it is hard to say no when he asks for that treat at Foodland
If I hear the word "malasadas" it makes me want to get on a plane to Oahu!
We traveled to Maui last week, now we are back to TX, already miss Maui. So beautiful, miss the food too, you channel is very helpful for our trip planning !
Mahalo Summer! Happy to hear you had a wonderful trip to Maui. Keep watching as you plan your next trip!
Hey Jordan and Erica! My husband and I made a beeline from OGG to the Costco Food Trucks when we arrived! I had a “mini” Loco Moco from Sparky’s and it was the perfect amount with the rice and mac salad. My husband had smoked pork from Poa Pukehu truck!
We’ve been watching all of your videos and are so happy to FINALLY be here to enjoy Maui.
Also spent a week on Kauai…what an adventure and extremely beautiful!!
Now we’re off to go snorkeling!
Mahalo
Anna Noe from Ohio

It all looks so good. Yummie for the tummy!🌴
We are excited about moving to Kihei this year and diving into all the food you talk about! Henry is getting big really quick. Get video ❤️
My Fave Food Spot on Maui is STAR NOODLE in Lahaina! DELISH.. Can't wait to go back!! xoxoxo
That is a great one! Just went there last week.
delicious post! Btw, lau-lau is usually steamed not thrown in the imu albeit an imu does cook mainly by steaming. It is wrapped in ti leaves primitive tin foil. The meat is wrapped in taro leaves but than over that, the ti leaves wrap up everything. 6:47
Thanks for the nice displays 👍🙋♀️🌍 europa
Awesome video
If I do say so guy’s 🤷♂️ this is one of your most delicious videos you’ve made yet 😋 Keep up the good work 👍🇨🇦😎❤️

"BBQ mixed plate at any L&L Hawaiian BBQ restaurant, or on O'ahu, drive north of Diamondhead, toward the Blowhole and eat the best Shrimp scampi in the world at Geovani's "The Shrimp Truck," on the north shore. Aloha.😊
Just found your channel and love & ❤️ it. Been to the Hawaii a lot of times but now we go to Maui mostly. We have just started to go to the up country and it is a great place to explore especially when Lahaina gets really hot. Looking forward to seeing all the places we missed and future fun things to do. Awesome videos. Rich in Mission Viejo,CA
Thanks for subscribing Rich and welcome to the channel! We are big fans of Upcountry Maui so you will see it pop into some videos.
Loco Moco is a must. Agree on that. I was at Cafe 100 too! Plenty of Spam Musubi too
Well done on hitting up Cafe 100. Easy to find but not in the main part of town.
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide I went shopping and was recommended by someone who lives on the Big Island
For amazing plates on the Big Island, we were very fond of Aloha Mondays in Hilo. If we could've eaten there every day, we would've.
Thanks for sharing! Hilo has a lot of great local grindz
Can’t wait for lilikoi and grape shave ice with a snow cap. My favorite in 9 days :) I often go to Ululani’s on Front Street but recently have been getting it at the Fairway Shops in Kaanapali
Ululani's has a new Lahaina shop near Kam III elementary too. Henry loves lilikoi shave ice. We will need to talk him into trying grape.
Our 1st day on Oahu we had a shrimp lunch plate and a chicken lunch plate from a food truck at the stadium swap meet. Our last night on Oahu we had a shrimp 🦐 plate and a cubed ribeye 🥩 plate. The best two meals we had come from a good truck on our first and last day on Oahu. Now I need to go back for some poi
Poke, apple bananas and Mac nut pie for dessert!🇨🇦🤙 37 more sleeps!!
that is a solid list! Enjoy your trip in March!
Third trip to the Big Island, love your channel !
Island Snow Shave Ice in Kailua & Island Vintage Shave Ice in Waikiki are also INCREDIBLE if anyone wants to try more fire spots
thanks for sharing!
3 P's are important: Poke, Poi and POG juice! Loco moco comes in a close second. I love the chicken/poke lunch combo at Foodland. It is usually $7.99 lunch special. Love it! Ohhhhh musubi. Dangit, that sounds good too! That starts with a P too...it's just silent and invisible. 🙂
I love the three P's! We don't pitch companies often but we tried to get Meadow Gold, the makers of POG to sponsor us, as we love POG and more visitors should experience it. They haven't answered our emails but we still have it in our fridge everyday.
loco Moco was started in Hilo in a restaurant across the fire station it started with just rice and gravy a fried egg was later added. a friend ordered a “Loco Moco” at Cafe 100. The waitress did not know what it was so Glenn told her how it was made and the Loco Moco was reborn! Glenn’s father was a “wrecker” a barefoot football team who home turf was the Lincoln Park and were regulars at that restuarant.
loco moco! Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner. Hangover cure at 4 am.
Great channel! Thank you! Do you recommend taking a cooking class? Maybe on Maui?
We think that is a great idea. We haven't looked for one on Maui but Oahu has a great one near Diamond Head at a chef's house: thehawaiivacationguide.com/hawaiian-style-cooking-class-oahu/
Thanks!
Love your videos! We just returned from Waikiki on Wednesday and had an awesome time. We went to Rainbow Drive-in and it was great!!
Rainbow is a classic, glad you liked it! All the restaurants along Kapahulu Avenue are good. Thanks for subscribing!
Don’t forget malasadas that the Portuguese brought over!!!
Your boy has really grown :) glenda
thanks Glenda!
Get some lau lau, poi, and some Naau if you can find it.
Thank you for this great video! What restaurants do you recommend nearby Hilton Hawaiian Village Hotel! We are booked in August!🤗
We like Waikiki Brew pub which is toward the mountains and Tropical Tribe for acai bowls.
Kaluha pig I’m not sure how to spell it. Pineapple of course! Super yummy. Cannot wait to go to Maui in May for my graduation trip. Also we are doing the Maui no car challenge 😂. My parents did it last summer and it worked really well. Hopefully it’s still a good idea lol.
I love that! Best of luck with the Maui no car challenge! Have a wonderful graduation celebration trip!
My personal bests:
Shave ice - Baldwin's Peanut Shop in Aiea
Shrimp truck - Romy's in Kahuku
Hawaiian food - Waiahole Poi Factory, of course in Waiahole
Sushi - Sushi Bay in Kapolei
Pho - Cuu Long in Pearl Kai
Korean - Jang Su BBQ also in Pearl Kai
Northern Chinese - On Dong in Honolulu
Filipino - Juliez in Kapolei
nice! Thanks for sharing your favorites!
Your content is very helpful. Me and my family are planning a trip to Maui soon. But I do have one question: My little brother is underage for a lot of the things, such as scuba diving, and we are trying to find good things for kids under 10. Any ideas?
We have an article with things to do for kids: thehawaiivacationguide.com/things-to-do-in-maui-with-kids/ Have a great trip!
Thankyou so much! My little brother will be so happy. ☺️
This is actually our first time to Hawaii, and by watching your videos, it sure looks great!
What do you think of the cruises in Hawaii? Expensive, yes!
we aren't very familiar with them, to be honest. We prefer spending more time on the islands than on a ship. Plus, a non cruise vacation is a better way to support local businesses.
I tried shaved ice in Oahu. I wasn't impressed but good when it's hot
We had POG every morning at our B&B in our first trip to Maui and have always thought of it as quintessential Hawaiian food ever since
one of the first things we get when we land, a half gallon of POG. A full gallon is just too much but so good!
I have to start by saying this, I do not like cocoanut, pineapple, nor coffee. That said I totally love everything you have listed here. I can’t even touch what they call poke over here on the mainland. My friends start spouting of bout some poke they had and I just can’t do it. The shave ice is perfect for after a long training run or bike ride. This will be the first year I can’t get over there in a very long time so I look forward to your videos. I have to commend you on the quality and information presented. Mahalo!
Thanks for watching and the wonderful comment! I thought a poke bowl with kale and corn was a joke and then I saw it. nightmares. Hope you can make it over soon!
Where can you get those malasada donuts ??
Lots of great places. Leonard’s on Kapahulu Ave is the most famous. Kamehameha Bakery is also wonderful
The way Jordan says “root” beer makes me thinks he’s from the Midwest. Am I wrong?
I’m from Michigan. You have a good ear. You should hear my brother, no hiding his accent.
Hey did you have your baby? I seen on a video in October you were pregnant 🤰
we did! we share that stuff in our newsletter! thanks for watching and the comment
Can I get my poke fried/ cooked?
Wow, the one culture you did not mention was HAWAIIAN !!! 🤦♀️
#2 and #4 are traditional Hawaiian food
Ok, frozen poke should not be an option! It’s just proof that the fish isn’t fresh. Why isn’t it fresh? Is it because it’s from some other country? Did it need to be gassed to make its’ appearance more palatable? Stay away, don’t be fooled.
