im 15 and have never given up and i go offshore on a regular basis with ma dad who is a professional fisho and im already at his level because ive never stopped learning and listening so mate just dont ever give up and eventually you'll get to that level
It does not matter even the tiniest bit that he lost the fish. This is one of my new favorite surf fishing videos, and something that I have only dreamt about doing while fishing in the U.S.

Actually the amount of line in the water will act as drag, so wear out the fish by reeling in slower than usual and let the fish tire itself out by dragging all the line between you and the fish. The trick is to keep it tight enough to keep it hooked. Looks fun. Circle hooks might be a good choice here.
But you need to catch up as much line possible before it makes a long run

While casting, there was no line left in the spool for the run. Should have kept atleast half spool for the fight. Great video.

You need either a Penn 10500, a Stella 30000, or a Okuma Makaira 30000 for doing that. They hold way more braid than my new Saltiga 20000. But I really suggest a Penn Spinfisher Vi or Slammer 3 or 4. As they are quite cheap (especially the SSVi 10500) for a reel that is sealed, easy to clean and not a major if dropped in the sand. Epic drag too. I have all four i've mentioned. I use the Penn for landbased missions, and the Stella/Makaira on the boat. We sell every Penn 10500 we get at work, all for the drone fishing craze that happening. Or even an older Spinfisher V 10500. Not as sealed, but if find cheap, go for it.

In South Africa we can fit roughly 800m of 50lb braid on 14000 saltiga , drop a bait 400m and still have 400m to fight the fish . Just have to check braids diameter compared to is breaking strain . A good braid will be around .19 to .23 of a mm in 50lb . I honestly don’t use the PE ratings

If you can get a diameter of around 0.18 - 0.25 mm diameter with braid around 50lb that's perfect
