was watching your video to hear creepy whispering from a chair!!! Thanks Chris for freaking me out!
Every ounce matters - he said. But has the whole Gmaster Line Up 😂 get the Tamron 17-28mm and 28-75mm plus the 24mm F1.8, 35mm F1.8 and 85mm F1.8 and you get superb quality with a fraction of the weight. The argument that the quality is sooo much better with he Gmaster setup: cmon, I thought you don't pixelpeep on social media. But what I can relate to is: having the best gear is sooo nice. But since I got the Tamron 28-75mm my Gmaster stays at home. The same with the 35mm F1.4 Zeiss.
@@thechrishau Holy Moly, I did not actually expect you to reply but yeah, I always watch until the end and your humor is in my taste. I'll get back to you in a couple of years for a collab haha :) I am starting up this year!
For sure great gear facilitates the creation process no doubt but you don't need to spend all your money on it. Cameras are so good now days that pretty much any camera can produce amazing results including a phone. It's like asking Hemingway or Picasso what pen do they used and buying it and expect same results. It's all about the craft. Cheers!🎬🎥
gear matters dependent on what your goal is, and if your not fortunate to have some of the equipment due to where you live or maybe living with minimal or low income then work with what you can get. I have seen a lot of great art being created with older cameras and hand me downs from others with vintage lenses that are spectacular. Gear will come with the money you make from doing client work if you truly love this craft. So yes gear does matter if you have experienced that quality already or your client is demanding it and you need those types of gear to pull off those shoots, but all in all create no matter what gear you have until you upgrade later. thats my two cents and now I digress. 😅
I paused the video three times thinking my Spotify was playing my study playlist but it was your video lol. The Brook & The Bluff have such chill music. dope video!
In regards to what you said in the beginning I don't think that was smart because it'll get new people thinking that they have to have the best gear and the best drones to get the best shots when in reality the gear matters because its what you create with but what brand or type or model or size gear you have doesn't matter at all. As long as what you have helps you create beautiful images or videos then that gear is perfect for you. The only time gear kind of matters is with your lenses because it will give a completely different look to your pictures, but at the core of it gear doesn't matter much at all. I know this because for my first few years of photography I was using a nikon d3400 and an 18-55mm kit lens and I got some (in my opinion) pretty nice pictures with it. So in conclusion, no, gear does not matter, what does matter is how you use your gear. Great video though!
Gear matters, not as much as we think but certainly does... also, it is soooooo much fun to talk about it, we care and should care a lot about our gear... that said, we should not be competing on who has the best or more gear, the contest should on creativity more than in gear.
I have the same bag and it KILLS my back. Some padding on the bottom came off and now I get stabbed in the back all the time. Great bag (aside from the price tag)
KK HONEST OPINION? Does gear matter!? Tell me. Also what camera is everyone using in 2021?
depends.. so yes it does matter
if it depends.. then yes, it does matter
At some point in your career it will matter. Had some great points
I'm using the Canon M50 with the kit lens rn for my youtube videos. It is also my first camera.
A7siii, debating starting a channel... I need to. Cheers Chris!
Yeah, gear matters to a point but it all depends on what you're trying to do.
I just picked up a Fujifilm X100V and I absolutely adore this camera
Finally. Finally someone start saying "Gears matter". I'm so tired of people saying it doesn't when I can't get what I want with what I have.
it definately does, but until a certian level!
It just that the line of "Gear doesn't matter" becomes "You can do EVERYTHING with what you have" these days, while it should mean "You can start from what you got"
YES. I was just thinking the same thing!
Sounds like skill issue
What I think is special about your video Chris, is not only did you replace your bag and stuff but you were gracious enough to create a video that helps us cut through all the overwhelm of all the gear choices and narrow down to the ones that are proven in the field. @@thechrishau Great advice man! Exactly, and I love me some flexibility 🙌 Thanks for the response to my comment! Love your videos man, keep it up!!
"Gear Matters" ✊🏽
It really does.
I keep hearing great things about this camera bag, I think I need to invest
all these years and it's never let me down! 👍
It’s a great bag specially when you keep the camera at the top it’s much fast to grab it instead of needed to flip the bag around
Yeah it looks great!
It rains in Saigon all the time so this bag makes a lot of sense!!
I've been running one for two years, everyday use, over 25 trips... It's easily got 2 more years in it, I already bought a second one.
Super excited that you got your gear back! the 24 mm is such a beauty.
Gear totally does matter! While yes, when you start, it shouldn't slow you down but as you move forward, you'll find that new gear will really help you get to the next level
Love the song choices for this video. The Brook & The Bluff are one of my favorites right now.
Chris the only thing I recommend that I didn't see you mention is definitely a Tile tracker!
Nice style, loved the way that most of the vid wasn't shot indoors. The first scene is genius. Best of luck.
I've seen a few people who where pure hyped about Peter's bag go back to using the protactic, its just the best all rounder
I was legitimately heartsore when you said no outro... and then ... like a super hero the chair comes in and saves the day... its like having your own personal chris hau on your shoulder... best... looking forward to 2021 i'll start doing the same thing on all my video's and see if it works lol
I have all the same lens in my bag but from Canon . Something about those ranges that are just so perfect
Thanks for always keeping it real G💕
you should put a gps tracker on it. just in case.
THAAAANK you finally some who doesn’t say gear doesn’t matter, because for me and now finally someone, you, agree.
Dude, SAME
Dude I love your intros, flying the drone away while you're talking was such a surprise! Keep doing what you're doing, you're a character and I LOVE IT!
This really helps, thanks Chris!
Why do I keep watching these? Because “gear matters”. So true
Thanks for the video. I am with you when you say gear does matter.
The brook and the bluff in the background 🔥
Dope vid
First of all love that opening shot🔥🔥 and also appreciate this video 💯☺️
THANK YOU THANK YOU. Trying to keep it creative.
@@thechrishau well your always killin it 🤟🏿😄
The couple at the beginning is hilarious!
Thank you for being honest, to the point, and on point. Great video man!
awesome! I was not really focus on gear but the story of the video !! so nice man!
what an intro! the camera moves are for real in this video!!!!!!!!!! So many things to say... that jacket is pure fire! Thought of going with the Sony Microphone? The ECM thing
Thanks homie! We're trying to make the intros more interesting this year. Also the jacket is second hand :)
@@thechrishau well you guys crushed it! Thought I was watching a full production! Bummer! Can’t get one lol
Such a sick kit, 24mm is my fave! I still can’t believe your stuff got stolen 😩
Can’t believe people would stoop so low!!
Great 2021 gear replacements though 👌🏻
Be kind to everyone...doesn't mean they can all be trusted. I GPS track everything I own
believe it, Chris stands out from a crowd "I'm an idiot, take my stuff"
@LookIntoTheLens uuuuuuh
Huge fan of the protac 450 bag as well. Fits my 150-600 sigma, rf 800mm, 24-70, 20mm, 50mm, and a r6 with grip!
Love the vids! Intro was very cool! Also, love the daily Instagram posts!!!
Awesome stuff man!!
Bruh that 2 old lady old men, turn around. They shocked. Hahahaha SICK! LOVE IT!
"Gear Matters"...as long as you know how to use it. Personally I like to find a space in my bag to open/reseal the lining and put in a Tile Tracker....just in case
Now that is smart!!! Just hope that the gear and the bag is still together if ever stolen.
Innovation and intros
~ chris hau♥️♥️😂😂
Lol still got the outtro, al I do agree with you Chris. Gear does matter when it’s your job. When you’re first starting out, ehh not so much.
I had this exact conversation a few months ago with a friend.
I really like this message Chris. Thanks for this vid! It’s so needed
Really appreciate the video chris! The honesty about gear is refreshing!
That Sony 24mm is so GOOD! I loved that lens. I definitely need to get a drone too
Great video, Can't wait to see the new Home studio tour when it's all done. Thanks for sharing see you next time. 😀

Dope video Chris. Awesome transitions!
Nice video Chris! Love to see what other people are shooting with. Maybe I should do one of these videos for my channel 🤔
Upto 0:20 Well said❤️🔥 only the thing is gear matters , love from India🇮🇳🙏🏻
GEAR MATTERS!! 🙌🏻

Best what’s in my CAMERA BAG video so far 💚
Almost bought the A7SIII! Decided to upgrade my gh5 with the sigma 18-35 instead
Watch your back. ;) Guess you know where I came from now. Loved the stories!
DUDE don't think for a second that I wouldn't notice the Brook and the Bluff in the background. LITERALLY the greatest band right now
Bro, "The Marias". Great choice of music!
Happy to hear that you have your gear back man! And the Sony a7siii / Sony 24mm 1.4 are dream pieces! 💯✔🔥
Ooo, I'm interested in the backpack and a decent tripod
The tripod is mega!

4:52 so accurate... hate to forget the SD card
It’s amazing that Chris used to his intro the music track that I used on my video. We have the same music taste!? 👏🏻👀
Thanks Chris for doing this video👍
Such a good video !! Keep it up Chris 😉
4:17 "I think I have enough battery" - 1000 Islands edition 😉
we always need more batteries :)
Yes agreed 💯
Gear dose matter
THANK YOU! Finally someone realized that gear matters!
Chris I thought you would be using the PM camera bag.
amazing kit! i still use a Nikon d7100 with Tamron 17-50 f2.8, Nikkor AF 70-300 and a Nikkor AF 50mm f1.8D!
I love that bag, I've had it for over a year now and couldn't be more happy
Gear does absolutely matter. But like you said, people should start with what they have and progress from there.
The intro with the drone i like a lot , awesome Chris
Is that a Pete’s pirate life hoodie? Saw the logo on the sleeve? Where’d ya get it? 🤙🏻
My Wife bought me that bag for my birthday this year…love it so far. Amazing what I have packed into it currently.
Love these types of video!🔥💯

One thing I have done is every tripod Monopod and gimbal I have had been adapted to a Swiss quick release. Best thing I did
would you like to reveal how you accomplished to lighten product while moving light on it. it was really cinematic
Vlogging with the drone!

..."hi, this is the chair"... 🤣🤣🤣
😂
Best Camera Bag EVER!
Gear surely matters
Yey!!! Finally The video I have been waiting for!!!
Cleannnnn setup
Gear 100% matters.. I started with a 10 year old compact camera that could hardly keep up with 5600 k.. (Got my new camera for Christmas thankfully)

I feel like this is the reply to my question on Lizzie's story 😆
