i really appreciate your video - i'm in michigan with a roscoe 8 2022 green/orange. i have a similar opinion of the xr4's - solid tire, but maybe a bit higher rolling resistance than id like. looking at maxxis tire reviws, not a lot of videos exist of people using them on hardtails, much less a roscoe, so this is perfect for me
You can also buy the DHF and DHR in 2.6" in the lighter casing at it weights pretty much the same as the recon but with more teeth. Ride according to the tire you have, less aggressive and you'll have to ride less aggressively.
Rekons are great in the rear combined with a grippier tire in the front. Issue with Rekons is how fast the knobs wear down. If you do any aggressive riding you can literally rip the side knobs off
Coincidently the Maxxis Reckon 2.6 is exactly what was I planning on using on my Roscoe 9. Great to see your impressions. When I got the bike, I wanted to try the Bontrager tires but installed them with butyl tubes. A friend recommended TPU tubes as they’re light, but I haven’t tried them yet. I’m struggling with the back wheel as my local trails have lots of roots, so the impacts on the back wheel are hard. I’m now looking for maximum cushioning!! Do you think running theses tires tubeless will add a significant amount of cushioning when compared to running tubes? Thanks!!
its a Video about 2.6 tires 😂 did you have a clue? Also, depending on terrain more narrow tires won”t be faster. Larger tires will roll slower but have more grip. Learn before you comment
I'm from Florida too. I see you have the Pedalling Innovations Catalyst pedals. I have those too. They're the best pedals I've ever ridden. We're going to North Carolina next weekend. Looks like you were in Dupont? Not sure where we're gonna ride yet. Definitely gonna hit some trails around Charlotte.
Yep, I love the innovation petals will never go back. yeah we were at Dupont. Love the trails there. Enjoy yourself in North Carolina if it’s still there. Lol
@zachwilson7061 , I was running Ardents front and rear. I just got a pair of the Maxxis Minion SS and WOW!!! They're super light, roll SUPER fast and have big cornering knobs to hook up in the sandy turns. I think they're perfect for there.
Would a 2.8 fit in the rear? I’m still running the xr4’s on my roscoe 9. Been thinking about trying something else. Here in the UK it’s just roots and mud.. lots of mud! Wanting to go more down country XC so I can clock more high miles up on the mores and dales round here. I have a full sus for the trail centres now. Not getting rid of my roscoe tho. It’s a right bike
I have that set up on my rocky mountain growler in front i got the max terra rekon yes the bike is faster climbing which is what i do kind of XC trail light enduro riding, the onliy issue is on wet the front tire dont have the same confidence as a DHF but in dry or not so wet is a great set up, i recomend the max terra versión on front a little better grip leave the normal rekon on the back

I just put a Rekon on my Stumpy on the rear. Rolls much better now! Will probably try a Forekaster on my front eventually.

Been running 2.6 Rekon front, 2.6 Ikon rear on my yeti Arc HT with an insert in the back. I know want 2.6’s on everything!
Great review on the reckon, I've been thinking about a fast rolling 2.6 tire in the rear. Thanks for the info 🤙🏾💯

Your bike will be even lighter and faster if you get Vittoria’s Barzo 2.35 (front) and Mezcal 2.35 (rear). Nice video

@@deanemberley2333 I just talked to the 2.6 tire police, and they told me that it is ok to talk about 2.3 tires. By the way, calm down moron 🤣
@@deanemberley2333 Larger tyres generally have more grip not less.
@@J.William78 yes I corrected my statement.
Which version and what inner rim width has been used pls ?

What tire setup do you run in Florida? I'm originally from up north

Yes, there’s plenty of room for a 2.8
@@hardtailrider7172 thanks for the input. How are the recons compared to the xr4’s?
@syms85 the XR4’s do have a little more grip the rekon’s roll faster and are more playful
Where is your front fender/mudguard from?
Should have went exo+ 120 tpi max terra.
Great minds think alike😉
My r7 dhf in front recon on back i stay 2.6
