Cool buy. Can't wait to see how it goes. You got it right the square box is the regulator. You have a 200 amp neihoff generator. If i saw correctly, fix the plug connections on the rear of box and i didn't see the big grounding strap either. Should be on attached to the side of the generator to the motor, it's like an inch wide. Looking forward to seeing more hmmwv.
How's it going, Josh? Haven't seen you for a while. Poke your head into Watch JR Go so we can at least see you. Nice to see another old neighbour there recently, too. Hope the build is going well. Cheers from Perth, Western Australia.
They are a competent off road machine with very little investment. We love to run ours off road here in Alaska. My 1988 is the three speed and 6.2. Does okay for what we use it for. Mountain passes are tough on the highway. Mac Motors and Mid West Military Equipment can fix you up.
There used to be a voltage regulator under the dash (drivers side) that you could adjust with a screwdriver; this was back in the 90s so I'm not sure it's the same.
I'm a lttle late to the party but since you are part of the Hoovie, JR crowd then a good expert is the Car Wizard - he worked on Hummer's and Tanks in the Army!
He came to mind, I thought about reaching out for the charging issue. But I know he's busier than I am. We would have taken the yellow brick road to see the wizard, if we didn't have Cameron's father-in-law as a resource.
Swap to a 24v alternator and run an orion 24v/12v converter. The regulators aren't cheap, for the 12v side, if you're putting out over 28v, the gens likely bad and 26v is too low for charging. The older 60a gens didn't have a regulator because they put out the 28v, not the regulator, mainly for the 4spd tcm. You can also get turbo's all day long, bought mine from Albany. I'm about to buy another, some yards are more national guard which are older na units.
Don't sand the paint yourself unless you wear an N95 respirator with a full-body hazmat suit. The paint dust is carcinogenic. Also, the reason it has so many paint layers under the light is because that's where they stencil the truck/unit number with spray paint.
When you disconnect the regulator now it’s only running off the battery and it will slowly drain them if the voltage gauge was in the green that means the regulator was working if it’s in the middle it’s drawing the battery
Let me know if your local tag office accepts the SF97. Mine said it won't work to title it. I called GovPlanet and they charged me $200 to run the SF97 through Montana. I hope to get a Montana title soon.
@@TheFracturedRooster I ran into the same problem. I guess KS did accept the SF97 until July of this year (while I was waiting to get the paperwork). Now they only accept full titles. It took longer to receive that than the SF97. My next step is to get it VIN Inspected, I'm just trying to fit it into my work schedule.
@desireedorman9970 there's a few I know of in the KC area and at least 2 in Lawrence. I don't know where they bought them (gov planet or privately) but I know they have KS tags. Good luck with whatever you do. I'm sure your husband will be happy!
Just watch out govt planet aka govt liquidations the old name a buddy bought as well and in the photo was a complete unit had it shipped and got it and it was in pieces parts removed so he tried sorting it out with them found out that time they were stalling he used a debit card that visa with his bank only allows 30 days insurance a credit card 90 days expensive lesson learned. He is banned from these people for life over he did a complaint to visa.
Too bad YT recommends channels a little too late. Check your grounds especially on the generator. Check the regulator as well, it controls the 24 volt side as well.
Nice squarebody - also, somewhere in this world are a LOT of HMMWV doors lol. Mine also is missing two! So random, I don’t know why they took so many off
So a lot of those doors get repurposed or sent to units with 998s on their MTOEs. I'm a full time technician that works on these we always have doors and other stuff laying around that came off ones that ended up going to auctions.
Not surprised one bit that it's broke down already. These vehicles were considered junk, that's why the Army got rid of them. They were in such bad shape that they didn't qualify for the Foreign Military Sales Program. CODE P: Of no value except except for its material content.
Sorry dude, I literally just now saw that you posted this video...9 months ago. You're channel has seemingly disappeared. Honestly, I'm unsubscribing as I'm posting this comment. Sorry not sorry.
Talk to the car wizard, he worked on those when he was in the service.
He's ok but not THAT knowledgeable actually
Solid purchase!! I enjoyed my hummers while in the military, they were absolutely a beast of a vehicle.
Enjoy the trouble shooting side. It’s awsome to have you guys thinking out loud as I’m trying to figure it out also. 💪

No updates?
I know you're busy with the new property, but those updates are interesting too. Hope all is well.
Josh miss seeing your content, hope we see an update soon.

Get the GCI brand "CARC substitute" tan. Its the proper color to match.
those are tough trucks, i like them a lot. I hope to own one, one day
Imagine that... An Ex-military vehicle without regulation... Such a cool vehicle!

I'll check!

Surprising to hear about the turbo truck. They seem a dime a dozen right now
Hello for Emporia Kansas, I would like to see more on this hum v.
Hoping for an update or a new video soon!

The body is grounded so can't touch any power wires on that metal box. Ask me how I know. My ratchet has a few burn spots
If your engine in the Humvee is a 6.5 Optimizer, it might be worth a little money. Chances aren’t great tho
I believe it is an Optimizer. Unfortunately, its still a boat anchor.
Are there more videos about your Humvee??
Coming
Looks like you picked it up in KS. I just went through the same with mine. If you want to chat about it, feel free.

@desireedorman9970 Unless the title you get is "off road" branded, they should. Titles from gov planet are not branded.

The air filter lid disappeared from mine on their lot.
And that 12 volt box is for running your transmission computer
I see Geoshield boxes in the background. You tint windows too?
you know the answer, read the TM!
Are those tires directional and on the wrong way? It just seems to me that he “V” pattern is upside down.
Checking.
Correction my truck is a 5.9 😊
Hello, how much did you pay for all the procedures?
How much did you purchase it for?
$5600
I know you are a busy man but I love your content. I am still wondering why you made this purchase. Are you? LOL
100% still trying to figure it out.
Call it a bucket list item???
You just didn't realize you actually bought a military cigarette lighter...
Too bad YT recommends channels a little too late. Check your grounds especially on the generator. Check the regulator as well, it controls the 24 volt side as well.
Did he ever say how much he paid for it?
$5600
Bad decisions can be the 😂😢
Must be military water.
It looks like you have a bad alternator voltage regulator it’s overcharging. Not a good thing could start a fire.
How much did you pay for the Humvee
#MyDadIsTooCool
Hummer is my dream to buy one
Get that generator rewound
If you want to build suspense you shouldn't put what you bought in the title. Looks like fun though.
This looks like a job for the "Car Wizard" 🧙♂️
That guy is just a rip off merchant!!!
Not much content for a while?

The car youtuber life👍. More cars than senses! 😅
Yeah, hobbies are terrible! He should be putting his money in 5% CDs and eating rice and beans every night for gods sake!
Im the local president of the more money than brains club.
Nice…Illinois won’t allow an individual to register and they can only be on the roads with military personnel.
Ridiculous.
5:39 you need to understand the gauges in the MV hobby are almost always wrong. Many many MANY humvees volt meter are as much as 3-4 volts wrongs

Rebuild it
Great ranch truck. Convert to bio diesel with that mileage.
No point in building suspense during the video when you spoil it in the title.
You got me there.
@@TheFracturedRooster all good - will be watching the series with great interest!
