Idk if it was intentional but Twilight imitating Pinkie's voice could be a pretty subtle meta joke; Tara was originally going to audition for Pinkie when the show was starting.
+fizzycolalizzie I did hear that later from a buddy of mine. That aside though, the VAs are known for doing impressions of each other at convention panels, which can be hilarious to watch. Just funny that that type of joking around is starting to slip into actual canon. XD

This is one of the best moments in this episode.
I just realized that Starlight had her old “villain” hairstyle when she was playing the “villain” Snowfall. That’s a really nice touch, and it’s cool to see her old hairstyle back for a bit.
Well her change of hair represents how she changed.
I always liked the part at the end, where Twilight gave her the option to go to bed, completely guiltlessly, but still invited her to the party.
I think it really shows Twilight's growth - she lets things go, and her lessons to sink in before pressuring anything.
I love Luna's song! It gives me chills!

+Daniel Antony Well obviously, but it was an intentional reference to Severus Snape. The writer of this episode has confirmed it.
Seeds of the Past actually hit me kinda hard, seriously when Snowfall started singing I actually had to hold back from crying. I don't have personal experiences like that at all, but it still hurt a bit.
The line "Some hurts never go away" actually broke me, and it's really rare for me to cry watching shows/movies.
Luna's song always gives me chills. Its different and its amazing.

Yes. So epic.
Did anybody notice that Luna's singing VA was different. She has only sung once before, in the Season 4 finale, and the singer was Kazumi Evans (Rarity's singer, Octavia, Adagio Dazzle). This time, the singing VA for Luna was Aloma Steele, who I first discovered in Monstercat songs.

I'm somewhat conflicted on that, because I like seeing Discord, but I'm not sure I would've liked seeing his first interaction with Starlight being in the storybook world as alternate characters. I can't wait for Discord and Starlight to meet though. I hope I have some popcorn ready for when that finally happens. XD

The songs were all great. Luna's solo especially was amazing! I definitely saw the parallels between the Hearth's Warming Tail & what happened with Starlight during the Spirit of Hearth's Warming Yet to Come. Luna was perfect for that role. Awesome job, Sir!

Princess Lunas singing voice was originally by Kazumi Evans cause she also does rarity and adagio as well. But this time it was by someone else which was EPIC

This is more or less tied with "No Second Prances" for my favorite episode of the season so far.
As for my personal favorite song, I have to go with "Say Goodbye to the Holiday", with the future song being close with its ambiance, but being a bit too short.
+funcoolfunfun There were 6 songs in this episode, so there was obviously an issue with time constraints. I really hope we get an official album release with extended versions of these songs.

I’m late to this conversation but I actually wrote a second half to Luna’s Future and I think I did pretty well. Instead of just telling how Snowfall’s actions will cause destruction, it’s supposed to show how taking away Hearths Warming Eve will cause the return of the Windigoes.

+DJ-Ann Pie Technically not DJ-Pon 3 just a ancestor or a character she's playing or however you want to call it. (Even if she's really talking they'll never let us hear her voice because half of the fandom would more then likely go ballistic if it wasn't Nowacking. (I personally wouldn't mind if it wasn't her but I'm sure that I'm the minority who thinks that). Although it would be a treat hearing Nowacking's voice come from Vinyl. XD.

+DJ-Ann Pie From what I've heard through the grapevine, which may or may not be true, Jessi Nowack actually was approached about becoming the official voice actor for Vinyl Scratch, but she turned down the offer due to the contract restrictions, such as no longer being able to voice Vinyl for any fan content. As much as I would like to hear Vinyl speak, I don't think it will happen. That's kind of okay though, as she lets the music speak for her. :D

What? She just told Starlight a story! And she wanted to join in the holiday. The only part where Starlight is the 'villain' is from our perspective. And this isn't a religion thing. This is a holiday celebrating friendship and the founding of Ponyville. That's like not celebrating a combination of Independence Day and your friend's birthday.

+Daniel Antony Um...wait, are you talking about Rainbow Blaze? That's not my personal claim, it's the consensus of the fandom in general since his first appearance in Games Ponies Play in season 3 (I said season 1 or 2 earlier, I was wrong). He appeared in a flashback scene where filly Rainbow Dash was sitting on his head when the announcement came for where the Equestria Games would be hosted that year.
As for the appearance of age, remember that even Twilight's parents didn't really look any older in the S6 premiere than they did in the flashback scene where filly Twilight was trying to pass the entrance exam to Celestia's magic school for gifted unicorns.

Boy a great mix of Christmas Carol and How the Grinch Stole Christmas, I don't think I've seen this combo before. As usual great reaction and analysis. I did have one thought. I wonder if Luna getting her own singing voice might mean we'll be hearing more singing from her in the future. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. The vocal work too in both Snowfall and Luna's songs was amazing! Even on the 10th watching the vocal work and music in both of those still gives me chills at points.
+SeirsBr Yeah, I need to listen to all the songs more closely still, have been too tired to fully appreciate them, but like I said, I will buy an album of this in a heartbeat if they put it up for sale. Really hope we get extended versions of these songs too. Oh, will also say that as we've seen before, Daniel Ingram just keeps getting better and better with the music, so with performances like this, just imagine what the songs in the big MLP movie coming next year will be like! :D
I know it's a holiday episode, but it's still easily a 10 outta 10. Every song was great, the parallels between Snowfall and Equality Starlight were there, and it was just a plain joy to watch.

This was a really good episode, the songs were enjoyable, and its funny seeing an MLP version of the Christmas Carol, and I know it wasn't really Applejack but I think she looked adorable with her mane done up in pigtails, nice reaction.

This I think has to be one of my favorite episodes
I have a theory about the Windigos
When we first saw them there were three of them, and there are THREE Spirits of Hearthswarmming Eve
Now I know at the end of the story about hearthswarmming, the Windigos were caught in the heat released by the love and friendship released by the six ponies they'd trapped.... but this is MLP, apart from Sombra, when has this show EVER killed someone off
My thought is that the Windigos were changed by what happened and gained a new purpose. Before, they fed off anger and hate, growing stronger when they did, but after being essentially drowned in the positive feelings from the ponies, they realised how much more powerful those feelings were.
So instead of spreading hate and anger, they began spreading the feelings brought out by Hearthswarmming, and did this for so long that they have now become dependent on them. This then means that anything that threatens Hearthswarmming is also a threat to them, and Snow Fall's spell is particularly dangerous, because it would turn back the clock, and undo centuries of peace
So it Behooved (I regret nothing 😜) them to intervene and stop Snow Fall, because they know that if Snow Fall succeeds, they go back to how they were, and they don't want that. Not just for themselves, but for all the ponies they have come to care about
And for those of you who think I'm crazy, think on what I said at the start, 3 Windigos, 3 Spirits of Hearthswarmming, and we see at least TWO appear in the vision of the future, AFTER two of the spirits had had their say. This makes me think that the first two had transformed back into Windigos, and after Luna disappears, we don't actually SEE how many Windigos are circling Snow Fall, there could have been three meaning after giving her piece, Luna's Spirit gives in to the transformation as well
It's just a theory, but I think it's still cool
when there are good songs and then there is a luna song, chills as hell xD
I know this episode was a long time before season 9 however the outfit Applejack is wearing right here is the same outfit she wears on Big Mac's wedding day. It's just designed a little differently so you can't tell 😂

I love this episode! Definitely one of my favorites for this season; tied with No Second Prances. You can't go wrong with A Christmas Carol (at least for me; one of my favorite stories ever). And yeah the pony version of Snape; that was an awesome tribute. XD. You wanted an Applejack solo song and you got it! XD. Well technically it's the spirit of the past but meh. Great reaction and can't wait for more! XD.

you know, I've seen this episode a dozen times, and I always thought the ponies pulling the cart with the CMC in it at the beginning was not Rarity's parents... but the owners of the Tasty Treat in Canterlot.
Why, you may ask? well... the male has a mustach, and is a bit 'portly'... but the colors are off, and the female's cutie mark isn't the same as the Chef of the Tasty Treat. Ah well.. live and learn.
I thought that this might be an example of the animator's 'fore-shadowing', that they have done in the past. I guess not. Ah well.
