Está canción RAY OF LIGHT fue la primera que escuche después de estar en coma durante una operación todavía la recuerdo con lágrimas MUCHAS, MUCHAS GRACIAS MADONNA el gusto que me dió escucharla
Well i am a big fan but I cannot say she is a great vocalist, she always have problems with the intonation, she doesn't hit every key confidently like other singers would do. But she always experiments with different sounds, with her voice and she tries to give her best. That makes her more relevant, interesting than a lot of the other great vocalist that doesn't change their sound for their whole career. She is a dancer, entertainer - this makes her bigger and better than other artists. I like this live, especially Shanti Ashtangi - I love this song. It brings me peace. I love this period of Madonna's career where her songs feature her deep voice and timbre
she deliberately mispronounced! Because in ZEn Buddhism that is encouraged! Madonna is not making a parody of an existing culture. She reinvents it but keep its Main Tenets. In Zen, changes are encouraged, so Madonna deliberately made some words pronounced with an American accent.
She really does tho, although nowadays I think she has lost her grip on the contemporary, she always knew what was up and coming and knew very well what directions to go in to stay relevant
A pesar que desafino al final de la cancion , el performance esta genial y su presencia en el escenario es unica !!! nadie como Madonna La Reina del Pop y por mucho... :)
Ray of Light was such a powerful album. It was the perfect transition from end of 90s to the 2000s, the right amount of looking back and looking forward to what's in store.
I was a teenager when first hearing of Madonna/ like a Virgin. Throughout her career she always changed her sound and stepped things up. When this album came out and I heard Ray of light for the first time. The music had a peculiar sound that I have heard before. It sounded like William Orbit. So I checked into it and when I found out he was the music behind this album I was in shock and awe and had to buy. I am a fan of William Orbit’ s music. This album is by far my favorite that Madonna has done with the help of genius William Orbit. Thanks for posting this great performance. Also loved how she had Lenny Kravitz come out and play guitar on this.
Okay...lemme say a few things: 1.) I REMEMBER this performance. I watched the VMAs that year and was so confused (as I wasn't hip to "Shanti/Ashtangi" yet) but VERY intrigued. Years later, here I am during sage and doing meditation music. 2.) This was one of the RAWEST Madonna vocal performances ever. There were really beautiful bits where you hear her really go for those high notes. Sometimes successfully, sometimes not. But it was the rawness of it all that I truly appreciate coming from someone like her. 3.) Lenny Kravitz coming out for "Ray Of Light". GENIUS! Thank you for coming to my TED Talk. #MadonnaForever

It's interesting how her vocal performance was so much better during Shanti/Ashtanghi. Something must have happened that made her nervous as she never really got into the second song, Ray of Light. And she sounds sick, too. She's never performed Ray Of Light in the original key again after this performance.
I'd say she sounded great for most of the ROL performance though? Only when she attempted to reach the high notes did she start struggling and promptly decided not to go for it
ROL is more vocally challenging, her vocals needed to be higher during the chorus. It's actually a hard song to sing live, she had to train her vocals a lot to even think of attempting it lol
Madonna is the little engine that could & would, she confessed in Truth or Dare she never claimed to be the best singer, but she would press your buttons. You know, I listened to people from around the world singing Amazing Grace, today; all amongst the COVID-19 crisis. Whether you believe in an actual deity or not, religion really does bring out the best in people.
Was this her only live performance of Shanti? I can't recall any other after this, and by the early 2000s she was more into Kabbalah and seemed like she'd left Hinduism/yoga behind.
Everyone says MDNA is such an awful album, and some people have the nerve to say that is her worst one. But just look at Falling Free, or Joan of Arc, Graffiti Heart, Borrowed Time and Wash All Over Me in Rebel Heart, I can’t forget about Beautiful Scars. One of the most poetically beautiful songs she has ever made.

@@AlinaGeorgianaNeacsu yeah, too much autotune in her late works. I think she doesn't put much effort for the vocal aspect anymore
