I could say Kugimiya is the best coach. He did not only train Carlos on the technical side but he dealt the weakness of Carlos. building his confidence and mental ability to to the difficult technique. He is a great coach.

Japanese training and discipline is very good. Thank you Kugiyama San for helping and teaching Carlos Yulo. If Carlos didn’t have a training in Japan, he cannot get a gold medal. This is the truth I can say.

Heard in an interview with Yulo that a lawsuit was filed against him by a Japanese entity. If it’s not over yet, hopefully they end this feud with an amicable settlement. It was beautiful to see how the Japanese couch helped Yulo, it was a very fruitful partnership.

This coach identified the problem of Philippine sport right on the dot particularly gymnastics. He said “magulo”, there is no direction, it should be incorporated in the educational system, underlining the need to train the mind to have the disciplinein the sport as well.
Indeed. He observed ‘magulo’ as nobody at that time around 2012, was leading the gymnastics program…dilapidated infrastructure, no sense of direction in training and couching….no GOALS of glory. Mr. kugimiya really saw talents. He saw the potential in mr. Yulo as a brilliant world class talent…..and surely he was right. He , mr kugimiya single handedly nurtured mr. yulo …..and now with these results..God knows where this could lead to for mr. yulo. In my own little way , I support Philippine gymnastics when I can. I have suggested a long time ago a DEPARTMENT OF SPORTS. pinas magulo pagka commission lang POC pang olympic lang at super magulo. a department head can oversee the whole sports regardless
