This is no question my favorite Gundam from Witch of Mercury! It’s unique Broom Weapon, the pure white armor, the fact it inherits Aerials bits! LOVE IT, WANT IT, can’t wait to get it!
It's disappointing that this kit doesn't include the red version of the shell units, which is how it appeared for the majority of the time it was on screen. I would've been fine with the RGB version being its own kit even if it ended up being P-Bandai, and have the red version be the regular release. The rainbow version only appears for a few minutes at the end of the show.
Unfortunately the RGB/rainbow V-Fin was definitely heavily altered in the promotional images. The final product is less vibrant and seems to have more color separation than the product images lead on. I am still really excited for the kit despite making 4 nearly identical HGs at this point but I am considering either the deactivated mode or custom making Permet score 5 pieces/waiting for P.Bandai. I hope a future RG will get the RGB/rainbow accents correct on the V-Fin but as it stands, until I get the kit, the assumption is the black V-Fin is better.
Yeah, I do suspect they tampered with the image to bring the rainbow patterns out on the promotional images, as they genuinely don't glow as strongly as displayed. I was gonna go for the inactive look, but for the sake of the review, I went rainbow. If only they had the red ones though

But we never got to see that since the red herring that is Suletta suffering immense backlash, it deactivated when Suletta was unconscious. the green stickers on the broom thruster makes it kinda look identical to sensors/cameras... should've make it somewhat different if they wanna make it green
That's my point, they're different in the anime, which would stick out if you watch it frame by frame. It isn't the lighting that affected the broom's emissive details, they're different by design.
It only looks cyan in the back of the thrusters because the color and lighting in the show, we really can't use the show as a color reference for the suit as we haven't really seen Calibarn in proper lighting... At all.
my only concern are those exposed sticker for the shield and the broom rifle (both thrusters and the nozzle), a white paint and green marker might be a good alt , but it will cost me more since i'm about to matte coat this kit and getting the shield display stand
Can't wait for this one. Not sure how the escutchen works with the calibarn so well when it was developed 20 years later but I guess it's a similar enough design language where it works.
Aerial is actually the Lfrith, which was developed shortly after the Calibarn. The original intent of the Calibarn may have been to work with the bits, and the bits were actually made and perfected by the Lfrith. Instead of backwards compatibility, Calibarn was made with forwards compatibility in mind. It's just a theory.
@@Echo_419 My personal theory is that Calibarn was designed with its own GUND Bits at some point before it was shut down. Prospera then worked off the Calibarn's blueprint when creating the Aerial, and later the Aerial Rebuild, and thus inadvertently made the Calibarn compatible with the Aerial's GUND Bits.
Red eyes were used by the Pre-Production Lfrith when it hit Permet Score 4. Meanwhile the Lfrith Jiu's face is a Shell Unit, hence the pink/red glow. There's no explanation for the Aerial and Calibarn having the red eyes since they weren't used in the series, no matter how high the Score went
Yup agreed with the grey blade antenae..i like it more.. it also reminds me of gundam x only with the x is not attached as a backpack..oh is the blade antenae brittle for clean up?planning on removing the safety nubs on that one..
The clear v-fin feels brittle, so you'll have to make careful cuts to remove the safety flags. The rainbow one though, has safety flags on the top edge so you can just nip them off without damage to the pattern
Is the connector hole on the Calibarn suitable for the backpack connector on the Seed series Gundam? such as aile pack, destiny BP, or perfect strike freedom
The Calibarn uses the universal backpack standard, so most backpacks with double pegs can work. Otherwise, you'll need to use adapters to connect them such as Striker packs
As soon as i saw the preorder went up in my local shop i immediately preorder it but in my country it won't arrive until the first quarter of next year😭

That ball joint on the backpack bothers me I wish they make it like a hole to insert the support for the weapon to the backpack So that if you remove the weapon it's symmetrical

Light blue from Mr Hobby + Emerald Green from Gaianotes, and just brushed it in. I'm glad you like it
Agreed, really liked the cyan painted colors.
decals on this one are gonna be fuego
If you're talking about marking decals, the extra bits of red from the labels would work really well
I'll probably pick up the robot spirits version, the broom being comprised of c-clips does not give me confidence much like the Michaelis.
Yeah, I've ran into some minor alignment issues during the review, but it's not as bad as the Michaelis as those wore away quite quickly
It only looks cyan in the back of the thrusters because the color and lighting in the show, we really can't use the show as a color reference for the suit as we haven't really seen Calibarn in proper lighting... At all.
With that said, the eyes should also look just as cyan, yet they don't
I'll definitely grab one at one point and just kitbash/redesign it to have more presence to live up to the "monstrous" implications.
It could do with some Gundam The End parts for maximum monstrous elements
@@mj2005gundam I wasn't thinking literal monster, but just some added bulk. Like they hadn't streamlined or compacted the GUND-system yet.
@@Echo_419 ahh! My bad.
The Elbow’s limited bend didn’t stop me from buying one
I mean, why should it? So long as it's sufficient for what the kit is designed for and fun to pose with, then it's fine by me
i had to laugh when you had caliban ride on the broom. 👍 As always great content.
😁, I had to do it for trope points. I'm glad you enjoyed the video as well, thank you
And here I thought my last kit for this year is the hgac deathscythe hell...
Looks like I will be buying Calibarn too
The broom sold you on it eh? *nudge nudge*
Omg yes, you did the thing with riding on the broom cannon.
My 2 goof poses paid off it seems, I'm glad for that. It'd be a missed opportunity otherwise
my only concern are those exposed sticker for the shield and the broom rifle (both thrusters and the nozzle), a white paint and green marker might be a good alt , but it will cost me more since i'm about to matte coat this kit and getting the shield display stand
Apply the stickers after the topcoat
Can't wait for this one. Not sure how the escutchen works with the calibarn so well when it was developed 20 years later but I guess it's a similar enough design language where it works.
Because magic and plot, magical glowing parts make everything work
Magic makes plot holes disappear! It's the stuff plot armor is made of!
For next year going to Japan with my family, I will buy Calibarn for my big sister.
Aww, that's sweet of you. It fits the theme too
Does it bright vibrantly with a black light? The V fin though.
The plastic reacts and glows blue. The in-mold patterns don't glow
I can already see 3rd party kits of just the variable rod rifles.
Hopefully so, and they have to make it interchangeable for lefty and righty use
Red eyes I think is explained in the WFM:Gaiden manga series.
As soon as i saw the preorder went up in my local shop i immediately preorder it but in my country it won't arrive until the first quarter of next year😭
Buy from HLJ? It'll always be cheaper when you buy couple of kits than local and will arrive in like a month max
Oh geez... where do you live that would take them so long to get the Calibarn in locally?
I wonder if we’re going to get a damaged aerial gunpla kit
If they do a Thunderbolt style release for that, I'm gonna scream
Hey there! Random question but did u repaint your schwarzette? Noticed that it's a lot more colour accurate compared to the review video.this is a great kit by the way! Thanks for the review!
I did repaint the Schwarzette for the review, though without anything white to contrast with it, the difference was minimal in its review. I'm glad you like it though
@@mj2005gundam looks absolutely fantastic compared to when it was pure white. Looks even more menacing now 😈
Hi i would like to say i made my one custom gundam useing this kits head(rainbow v fin), chest, legs, and shoulder pads. The aerial's arms shield gun, and waist, and the gundam swarzett's back pack and had to get two of ith to have two guardian sheiths.
And also gave it blue on the red parts and some on parts of the white in certain points.
That sounds like a cool custom
Did you nip the safety nubs on the v-fins or sand them?
I nipped them on both of the v-fins
i'd definitely would get HG Calibarn, if it weren't for Figure Rise Standard Amplified Shine Greymon.
Ahh Digimon. We all have priorities eh
@@mj2005gundam true and i felt like if it's gone i doubt that Bandai would reprint it that soon. Shine Greymon isn't exactly that popular when compare to other main lead digimon.
Its basically the WFM Zudah, but more awesomer
*shoves Lfrith order away* Im getting this!
Now that's irony, as now, the Lfrith lost to the Calibarn
I really like it this design, especially that Broom
Same thing here mate
Is this the last of HG kits of WFM?
no more new wfm retail kits for this year at least, therefore pray for pbandai
@@wizofhell are there no HG of Gundnodes?
Technically, the PB ones are gonna be the last until further notice
Im so envious!!
Don't be, this is foreseeably the last time I'm able to get new releases out early to you guys
Are there any mobile suits left from Witch of Mercury left to release as HG kits?
The Lfrith Pre-production, Demi Garrison and Heingra still don't have a kit.
What's been said, unless you also want to have the extras and kits. Oh and the Gundnode
Hm this in USD ? Cant wait to buy it so far got lfrith and aerial
2000 yen is about 14.44 USD from a quick Google search. Of course, taxes and whatnot excluded for American customs
how did u sharpen the rainbow v fins? was there any risk of runing the rainbow design
The rainbow v-fin has safety flags on top of the part instead of behind, so you can safely nip those off without damaging the pattern
RG zeta shluld be the norm for first rg build
What's this about?
@@mj2005gundamHere on my country I saw many posts of MGEX Strike Freedom as their first kit
How do you get this model kit its not even out yet I preorder my HG kit 2 weeks ago?
Local stores in Hong Kong. Though this will be the last one I'd have the privilege of getting early
I’m dissatisfied that there are no red stickers to recreate permit score 5 and below.
It is a bit annoying, NGL. We all know where those would go...
You can actually just paint those yourself: use a red Sharpie to recolor the Shell Unit stickers, and you get actual good looking Permet Score 5 stickers with minimal effort.
@@StrikeNoir105Ereally, thanks for the info! I may use it when I buy the kit.
It comes with a shield or it’s a separate pack?
It comes with the shield
That ball joint on the backpack bothers me I wish they make it like a hole to insert the support for the weapon to the backpack
So that if you remove the weapon it's symmetrical
I think it's moreso for stability's sake than anything. Sure it's not ideal to customize, but I'd take stability over it
The early access makes me envy. I've pre ordered mine but won't get it 'till next year.
Where did you order?
@@Daimler690 my local reseller
And this is the last new release I'm able to access early
Calibarn still useable right? Ericht and suletta combo like in aerial? Am I correct?
Spoiler alert, Calibarn has been turned to dust along with the Aerial, Schwarzette, and Pharact, so they no longer exist in the Ad Stella
@@mj2005gundam oh well...just like barbatos. gone. phew. when can we see a living gundam. lol
imo this is the best high grade of all time
Best HG of all time is a big claim, but it is one of the top ones from the G-Witch line for sure
HG Moon Gundam say hello
Very nice kit overall but the elbow bend is slightly disappointing.
It kinda is in all honesty, but it's a ranged, high-mobility unit so it won't be as jarring to use
waiting for someone make a decal with red shell unit for this kit
Someone ought to make a template for that
6:00 it is what it is😂 literally WITCH from the mercury!
Now we just need a hat
Preorder it already
Good for you, no competition needed after that
how the heck did i miss the witch's broomstick gimmick?
Hell, I missed it first time around, so you're fine
3:58 Broomster Rifle 😂
Yep. You're on the money there
where can I get it
I bought it from a local store in HK, though it should slowly be dripfed to other parts around the globe
I have a question. Can the buttflap (back skirt) move up and down?
No, I'd have demonstrated that otherwise
whar i can buy this one ?
Depending on where you're from, it would slowly get dripfed to other countries. However, as good as this kit is, never give into scalper prices just to have it
Does it comes with another pair of hands?😅
Unfortunately not
Calibarn & Narrative side by side will look like siblings.
They kinda would, yeah, given they're both unfinished prototypes
It comes with a stand? nice I needeed one
Yep it does come with a stand
the Lfrith does it better for me. this is an easy pass, but the broom is pretty cool.
Well, they're both objectively good kits, so it's to each their own which you'd wanna pick up
