This guy is a perfectionist. He did a quad double back in the gym (2 vertical rotations with 4 spins in one tumble). He just never brought it to competition because he thought the landing was not good enough. So he stuck with his triple double back and let the younger Kenzo Shirai introduce a quad back (1 vertical rotation with 4 spins) which the world thought was impressive. Kohei Uchimura is a legend in this sport. He raised the difficulty bar so high that even the Russians had to grow their team significantly to make up for the new versatility requirements.
He said the right words about gymnastics - there should be a balance between technical difficulty and execution. He's my favourite gymnast so far in both MAG and WAG Good luck for him in Tokyo!!
i dont mean to be so off topic but does any of you know of a method to get back into an instagram account? I somehow lost my account password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me
@Blaze Kannon thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and Im trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
this is so beautiful. i just watch some of his competition, and i fell in love with him. then, i found this video. first, i want to say thank you for your beautiful routines and everything that you did to Japan. i sound hope in your words when this video was taken. honestly, i'm sad because i can't see you in Tokyo 2020. i hope you doing well, in everything that you did now. once again, thank you very much. i'm very moved by your games. and i want to see your performances again, if you can
It's not about me being perfect or bringing him down. I just found it to be a good example of 'hard work beats talent.' It's a nice change from interviews/documentary claiming someone was such a kid prodigy blabla. He went from struggling with a simple move to being the best, and that's beautiful, that's all I wanted to underline.
does he have a girlfriend? i love it when he's cute and kinda shy in front of the camera, but when he's competing he has a cold look on his face 😘😘 so handsome
"And the greatest gift my parents gave me was to let me do gymnastics for fun, regardless of whether or not I was any good at it."
Kohei
I love how he sees beauty as the most important thing in gymnastics. And that's what it is! Gymnastics is beauty. Love this guy, what a legend.
His voice and slow-paced speaking gives me so much peace! ❤️
OMG so I'm not the only one!
Estefanía Izaguirre me too!!!!! I love bis voice... i love Kohei!!!!!
I love how he is just so well rounded...humble and a great role model for future gymnasts to come

A true champion. Technical and philosophical. Medals are results not the aim ...
A living LEGEND!!
Truly an inspiration for all....
Kohei was born to be a champion. Great video!
An excellent gymnast and so cute! Adorable.
When he smiles = Mr Sunshine
He is the greatest inspiration for me since 2008!
His voice and the way he speak 💚💚💚
I teared up watching this. He is truly incredible!
KING
He finally got a cute haircut!
Thank God! That previous trademark hairstyle was kinda annoying and distracting... Untidy and messy looking.

The king of gymnastics couldn't do a kip on high bar. That's beautiful. :')
my God, I guess you're a perfect human being lol what a stupid comment

GSTBro' I understand now, I thought you were just bashing him. I'm sorry for my comment them. :)
And now he scored 15.8 on high bar, thereby securing his 8th consecutive gold medal in world competitions.
Tove Kauppi i know! he's amazing! 👏👏👏
This is so inspiring.
Congrats on the olympic team title! All the best for AA!
♥GOAT♥
King Kohei!
Great interview. Send like a great guy and I'm glad he wants to stay involved in gymnastics
One of the bigest athlete that have ever exist. Beside Phelps and Bolt, Uchimura is a grestest one
I am glad he is doing it for enjoyment, I always worry that these top gymnasts are under too much pressure to have fun.
Kohei and Usain..... And Phelps, even if this is just a swan song Olympics.
does he have a girlfriend? i love it when he's cute and kinda shy in front of the camera, but when he's competing he has a cold look on his face 😘😘 so handsome

I bet he's a genji main. Great interview though, tear jerker when he mentions his daughter watching him in future Olympics.

アメーーーーージング❤❤❤❤❤
So it took a long time for this great gymnast to learn to do a kip on the high bar? Don't feel bad kids!
man this man is annoyingly humble lol
The subtitles don't do what he says justice
Micheal jackson's Asian brother?
I just wish he will trim his armpit hair.. its quite bushy and such a distraction watching it on tv. :)
If he shaved his armpit, he would be perfect!
