Every keyed ignition made for Humvees that I have tried sucked. Wired correctly. They are janky. Last one I tried was Federal Military Parts oem style keyed ignition switch and it tried starting when in run, instead of cycling the glow plugs.
Lot of guys saying any aftermarket switch burns out the smart box, so back to the original switch for me.

Keyed ignitions used should be for 24 volt DC semi trucks, otherwise you will burn out a 12 volt switch in no time flat. You can also add a hidden switch on the electric fuel pump if used. Some have even gone to the line lockers for the brakes that we used in the early racing days. You would stomp on the brake and then hit a switch that would activate a valve on the brake lines that would not allow the fluid to return into the brake master cylinder. There is also an aftermarket "start box" that is designed to prevent the burn out of the glow plugs. It has the option of having a key switch on the housing that will lock out the glow plugs but I am not sure if it will interrupt the starter power. One has to reach up under the dash and insert the key to turn on the start box so one can start the vehicle.

0:43 Guy with a keys dies you have to go look for keys 🤣 Is it true those ignitions give humvees some kind of electronic problems?

😅That’s funny. So far I haven’t had any issues. I have the humvee in storage at the moment and go turn it on every now and then and haven’t experienced any key or ignition issues.
