"Some Kinda of Fun," the other ZA outtake and "Dozen Beats Eleven" would have made a great standalone 7" single. "Some Kind of Fun" being the a-side.

The sound of Greg's bass on this track is killer heavy!!

Cool! Never heard this before, I don' think. Love Husker Du. Got me into playing music. Zen Arcade and Double Nickels..., the 2 best double LPs ever?

Good, but doesn't quite fit in with the rest of 'Zen Arcade'. The Huskers were one of the best bands of the 80's but never got the recognition from the public they deserved. REM, Pixies and especially nirvana cleaned up and owe them a huge debt. And Grant's last LP 'The Argument' is brilliant.....

First time I've heard them, Nirvana really did sound like them, a lot.

Saw them twice in Manchester, at the International, owned by the manager of the Stone Roses, another sublime undertaking. Met them too: still remember Greg Norton (bass, awesome moustache) sitting down with me and my mates and talking about our tastes in music, our hopes, our futures; and when the DJ played The Buzzcock's ' Harmony in my head' (another Manc genius band) i agreed with him it was the best thing they'd ever done. Top guy. Grant Hart was manic and Bob Mould surly and angry. Still one of the most intense band's i've ever seen. New Day Rising, Flip Your Wig, and Zen Arcade are stone dead classics, and, i've just got the latter through the post today via an ebay win! The gift that keeps on giving!
ps Read Michael Azerrad's brilliant 'Our band could be your life' which i've got through the post today too! (not making this up). First read parts of it in 2004 in Lawrence Ferlinghetti's 'City Lights' bookshop in San Fransisco....

You've been to City Lights in the City? Great place.
Congratulations for winning on your ebay bids, you're a lucky guy. The timing has to be just right, there can be some really cool stuff out there and for whatever reason not many people have taken notice of it, or they forget to set for automatic bid.
You have good taste in music and have had some cool experiences. The equivilent for me would have been to have met Kurt Cobain, or Billy Joe Armstrong from Green Day.
      Have fun with your winnings.

I went to Seattle in autumn '94 just after Kurt killed himself, to see a girl who i'd met in the Hacienda and was a native of Seattle. We fell out quite quickly, but before we did she wanted me to meet a guy she knew called Dylan Carlson who lent Cobain the shotgun he killed himself with, and went on to found the band Earth, who i quite like. But i didn't. Mind you, DC was a smackhead then. It was a curse of the grunge scene, as it was in 1977 in blighty.
ps the reason we fell out was because she was a frigid bitch. The frigid bitch.

Ooh, a twoofer is stalking me across multiple threads in a futile attempt to rile me. OK, challenge accepted. Now, is it true that your mother's incontinence pants are made out of the recycled tyres from Lewis Hamilton's recent F1 triumphs? If so she should get Dunlop to sponsor her minge.
      Over to you.......

If you are good at "Rockband", pick up a real guitar and try to play something. Tune it to "drop D" ... that way the top 3 strings do a root, fifth, and octive (D-A-D). You can't go wrong.

This is cool but I can see why they left it off the album as it's relatively throwaway.

this should NOT be on rock band or guitar hero. those games tend to bastardize great songs. haven't you hear X or DK on that 80s one? awful
