I had an Assignment on this topic, I needed ideas on how to provide a solid argument. You can made it clear and I'm now going over the required number of words needed. Thanks for the good video Jim Sevier

This was an excellent talk. I'm currently a part of a coding bootcamp and I need to come up with a capstone project. This definitely gives me food for thought on how I might want to proceed with my project. It also helps me to have a clearer view of what continues to contribute to the digital divide. I like the term you uses "shamanic interface." That was really cool, inspirational and I feel it's so accurate!

You know what would be easier than building a "shamanic interface?" Making everyone literate. Many countries have done it, the U.S. simply has chosen not to.

So instead of typing our queries into search engines, Jim Sevier suggests we "speak in" our queries. How is that going to be the solution? Also, I quite like typing.

There are millions of people around the world with various forms of reading and writing dyslexia. Creating a search engine to speak into would open doors and possibilities for all these people. And what about children who can't read/write yet? My 6 year old loves to learn about dinosaurs. He's able to use the speak function on the search engine to learn more about dinosaurs.

A 12 minute video on something that could have been said in about 30 seconds. This is so dumbed-down.

Some evidence would have been useful, he makes a lot of very bold statements, doesn't make a lot of claims but implies "somatic gestures" will "solve the digital divide", which seem pretty ridiculous so barely worth taking seriously. Perhaps less ridiculous is the idea somatic gestures might make it easier for the unskilled to access or use the digital world - might be true, maybe not - he provides no evidence either way, which is interesting because companies have been working on somatic gesture UI for years, some is very advanced. This is not new, you would thing think there might be some research or he's at least doing some?
