  • 047 This week, after a glorious summer in france, we are headed home to California. We will continue to share some unseen content from our adventures in france as well we plan to continue to share our adventures in California.
    Thank you again for watching,
    Michael and April
    Description of Us:
We are a couple of American Francophiles who have come to truly appreciate so many things about French culture. We love the food, wine, art, and history of France, but especially the people we have met along the way. Join us as we make our dream of living in France a reality. Follow us as we explore the French living and a new life there with our beloved dog, Bernice. We enjoy learning about stone house renovation, wine, cooking, brocante shopping, and the French community we are now a part of.

You are delightful people, just hope the word spreads around and increases your viewership. What is the cultural shock if any, returning to America with a chaos king waiting in the wings? 💙🍀Au revoir!

Is the backpack you use for Bernice the same one you use for the flight? We are moving to France soon with a 10lb poodle and it looks perfect and super convenient!! Thanks for sharing your adventures, they are truly inspirational and a joy to watch!

The plate wall is lovely and a nice tribute to the house, positive energy. No AC, sucks,. I live in Florida, I can relate; we have 100 percent humidity for most of our long summers.
Questions - what type of work do you do - that allows you to take so much time off and afford a home in France and that life style? Just curious. Thank you

I appreciate your videos. I am currently learning French and practicing Italian with an eye to an extended stay abroad, and perhaps moving abroad. Just don’t know where, yet. Do you ever rent out your stone farmhouse?

Knowing italian beforehand makes learning french immensely easier for an anglophone (and also the reciprocal!).

Interested in anything about taking Bernice places. We were in France with our papillon in May&June. Loved having him with us but some places we couldn't go. Any daycare places for dogs? Interested in moving there next year from US, possibly SW France.

@@michelesauret7779even Sweden has gotten warmer. When my daughter was there for 7 months in 2020, they had to break down and buy a fan. And the apartment was double aspect, thankfully.

Lots of questions about the lack of a/c in France and I’ll assume it’s true in most of the continent as well as around the world. Even in certain parts of America people don’t have a/c and have a very hard time during heatwaves.
I live in the desert SW of America and have a/c but growing up we had what’s known as a “swamp cooler” which work horribly when it’s humid. I was a teenager before we even had a/c in our car.
I believe some of the current climate crisis is cyclical but what isn’t can and should be addressed by nations in trying to reduce carbon emissions.

Hope this is not a silly question to ask. When going by train, how did you purchase the ticket. Is there a ticket machine or a ticket booth to buy from ? Wishing you safe trip back home.

There is a website for the French rail system. It’s easy to find and book tickets. There are apps for your phone. If you book far enough in advance the prices are usually lower and are very affordable.
