I have the very same guitar, it's a lot of fun! Nothing beats that sustainiac drive with a bit of delay. Plus I was pleasantly surprised by the Floyd 1500, virtually no detuning after a long session of crazy divebombs.
nice review....I use this guitar with elixer 42-9s, even after one month when I get the guitar out of its box, its almost perfectly tuned...deserves every penny paid for it...
I totally agree, I was shocked it didn't come with a case when I bought mine and wondered if I was buying an overpriced budget guitar, but in reality, despite having many other great guitars, this is one of the best I've ever had. Tuning stability is amazing, tones are amazing, neck is amazing.
What you are able to do with a guitar is incredible. Also, I picked up on on the Satriani vibe right away, you nail that big time... so, I don't have an Apocalypse - but I did buy a Hellraiser Hybrid C1FRS with Sustainiac (Ultraviolet) recently. What do you think, how do they compare? Does the Apocalypse blow the Hellraiser out of the water? Anyway, I'm hoping to be 1/10th as talented as you some day. Thanks for the awesome video, Dave.
Wow, thanks Jim that's really kind, Satriani is my hero (met him last year again). I do try and have my own style but heavily influenced by him and to me I could only wish to be 1/10th of what he is. I've never played the Hellraiser but it's a great looking guitar and spec, I would think it's equally as good. You have a great guitar my friend, concentrate on your tone and technique. I use a Helix Modelling system for all my effects and amp/cab modelling.
I use a Helix Floor, I think on this recording I use a Legend OD modeller, a german ubersonic amp modeller, a Marshall Cab IR and a Simple delay all running in Stereo straight into my DAW. I use Stereo Headrush FRFRs with the Helix live and constantly get complements about the best tones on the local scene.
Own Schecter C6 with bats on my neck 🤘with sustainiac for 6yrs now and man it’s a rush to have them sustain switches. When new with tube amp I forgot that switches were left on when I stop playing and the sustain stayed on even after amp was off and unplugged from wall and I’m like wtf.... I turn switches off then sustain tone finally stop and then I lmao 😂 really..
Yeah, it'll sustain as long as it's plugged in, it does mean it's the one guitar you can't leave plugged in on a stand or you'll find the battery flat and even the normal pickup fails.
I'm planning on buying one of these bad boys soon, and am really curious to see what kinds of sounds I can get from using an E-Bow on it with the sustaniac enabled.
Pretty Killer David. I'm considering buying one of these for a special reason. What a great tone. Do you mind sharing what you are running for it? It sounds so damn good
Wow thank you, yes it's running through a Line 6 Helix straight into my DAW. On stage I use the Helix with stereo FRFR speakers and get constant compliments about tone. Obviously creating great modelling presets is key too.
Excellent review thanks I have the c1 platinum with Floyd rose absolutely love it but how can I keep the Tremelo from flattening my bends any help would be appreciated thanks
I assume you mean double stopping the bent string is pulling the unbent string out of tune? Fundamental flaw of a floyd rose I'm afraid, if you're going to play that double stop blue style use a fixed bridge guitar or a Strat with lots of springs, not a floating trem.
A fret wrap, you typically move it over the first fret to use it, it keeps the strings damped while you do excessive hammer on and tapping or sweep picking. I must admit though, I just reach over with my right hand and damp the strings more often and just hammer on with the left.
Sorry for the slow response, I must have missed this, in this order, Deluxe Comp, Scream 808, German Mahadeva, 10band graphic with minor tweaks, A split into a Marshall IR and an LX TDR Blues IR back into a Gray Flanger and then a Stereo Simple delay and a Legacy Plate reverb. It took me a while to perfect.
@@davidupton8100 under the cover, on the sustainer electronic board, there are 3 gain controller where you can tweek the gain, volume, and harmonic feedback. i just need a picture of the sustianiac board
I'm a big Satch fan. I only don't have a JS because I have this guitar and it's a very similar config. I prefer the fixed neck finish of the Schecter and the design and it plays like a dream and is super stable from a tuning point of view. I have a PIA with an edge trem and that is super stable too. I prefer the top end Ibanez trems to anything else, however the Edge 2 on my BFP Jem took some replacing of parts to make it a good trem. The schecter trem is really stable and smooth, but it feels light compared to the Ibanez and is no good for doing flutters for example. You get a hard case with the JS but not with the schecter. Difficult call. I still fancy a JS.
I use a Line 6 Helix Floor. I run it in Stereo so all effects in the signal chain set to Stereo. Typically Wah, phaser, overdrive, amp, cab, delay, reverb.
I can see your amazement. I ordered it. Thanks for the review.

Yes the tuning stability on this guitar is amazing.
came to have a look but you made me to love this C1
Brilliant, well it is rather good
Just borrowed this beast from a good friend of mine , thanks for clarifying the set up and switches .. I’m going to have fun playing this baby !🤘

Nice review, especially of the bridge and of the sustainiac!
Thanks, glad it was helpful

Thanks for the demo! Mine is on the way and hopefully I'll have it Saturday. Can't wait!
You should have it by now, how is it?
@@davidupton8100 I love it David! Sounds and plays great! Thanks
I just purchased the Schecter Hellraiser C-1 FR-S and I love it! Strange how this is not offered on most guitars.
You can put it in most guitars
Awesome video,thank you
Many thanks

@@davidupton8100 I be sure to look into a Helix Floor :)
You make that guitar sound great my friend .. not all about Helix nor the Sustaniac
@@bcltdinc.8919 Many thanks, really appreciated, if you get a Helix and have any question, let me know. Also there's a good community on Facebook.

@@davidupton8100 thank you
@@davidupton8100 yes it comes forward when I’m bending a string which cause my bend to be flat
@@carlhuffman6792 Your bend shouldn't be flat because you just bend it more to compensate. It'll just be more than on a fixed bridge.
