For all those who enjoyed this video, my club has spent the last year filming and producing an entire series of tabletop battles from history. Not just ACW, but also ancients, WW2, you name it! Our new channel is Little Wars TV, or www.LittleWarsTV.com.
Splendid AAR. I really have enjoyed this, and the AAR for Gettysburg. I like the way that you interview the generals beforehand, don't get bogged down in the rule mechanics, and summarise what happens at each stage of the game. Really great to watch!
You're in luck. Over the last year we've been working on an entire series of videos inspired by this one! We're launching this summer at Little Wars TV!
The Clockwork Guard The number of "bases" (brigades) you need for a given historical scenario are on the 6mmACW website linked in the video description. Under the scenario section there are some PDFs that show you a table of what's required. Some of the smaller battles don't require too many bases. It also depends on your own basing method and how many figures you put on a stand. I've seen some player put as few as 4 Baccus strips (16 models), mine average 6 strips (24 models), and some guys have packed 8 strips to a base (32). The denser you go, the fewer bases you'll get from the Baccus army pack.
I noticed the FLANK ATTACK from off the side of the table ! This has always been a problem in table wargames Specifically WHEN does the troops being attacked in their flank (off the table edge) get notified that there are enemy troops coming at them that are NOT ON THE TABLE ? How MANY TURNS in advance do they get to REACT before the flank attack troops get to hit them full force on their flank ?? We've had MANY an arguement about it here in our K.C. Mo. group wargaming ! It's usually left up to the game-master but many of the players involved don't always agree with that decision !! It could matter WHAT PERIOD, WHAT TROOPS, WHAT WEATHER, WHAT TERRAIN, etc. that would make a difference ?? :-)
