  • So for shoulder replacement and what that looks like afterwards, a lot of times what we do with patients is we will have them go home the same day. We have great pathways to help relieve pain over the first 24 hours with our anesthesia colleagues and amongst the medications we use and we start physical therapy right away. But for the most part, after those two weeks, we're using the arm for normal everyday activities we're really progressing that range of motion. We're working with our physical therapist, or for some folks that aren't able to get to a physical therapist that are coming to them or we're setting up a home program for them ourselves. They're doing that from day one, the pain of the arthritis and what you were suffering from initially, that's gone from day one, you have a surgical pain, but most of my patients tell me, you know, it is tolerable. They know it's a track to recovery. And they can deal with that because the the toothache of the shoulder that constant pain that's gone and it's changed. So it's very it's a very rewarding surgery for both the patient and myself.

I just love doctors telling patients don't worry about the pain it's not that bad.

It’s been a month and I still have chronic pain in my muscles, tendons and shoulder blade.
I’m 60 years old and I know the healing will not happen overnight.
I had 3 left shoulder rotary cuff surgery in the past 20 yrs I had replacement 4 wks ago. It is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to endure. It had kicked my butt.

    No real complaints here
I look forward to returning to the gym soon.

I'm about to have surgery on my right shoulder this year hopefully on the NHS in England. I'm only 46 but had multiple traumas and dislocations playing football in my early years which is now causing severe osteoarthritis in one place, basically bone touching bone...!!!! Does it help instantly when you have a new shoulder as currently its a constant pain especially at night when sleeping on it...?
