I have watched like 20 Hana videos to prepare for my upcoming trip. This is my favorite vid. Made me feel like I am doing the right thing by staying in Hana for a couple days so I can take it all in. Thanks for sharing guys!
This is the best Road to Hana video I've watched. The lady on here is so natural and the guy too. Video and couple are so relatable, felt as if I was on this trip with them. Other videos the women aren't so natural and fussing with their hair and stuff, but this lady is so natural and liked that about this video. Also, they're not trying hard to be funny or entertaining.
It's one of the best "Road to Hana" videos that I've seen. I have seen many. Great advice breaking the trip up into numerous days. That way, you're not rushing everywhere.
Hey we really appreciate that. One of our favorite adventures on Maui and tried to be as thorough as possible. I couldn’t imagine trying to do it all in one day and worth taking our time. Thanks again.
I just love this video❤ I drove the road to Hana forty years ago while on an unbelievable scuba diving trip in Maui. It's still incredibly gorgeous but there were only a couple of food stands on the road when I was there. Things have changed alot on Maui in forty years.
Well thank you very much. We appreciate that. Wow, that’s really cool to have experienced it 40 years ago and see how it has changed. Such a beautiful place.
@@tdnishio I'm so jealous. Now that I'm in my seventies, I no longer have patience for air travel. I live on the East Coast now and it's a long flight.
06/08/23 Thursday Enjoyed Yalls video, so looking forward to having this experience soon, Thanks for sharing, the advice will most definitely help us make better strategic decisions during our time there in July, excellent advice well taken, I shared Your video with my Sister, celebrating Their 45th Anniversary, My wife and I will be celebrating our 19th as well, All four of us vacationing in Hawaii for the very first time just like many Other. Thanks again Y’all Two!
So that was actually Waioka Pond (Venus Pool) however we really didn’t go into detail on that one because it can be challenging to get to and can be dangerous. They go into detail in the Shaka guide that you can download and make it pretty easy to find. It’s also on a lot of blogs.
Thank you, appreciate the comment. So, we didn’t end up staying overnight in Hana and I don’t know much about the hotels. I will say however, we had friends stay at Wai'anapanapa state park cabins. If you go to the park website, they have cabin reservations and you can actually stay at the park and they recommended it highly. I think it’s a rustic style cabin, but could be a good option.
I'm planning my trip and am considering a 1 day tour of hana or staying the night in hana to do 2 days on the road. Curious where u stayed and if you'd recommend it
I think if you stay in Hana you may get to see more and feel less rushed., we didn’t do a tour but saw plenty of people on tours and it looked like they were able to see all the stops. I’m not sure if tours go beyond Hana but wel worth it if they do. Because we were working on Maui for 3 months we didn’t stay in Hana. Just drove back to our rented place each night. Our friend was able to rent a small cabin at wainapanapa state park and if available would be a good option. Well worth it she said.
That’s a good idea, I think you’d be able to see and do more if you stayed in Hana. Then you won’t feel rushed and will really be able to enjoy the sights!
The hike itself is super short, a couple minutes of pretty flat land. I would approximate it at 150-200 yards. The very last section (30-40 feet) is downhill and could be slick pending weather.
We are doing this in a couple of months. What shoes do you recommend for being in the water and walking around on the rocks without having to switch shoes?
Both of us have different brands but they are those water sandals with velcro on the back. I think we have keen. Though we saw people with just basic water shoes that slip on as well that seemed to work. That type (either or) would be good to not have to change constantly. If you’re doing a lot of hiking we did have regular shoes as well just in case.
Yes, they have more recently required reservations which you can get online at the states website for the park. If they are full, may be able to book a tour.
Two visitors to Maui on road to Hana were carjacked and robbed at gunpoint, say they were forced to run, hide and hike for their lives. Be super careful if you come upon a very narrow section of the road and it is barricaded, forcing you to stop.
we split it up into three different days because it allowed us to see nearly all of the drive as well as not rush. It can definitely be done in a day for a majority of the stops. But will be leaving before dawn and getting back after dark.
It can definitely be packed with tourists. I would think it’s pretty packed all year round, but I think spring is a very popular season. Possibly while school is going on so less people are vacationing would be less crowded?
@@IndelibleHD oh really ?! I will travel to Maui next summer and it will be super busy then. It will be my first time there, do you know what things we must do there ? Thanks
Whoever is the Kristi who felt the need to carve her name into the rainbow eucalyptus tree, why? So we can see your name and think how self centered and without concern for nature you are? Why even be there? Obviously without gratitude for the experience.
Definitely bummer about that. Such beautiful areas and sucks to see stuff like that happen. Always trying to leave a place better than found so future generations can enjoy.
You missed the Red Sand Beach. The best little beach in Maui. A short hike from Hana. Put on good shoes because the trial is steep and rocky. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Sand_Beach
Oh my gosh! Someone had told us about this afterwards too and we were bummed about not seeing it or including it in this. But hey, I guess we have a reason to return now! 😏
@@TylerandKari Next time rent a cabin in WAIʻĀNAPANAPA STATE PARK. The limit is 5 nights. The best cabin is #5, #4 is not bad too. $100 for nonresidents, and $70 for residents of Maui County. Our friend, the Maui resident, reserved it for us. No problems. Hana is only a few minutes away. Cabins are rustic but have hot showers, refrigerators, stoves, etc.
@@jkolodzinskiwe heard about those. They were fully booked when we went. If we get a chance to return this will be an absolute must for us. Sounds like such a great spot to experience the area and be close for the next day exploring Hana.

Have done the Road to Hana twice...I recommend doing a tour . At the end of the day very tired
If we ever go back, would definitely consider that so we can rest after a long day of adventures!
I did road to Hana in May! It’s an amazing experience, drove to the very end to blk sand beach. Can’t wait to go back next year.
That road is an amazing adventure. Happy you made it all the way to the black sand beach. Worth the drive every time!
Great info. Awesome views of places to visit when in Maui. Looking forward to more!

When you're swimming in the pool with the waterfalls, is that saltwater or freshwater?
All the waterfalls were freshwater that we swam in.

How far is the hike to Venus pool and is it fairly easy? Thx Patrick

Just wanted to add the pools and hike right near the pools can be dangerous pending weather. It’s steep right as you near the pools.
@@TylerandKari thank you

That’s terrifying. As always be careful and try to pay attention to surroundings.

One day will take 10+ hours easy
Don't look down when a dump truck with a full load comes barreling at you.😂
Seriously. Not very forgiving on that road.
@@TylerandKari 10 years lived on Maui. How many a close calls. Sometimes on occasion would see a tree top parked car off the cliffs. 🥺😎🤙

Good luck
Idk of this was before the fire or after, but I heard their tourists dropped about 25% after the fired, maybe now is still the good time to go.
