For those who have enjoyed this video over the years, my wargaming club started a channel with the best historical wargaming videos out there. They are much more highly produced than this one, which we used as inspiration. Stop by at Little Wars TV, or www.LittleWarsTV.com!
Truly amazing battle report. This is possibly the best I've ever seen. The camera work, sound quality, narrative, graphics, and insights are all top notch. Well done. I hope to see many more of these in the future.
This was a fantastic exercise. Loved the game board, the pieces, the game play and the different outcome. Fun to watch, and makes me want to join on in :) Please do more in the near future.
Really excellent video - thanks so much for uploading. The commentary, and insight into what the players were thinking, was excellent. I really enjoyed finding out what the rival commanders were planning as regards the battle. I bought "Altar of Freedom" a week back, and haev really enjoyed reading it. Looking forward to presenting a game at my local club using my Irregular 2mm ACW figures. The video you've uploaded will really help, enabling me to point my club mates in this direction for more information. Thanks again!!
VERY nicely done and the command commentary was thoughtful and engaging. Hope you can get the same guys together at some point and do another one. Chickamauga? Shiloh?
Excellent report. I think this approach (neutral commentary over general pictures plus the graphics showing the progression of the battle and the plans, coupled with brief interviews of the commanders) ought to be the template for the replay sections of your littlewars tv videos. Can't recommend the overview graphics enough to producing a comprehensible story of the battle. Well done. Cheers Andrew
+Broseph Stalin Thanks! We are actually talking about making a more elaborate series of out of this. I really like watching good wargaming videos online but there are tragically few of them for some reason.
Very cool. Loved the video as I never saw a game played before. Only interested in Civil War. What are your thoughts on 3mm figures. I need to conserve room. Would love to make a coffee table version.
This is so cool! Is there a difference between these kinds of war games, with terrain, painted soldiers and such, and board wargames that use plastic pieces, or cardboard counters?
Thanks! Everything you listed is a type of "wargame," but there are differences in how those games are each played. We have another channel dedicated to wargaming, and one of the videos talks about this question: ruclips.net/video/eHgLWPjQ_M0/видео.html
+Brett Berger The figures are 6mm Baccus. Info about the minis, the terrain, and how the game is played are at the link in the video description! www.6mmACW.com
I disagree on the ref's "calling it" too soon. Both sides looked spent, and when two sides are spent in a protracted fight, the one that can stick it out just a little bit longer, wins. Shoulda continued this until one actually broke.
That's not how the battles of the period tended to pan out. A spent army is an army full of tired soldiers with low ammunition. Pushing them on would be skirting catastrophe. It's why the Battle of Gettysburg concluded when it did. The ref made the right call in keeping with the attitude of the war up to this date in time.
Great job on the terrain. Awesome!Saw some of your terrain making vids and not only like the war board already at first sight, but I now have a deeper appreciation of your terrain making trials, tribulations, skills, and accomplishments. Thanks!
I've never wargamed Gettysburg, it does look like an interesting one. Looks like I'll have to put my 15mm figures aside and start painting some 6mm ones. Good video guys and thanks for heightening the profile. How did you find the rules?
Hello, I do a vlog called Jon's D&D Vlog. In it we discuss Dungeons & Dragons. Recently I've been going over some of the history of the game. The creators of D&D, Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, were both very much into wargaming. Wargaming is where D&D came from. Before D&D, Gary Gygax and another man, Jeff Perrin wrote the rules for a wargame called Chainmail. To help illustrate how the game is played, I refer to your video above and I also show some of it. I hope you don't mind, but, your video is a good example of wargaming and most people who play D&D really have no idea what actual wargaming looks like. I give you full credit. I show the name of this page and I also show the URL where people can come and look at it if they so choose. I believe I am obeying all of the rules of "Fair Use." If you object, I guess I can change the video. I have not monetized my vlog and I have no plans to do so. I'm not making money from this. I'm just trying to educate people on the game. The title of my video where I use your footage is called "Jon's D&D Vlog - Chainmail - Part 1". I also plan to use some of it in another video that will be called "Jon's D&D Vlog - Chainmail - Part 2". Anyway, I hope you don't mind. Thank you.

Yes. Good channel too 😁
My word... You are all so babyfaced! This pre- little wars content just randomly showed up in my feed :p priceless!
Truly amazing battle report. This is possibly the best I've ever seen. The camera work, sound quality, narrative, graphics, and insights are all top notch. Well done. I hope to see many more of these in the future.
Nicely done. It was terrific to be "let in" on what each side was thinking and how they tried to adjust. Good stuff!
I really love the format of this batrep. The narrative, the interviews with the commanders, the overviews, more people should adopt this.
This was a fantastic exercise. Loved the game board, the pieces, the game play and the different outcome. Fun to watch, and makes me want to join on in :) Please do more in the near future.
Thanks for posting the vid. Great re-enactment of the battle and the commentary was excellent!

Loved this. A real insight into why battles evolve the way they do.
Definitely a wargaming AAR worth watching. Really enjoyed it !
Awesome report, terrain and after battle discussion. More please :D
Excellent battle report, loved the general's input and their after action discussion.
VERY nicely done and the command commentary was thoughtful and engaging. Hope you can get the same guys together at some point and do another one. Chickamauga? Shiloh?
Excellent game and superb miniatures & terrain. Terrain has to be good at this scale and this is spot on. Very inspiring.
This is the coolest thing I've ever seen

Brilliant vid. One of the best I've seen. Don't know why I haven't seen it before now but I am glad You Tube finally sent it my way.
That was very enjoyable to watch, listening to the commanders as well was something totally different...Ian
I'm interested in playing this now. Awesome video gentleman!
Superb video and I enjoyed the stylish dice throwing trays and terrain. I would prefer thinner figure bases. Thanks for posting !

Best AAR I've seen to date.
That was really entertaining and well produced. Shame you guys didn't make a series out of this.
+Broseph Stalin Thanks! We are actually talking about making a more elaborate series of out of this. I really like watching good wargaming videos online but there are tragically few of them for some reason.

You probably know about Little Wars TV by now, but that’s their new channel, in case you don’t! Loads of great historical wargaming content like this.
Excellent video. Well done!
I hope you’ve played Ultimate General Civil War it’s a great computer version of these battles.
Very cool. Loved the video as I never saw a game played before. Only interested in Civil War. What are your thoughts on 3mm figures. I need to conserve room. Would love to make a coffee table version.
I wish we could have this good of a production with 28mm Black Powder Napoleonic!

+TheFirstFlip Thank you so much, and I really liked the Video. It would be interesting to see more.....
How much would you say the armies cost. Ive been wanting to get into war gaming for some time and 6mm seems like a cheaper way to go.
