To me, this is pure peak mecha design, and an absolute home run from any gundam series thus far. This and the Calibarn may easily be some of my favorite mobile suit designs in all of Gundam. (You had me at revolver arm canons). This just freaking hits everything I like, big sword with guns, modular gund bits, revolver arms, laser katana, did I mention revolver arms? When I see this MS, I kind of get a mixture of Gundam Vidar from IBO, a little bit of elements from some of the Unicorn, a slight bit of 00, and of course some Astray Red Frame flavor sprinkled in there. It is such a shame that this suit didn't really get enough screen time to shine throughout the series. But hey, I'll get whatever eye candy I can get. Perhaps later down the line Bandai and Sunrise could incorporate some of the HGTWFM kit designs in a future gundam build series, that would be so freaking cool. A guy can dream can't he? Cannot wait to get this guy eventually along with the Caliburn. Hell, sign me up for 2!
Getting two of these expands the display possibilities for one drastically, and while it may be generic Gyoubu to some, the hard points are your friend in this case. And like most concurred, the downside of this design as a whole is the screen time
We could've had an epic combo of schwarzette and calibarn storming quiet zero, but no, we got a little brother throwing temper tantrum for its pilot instead
I don't mind Lauda pilot it, but I'd wish he kick Shaddiq's ass along side Guel instead of having a siblings fight. Plus I think Guel wasn't the person that will willingly pilot a gundam. If he would, he wouldn't board his dilanza in the first place.
It feels like the Schwarzette was a shoehorned-in mandate by Bandai. Like they needed to fit one more antagonist Gundam into the story somewhere, no matter how inessential it actually was to the storyline plans. All things considered, the climax of the Guel/Lauda drama wasn't a terrible place to put it, since the fact that his brother is piloting a Gundam means that Guel had to not only defend himself in battle but also worry just as much for Lauda losing his life to the Gundam's curse. From a writing standpoint, there may have been other, arguably better things they could have done with the Schwarzette, but for the one shortlived fight scene we got and the ''...is that IT?'' feeling it left me with by the end, it was cool enough that I probably will still buy the HG at some point.
I can cannibalize the Guardian as much as I can for the Calibarn in a planned custom. This versatility is the strongest highlight of the Schwarzette, enough not to avoid this release. Imagine seeing this in either a Build show or Gundam Breaker to see its true potential.

Well, that's for people who want accuracy (and for me to add another tally to the G-Witch line's color inaccuracies). But if you could look past that, the features make up for it. I'm glad you enjoyed
I would argue but Darilbalde is a better design simply because the arm funnels, beam saber replacing hands and feet anchors gimmicks are unique. I think the reason people excited for this is because the weapon, while the ms itself provide us with nothing new.
Same here. I thought I was the only one thinking that Darilbalde has better gimmicks and design than Schwartzette. Without the weapon it kinda like a prototype version of Darilbalde
Like with the Calibarn, this is one of the strongest designs in a while and certainly to come out of the Witch from Mercury MS lineup, but unfortunately we saw so little of it. That half cape of funnel blades is way too cool a gimmick to have been used just once. Also that color scheme is fire.
The Schwarzette had it worse as it was used for pulling a hissy fit, which is a shame as I loved the kit and its display flexibility. The Calibarn at least had some cool fight scenes before it was turned into a 00 + Unicorn + Turn A plot device.
"Knock off Riddhe" No, Lauda was the Anti-Riddhe. Lauda didn't manage to kill off a beloved character, got to have a girlfriend in Petra, and got over his anger issues.
They still got angry over a girl, boarded a Gundam, and effectively turned into the B-plot of the battle. Sure they ended up in different places, but the unit itself serves a similar role, except without the comeback
has an amazing potential for customs and looks amazing as is, personally would love to see this mixed with either a Graze type or one of the suits from age, really do love the guardian and agree with your opinions about it being a lil tedious but if can get the perfect pose would look stunning especially on a diorama
Well, the tedium mainly comes from playing with it, so if you don't change up the forms as often as I did for the vid, it's fine. But I do agree that this kit has a lot of customization possibilities, be it the kit itself or stripped for parts
Panel lining and top coat, with some painting for the kits that aren't accurate to their line arts. Though for the clear pieces, I remove them if I could, and masked them with sticky tack if not

Just cement it in and it'll be fine. I recall that the antennas are just easy to push out and knock off because of how they're plugged in and protrude from the head
I haven't watched the witch from Mercury at all yet but I have been itching to get a new kit soon .... And I'm not gunna like...this son of a gun here kinda caught my eye watching this video just now. It looks like just the shakeup my meager sized collection could use. Plus it's got some pretty badass things going on with just a small loadout that kind of impressed me ngl, that sword, shield, Gatling combo had me sold to begin with but after it opened, which I was just expecting a sword to unsheathed from it, and everything else came out and it was game over for me. Lmao. It's Saturday and I'm off work and I think after lunch I'm gunna go out and see what I can find
I haven't run into such issues apart from the Lfrith Ur. Keep in mind I posed this kit way more than the others due to the sheer number of forms its weapon provides, and I didn't find any joint coming loose easily
Planning to buy two for a base form and one with bashed darilbalde parts or double winged guardian mode... But damn i quite liked this kit especially the multiple guardian features despite being badass for one episode and i wonder if they would release the extra weapons of darilbalde, pharact and michaelis?
Some Japanese builders did get two for the symmetrical play with double Guardians, and it only expanded the possibilities. Though I'm not sure about whether the weapons for the three aces would be released as an option set. Still, the community has taken things into their own hands
I'm really confused by Bandai's marketing with this kit. They announced it about 8 months ago and the promotional photos were secretive, showing the Schwarzette in its most boring form (giant popsicle stick?). Then they show the Caliban in the anime and it ABSOLUTELY steals the show, everyone rioting for the HG to be shown and released. Then, and only then, they show the Shwarzette's bit gimmicks in the show and reveal the secrets in the HG - reviving all the interest that was ultimately lost in the Schwarzette that was transferred to the Caliban. But...why not just wait until the Shwarzette's gimmick reveal in the anime to even announce the kit? Why stoke hype, let hype die, then "hope" you can revive the hype? If that was a genius marketing strategy I guess it paid off.
I feel like they put the design in the show for the sake of it instead of anything important in the lore. I already feel disdain over the turnover of MSs in the series, being featured in a plot of the week manner or something similar. Then they teased the kit, the prototype unit, and let it lay dormant before being picked up by a massive soy boy. If anything, I think they never thought of how the Schwarzette fits in the plot, then towards the end, they were like "Oh right, WE MADE THIS!"
Honestly, I doubt there will even be 1/100 WFM kits for a long time, maybe the more popular suits will at least get somewhat of a chance. But the lack of the Aerial's upgrade for over a year in 1/100 form bites that chance in the ass
I didn’t love the swarzette until I saw it in action. It just looked kinda lame at first, but the flexibility of the gund staved really made me love it, I just wish it was used better in the show.
The only thing bad about this kit apart from the color accuracy is how its sources were treated. I feel like it's a shame to not have it comprehensively display everything the kit could do and then some.
This Gundam is just so cool, and I'm grabbing one for myself to display in its mantle form. Even though the show didn't really do it justice, the design is just so cool that i can look past that.
It's by no means a peg above the Lfrith and Darilbalde, but a lesser mix of what made them stand out, so I'd still strongly recommend acquiring this kit
First time saw this Gundam, i would drop my jaw and thinking like this, "oh, they will make this Gundam just like Barbatos that always swung his mace and targeting the enemies cockpit." Well, not gonna happen 😂
I really love its head design. too bad i dont really like its proportion. dont get me wrong, it's not bad, i just feel the kit's kinda thicc, which is weird because im fine with the anime illustration Probably gonna look for someone who sell the head separately lol
This is a beauty in simplicity, everything about this kit just perfect... Heck, WFM kits are raising HG standard by a lot... Cant wait to get my hand on this...
I finally got my hands on this bad boy and I fell in love with this gundam. From it's design, the cool sword and the colors, it makes it the most striking G witch gundam aside from the Lrifth, Base Aeriel and Pharact. And the model kit was no slouch either as I am STILL posing with it, making it a VERY soild kit and while my dislike of a certain bitch ass brother stealing this masterpiece still hurts, it should have been Top G aka Guel's and its runtime was super short as all hell, the Schwarzette is a MUST HAVE! It better show up in a Dynasty Warriors Gundam game and a super Robot Wars game in the future because I would love to just have Guel pilot it but still amazing review!
Thank you! The only things that are bad about this kit are the tedium and the pilot. Everything else is top-tier, and I really hope it gets added to a game soon since Aerial seems to be hogging all the attention for herself

I'm glad the kit managed to captivate you even without context of the show. Good luck finding it
Thanks for the review! But how do you feel about the c clip knee? Will it become overly loose over time like the 30 mm kits? 😢
I haven't run into such issues apart from the Lfrith Ur. Keep in mind I posed this kit way more than the others due to the sheer number of forms its weapon provides, and I didn't find any joint coming loose easily
@@mj2005gundam Thank you, really interested in this kit and I might just pick it up. Cheers to more reviews!
Cant wait for your calibarn review
Wish me luck in getting one then. I know the entire Gunpla community in Hong Kong will go crazy for it because shiny new protag machine
Planning to buy two for a base form and one with bashed darilbalde parts or double winged guardian mode...
But damn i quite liked this kit especially the multiple guardian features despite being badass for one episode
and i wonder if they would release the extra weapons of darilbalde, pharact and michaelis?
Would the back heavy still a problem when flipping the heel?
The sword mode i mean
Nope, the deployed heels help with the weight issues a lot
I’m definitely getting 2, one for parts and to use with an IBO Gundam frame. And one to keep as is
This kit definitely has the customization potential, be it stripped for parts or customized itself
@@mj2005gundam wonderful news, just what I wanted to hear
2:32 what’s that right gunpla?
The HG Gaeon from Reconguista in G
@@mj2005gundam *Looking back dumbfounded at my hand me down kit I am working on*
Really? I thought it was the Kimaris from IBO.
Fingers crossed for a MG so I can replace the legs with Virtue/Nadleeh's the clear parts/shell units match up pretty well.
Oh yeah, and they're in about the same spots as well
Would love it if there was a 1/100 version of this MS, preferably a MG but knowing Bandai it would probably be relegated to 1/144th scale for a while
Bandai be Bandai. We don't even have a 1/100 Aerial Rebuild even over a year after the FM Aerial
Honestly, I doubt there will even be 1/100 WFM kits for a long time, maybe the more popular suits will at least get somewhat of a chance. But the lack of the Aerial's upgrade for over a year in 1/100 form bites that chance in the ass
This MS is my third favourite design from the G-Wirch series, after Lgrith & Aerial.
Ippei does have strong design instincts
Was it a cool suit? Hell yeah.
Was it used properly? Absolutely not.
Yet another bad ass suit that was barely used by the end 😢
It's such a shame that such a cool unit turned out to be nothing but an afterthought
Out of curiosity if i were to use 2 kits would i be able to make a symmetrical version of the mantle form?
Yep, you just mirror the process, and voila
@@mj2005gundam thanks, now i gotta get multiple
This Gundam is just so cool, and I'm grabbing one for myself to display in its mantle form. Even though the show didn't really do it justice, the design is just so cool that i can look past that.
I could especially look past the atrocious treatment after I gave mine some TLC. Plus, we now have the freedom of making it do what we think it should
@@mj2005gundam I wonder how it would look with a double mantle, 4 bits on each side? But then what would I do with a second kit, haha!
These recent new HGs are really something else.
Its ease of customization is its selling point.
Thanks for the succinct and to the point review pal! Gotta be careful cuz WfM out to get my money
You're welcome pal. They're cheap, but it adds up, so yep, caution is advised
WEEELP! guess I'll pass the Demi barding
The Demi Barding wasn't even seen fighting ffs... I would take the Schwarzette if looking at the units in a vacuum
@@mj2005gundam fr, even the Backpack, despite being adjusted and modified, I didn't do what they advertise in their kit
Did you paint it at the end? It looks a bit different if so what paint did you use
Ijin Gray from Mr Hobby mixed with a tiny bit of Million Blue from Gaianotes
@@mj2005gundam alright thanks! Might actually paint it when i come around to getting it
well, since it's super recommended, I'm totally gonna get that one day.
It's by no means a peg above the Lfrith and Darilbalde, but a lesser mix of what made them stand out, so I'd still strongly recommend acquiring this kit
@@mj2005gundam oh I will.
The popsicle sword bits
I guess they do look somewhat like popsicles
I'm surprised you didn't mention the *unforgivable* seam lines on the legs. Unforgivable for a 2023 Gunpla at least.
I know seam line removal on these is simple because of the white parts, but couldn't the legs have been designed better?
The seam lines are filled in, that's why I didn't mention them.
HYPE AF GUNDAM
Hype until the actual battle showing its role to be minimal, if not inconsequential until the end
Another great review
Thank you
I can no longer wait for the arrival of the "Monster"!!!
I might have to step over bodies to get one, given what happened locally when the Aerial Rebuild and Lfrith Thorn dropped
This Gundam looks really good
It's a bit drab by default, but the Shell Units definitely spice it up
Planning on clipping off the head ring
The forehead armor is tied to the ring, so do what you will with that info
About the color, I personally prefer the white than grey. The face looks like a skull and the white color made it more like a skeleton
Preferences are one thing, accuracy is another. In all honesty, I'm fine that some prefer the inaccurate colors of some of the kits in the line
Schwarzette really needed more screen-time like Calibarn
It needed the screen time, and a comeback arc like the Banshee Norn.
I'm mad I pre-ordered when it was first announced and I got stuck in the backorder crowd 🙄
I'm sorry to hear.. Everyone was hyped about this Gundam when it was first revealed like last year I think (?)
2:35 I thought it would be as tall as Darilbalde.
It should be based on official specs, but for some reason the sizes are wrong
Would absolutely buy this in 1/100 if Bandai were inclined to produce it ❤
Hopefully they'd make a 1/100 of this, but we are still due on the other main units, so...
@@mj2005gundam haha yeah, I can't pretend it's likely.
Pronunciation on Gundam Schwarzette is off. Also waiting to mention how unique the stickers on Gunbits aswell, it has some thickness in it 😔
It's not off, it's pronounced the German way. Whether you go full English or German is up to you
You could tell me this was a G-Reco kit and I'd 100% believe you.
Oh if only this were one of the G-IT lab units...
How you get it so fast?
Hong Kong gets kits early
@@mj2005gundam damn, you are so lucky live in that main country for gunpla
@@Farmuhan not for long unfortunately
The pure white colour gives me an uneasy feeling 🤔
Uneasy as in it looks sinister or off?
@@mj2005gundam probably more sinister cuz of the contrast
This design is a very unique one for a Gundam
It's a bit generic Gyoubu, but still distinct nonetheless
First time saw this Gundam, i would drop my jaw and thinking like this, "oh, they will make this Gundam just like Barbatos that always swung his mace and targeting the enemies cockpit." Well, not gonna happen 😂
It happened like once, then the bits came off and went full beam spam, omnidirectionally
I really love its head design. too bad i dont really like its proportion. dont get me wrong, it's not bad, i just feel the kit's kinda thicc, which is weird because im fine with the anime illustration
Probably gonna look for someone who sell the head separately lol
It's the smallest out of the Jeturk kits though. But I admit, the head is the strongest part discounting the Shell Units
This is a beauty in simplicity, everything about this kit just perfect... Heck, WFM kits are raising HG standard by a lot... Cant wait to get my hand on this...
From an engineering perspective it is. I still hate how over 40% of the currently released kits are color-inaccurate
@@mj2005gundam thats a bummer indeed, the sole reason why i PO-ing this kits also because i thought its gonna be in off-white or grayish color...
The sword reminded me of Lucky Seven from Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
It does have a similar straight katana blade, yeah
@@mj2005gundam Exactly and I just got through with talking with another gundam friend well 2 of them and we all agree that this gundam needs to be in a game. I get that the Aeriel is the main character gundam but come on this thing needs some love too!
The most theorized Gundam in the show.
And it fell short from all of them. I loved the theory that this unit was made in memory of Vim and Lauda would use it to take revenge on whoever he sees wronged him for all the misfortune cast unto his family, but alas.
This is probably the one time that i think the Glow edit in the thumbnail really ruins the look of the kit itself.
It is a bit overkill by design, NGL
The Witch from Mercury end too soon.. Was hoping for a 50 episodes format..
It would have benefited from a longer runtime and maybe have been better with the same plot, let's be honest
My next gundam if i have enough money 😅
It's absolutely worth it in a vacuum
Just wanna say~ love the MS to death! I mean a sword focused suit with its own scabbard turning into funnels?!? YES PLEASE! If only the pilot wasn’t a temper tantrum brat lol
I often get frustrated over people passing this kit up because of the pilot. Fair enough, Calibarn is next week, save for that, but don't skip this kit because of Lauda, because like you said, it's bloody awesome.
beautiful
Absolutely
I love how you pronounce "Schwarzette"
You like how I went the German route?
@@mj2005gundam yes! you nearly nailed the german and it sounds adorable! keep it up, love your videos!
I need an mg asap. Don’t care about aerial anymore tbh
I couldn't care for the power creep of that thing. At least the Schwarzette has cool visual options offered with the one sword beyond beam spam
Bi Pride Gundam is a beast
It be a beast for sure
Am i dreaming or your presentation this time reminds me of type v3 😢
Yep, inspired by Type V3, though still nowhere near as concise
I can't help calling this big sword a Popsicle Sword. 😋😋
I can see that honestly, I wanna stick it in a freezer now. Meanwhile, my brother calls it a door wedge
For some reason this is giving me Gundam Kumaris, Gundam Vidar or Gundam Kumaris Vidar Vibes
They share the designer, and to a lesser extent, share a role
honestly when first teased vs debut, I kinda meh on it because it just a lil bit too plain until the whole great sword into bits gimmick...
so my only complain now that this mf has less action and the pilot, the gimmick just soooo effing cool that might consider to get this and Calibarn as to complete the final episode scene. (And hoping once I build them all, they don't go poof out of existence)
They probably won't be reduced to atoms, but I know its role in the story is equivalent to that, which is sad because this kit is so cool
