Just wanted to thank you for this video, we went to Maui a few weeks ago for our honeymoon and tried to hit as many of these as we could. They were all amazing and I'm so glad we got to try a bunch of them! North Shore Noodle Bar's steamed buns, Papio's Mac and Trees, and Sweet Hula's Acai bowl were some of our favorites! We went to the Kihei food truck court so many times so we could try all the trucks there, there were just too many choices and not enough time!
12:36 their steak empanadas are literally the best thing I’ve eaten at a food truck. Can’t stop thinking about it. Paired with their sandwiches with handmade sausages is killer combo. El Carrito is magic.
Love your video, mahalo for sharing! Now we are even more excited about our upcoming trip. Also love your emphasis on reef safe sunscreen, we’ve been strictly using mineral based sunscreens for over 20 years in addition to wearing rash guards 🐠🐟 Keep up the great work.
We went to so many of your food destination suggestions in August. You didn't disappoint us!! We loved everything we tried...and kep watching your video at the time to see where we were going to try next! Not a food truck obviosly, but just have say that we had to visit Paia Fish Market twice!! Thanks for adding to our wonderful stay!!😀
South Maui Fish company - the best poke. I would like to mention one more food truck in south Maui Gardens - Howzith Eh. Delicious Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwiches and to die for Kalua Pork Poutine
What a great video- I’ll be using as many of these recco’s as possible! And side note, it’s so lovely that you always center the health of your gorgeous home and its reefs. People should know that lots of great swim clothes now exist- leggings and rashguards that prevent you having to use much sunscreen at all!

Marienda was incredible and we went to El Carrito same day and have to say the best sandwich in that Kihei park was the smash burger from Burger Boys, 100% A5 Wagyu smash burgers OMG! We ate the the food trucks several times when in Kehei. Had pad thai with tofu from Thai me up and Poke from the poke truck. Yummy in the tummy. Also enjoyed Maui Tacos and Maui bagels.

Love all your choices and absolutely agree with you. In fact I am going to south shore tomorrow and get the Fish Tacos . May I suggest 1 more ? That is the Thai food truck at Maui Nui Farms in Kula. Nui is Thai and her son runs the Food Truck. She is the whole seller for Foodland on Maui. She opens up her Farm to the public Thursday to Sunday. So you not going to get fresher ingredients and she even has chickens so the eggs her son uses are fresh. I have been to Thailand several times, one of the reasons Thai food in Thailand is great is because they put tons of sugar in the food. Nui’s son does not and it still taste great. It’s the most authentic Thai food on the island. I love Thai me up but I would say it’s Thai inspired. The Chef there uses the same wok pans for the same food never puts any other stir fry in them. That’s one of the secrets. Sorry for the long post but I also love our food Trucks here.r

Food trucks are ALWAYS the best food. I've travelled the world and without question the best food is found at the street vendors and food trucks.... and Maui has some of the best! My personal favorite wasn't even mentioned in this video, Geste's shrimp truck, that food is lit!

Awesome vid, we went to several of your food trucks while we were there and we were never disappointed! We did find the BEST cinnamon rolls in Maui at a bakery called Papi’s Ohana! Also they had the best mango scone I have ever had! And a shout out to the food truck court by our condo, Hoopiilani Food Truck Park. Awesome Guava Lemonade at the lemonade truck and awesome mahi fish tacos with pineapple at Hooked. Overall great spot to check out!

Two more food trucks: Sweet Hula and Thai mee up. Both were incredibly good! Also big Thank you 🙏 for the hint with isolated water flasks! That one is a big hit also!

Went there last night and the food was disappointing. It was really good 3 or 4 years ago. I wouldn't recommend that nor the pizza cart across the way we got so sick for 2 weeks from them last year. It was really bad.
Just got back from Maui this week and HUGE shout out to BKR for all his recommendations!!! Couple quick mentions from his other vids. The snorkel day trip to Lana'i with Trilogy was great, totally worth it and would do again. Cool Cats in Lahaina was good but definitely not best burger but it was a cool place to hang out and people watch. The feast at Lele Luau was so disappointing. we booked it because of the fire dancing but overall I would not recommend it. It was so dark and poorly lit you could not see anything but the stage, it was also packed with too many people so it felt way over crowded. The worst part however was the food...out of 5 courses I would say the best item was the beef short ribs that were average at best. The Kalua Pig was absolutely terrible, it was so over salted you couldn't eat it, other people there said the same thing, they don't even cook it in the ground anymore, its prepared off site at a restaurant and brought to the Luau, very disappointing, would not go back. Now for the food trucks, Merienda was definitely one of the better food trucks we went too, The Thai beef Tacos were amazing and the Chicken Sandwich was also the best I had but the best item from there not mentioned in this video was the Umami Fries, OMG we went back twice just for those, amazing!!! The other food trucks next to Merienda were also great we tried them all, I would say the vegan place is good for vegan food but you can still tell its not meat, I wasnt blown away with it by any means. Best food truck we went to was the red Pirate food truck in front of the ABC store in Whalers Village, The BEST Beer battered fish tacos ever (and im from SoCal) the grilled fish tacos were also fantastic, This place also had the best burger I had on the island and best fried shrimp. This would definitely be my number 1 food truck recommendation with Merienda a close 2nd.

Thanks and we live in Kihei and did not know about all these. We know where they are but not who is the best. I use Yelp but some times with covid especially things are out of date. Darn was just upcountry Tuesday but everything closed early. Kula Bistro was open but the back staff was coughing alot so we left. We are not early risers! We are Happy Hour kinda folks. Sticking with food trucks or takeout until I dont hear anymore coughing….Mahalo❤
