I've actually purchased 3 of these for special projects, and for the price they're a surprisingly decent guitar. No, one isn't getting a Cadillac at a Moped price, nor should expect to. But for what it is, it works. So yup Scro... fully agree.
@@EnvyOw To answer your question directly "Should I buy this?", my opinion is: there are better options. This guitar is fine, it plays well, it's not a bad guitar. But it has only one pickup (by the bridge), which is not the best for sound. A lot of new players like it because it gives that high-pitch "lead guitar" sound that new rockers are into. But it won't reflect the full potential of the guitar. The better buys out there run between $100 and $150 or so, depending on when you hit the right sale (which is cheap for a decent instrument-- or for a hobby of any kind). I would recommend the Fender Squier Bullet Strat, the Fender Squire Bullet Telecaster, the Epiphone Les Paul Special (I love the P-90 version, but that's personal preference) or other low-end Les Paul models, or a starter Ibanez. One of my favorite guitars that's fairly new on the market is the Fender Squier Bullet Mustang-- but be aware it's a 24" scale rather than 25.5". The pickups though are excellent as is the ease of play for new players (you don't have to stretch your fingers quite as far). Any of these guitars would make a good starter instrument and then some. There are other guitars on the market, but these are my personal favorites. The second question that comes up however, is "What amplifier should I get?" That's a whole nuther thing, as the sound produced depends as much or more on the amp than it does on the guitar itself. And... unless you happen upon a really good used amp (always a gamble), will cost about as much as your guitar. You can get a pretty decent new amp for $100. My thoughts there are take the easy path: go with a Fender amp and you can't go wrong. The Fender Champion 20 or Fender Mustang I are both excellent options. (Go with the 20 if you want a straight, easy-to-use amp, the Mustang if you want all sorts of fiddly dials and sounds.) There are other options for more money and specific needs, but for the beginning player who just wants good sound and versatility, the Fender amp works. Others here may have alternate suggestions.
it'll DEFINITELY, DEFINITELY sound worse, and here's why(or an example). People like Jack White (at least in the old white stripes days) get fantastic tone because he uses fantastic gear, even though he is using guitars from the 60's that were like 10 dollars in a grocery store lol. AKA NOT GOOD guitars at all. But they have that fucked up (good fucked up) sound, and through great gear sounds like what we know as 'good tone'. If youve ever played an old harmony, airline, or K guitar, or a sears guitar....ITS NOT GOOD...it just has a sound cool sound, but they are NOT good guitars. To play it, is an intense struggle, and you just cant play certain things sometimes, aka wont sound good or be out of tune or fret out. Jack White talks about liking to have to fight the guitar and how it fuels is creativity, kind of guiding him to the remaining spots of the guitar that still sound good despite its flaws in what we know today as good build and design. Point being im sure this guitar is much better than what Jack White is famous for using in recordings, was even cheaper quality than this guitar, meant as a toy for even 4 yr old kids because rock was 'the rage' and every kid had to have one sitting in the corner of their room, in the 60's, even when guitar design was also experimental and not all that great sometimes. But this video has good tone, right? So does Jack White, using those flawed guitars. We know that a line 6 spiders distortion sounds like garbage, even if you run an original 1959 les paul into it :)
Now lemme say those guitars are actually fantastic, because of their tone, most of that has prob 70% to do with their unique film pickups that sound super raunchy and fat, and the rest is from always having some kind of fucking weird bridge design that isnt super effecient like modern stuff (lets be real for as cheap as this thing is it "technically" works like a strat with its bridge) and not even aligned with traditional "good" designs of that time so gives a slightly different tone and well, a bad setup :) That gives it the fight jack white talks about.
OMG, a guitar pulled straight out of the box may need to be setup. Since setup is a highly personal thing and the fact that it takes two hours to learn how to do it, why not stop your whining and figure it out for yourself. I setup every guitar I buy. Only a moron would avoid learning how to do it himself. Instead, you come to the internet and bitch about Gibson guitars.
Why didn't you demonstrate clean and crunch tones, man? All we heard was your layered, eq'd, manipulated recording of it. Not a very good assessment of its tone.
I own this guitar. Been practicing on it for well over a year. It's stays in tune quite well. It doesn't sustain well though (especially the high e string), and that makes tapping quite difficult. I have to almost punch the damn sometimes. It's certainly not bad for the price, and a good tool for practice or at home play since it's cheap and won't break the bank if anything happens to it. Not for the studio though. There's a review for anyone interested.
I had AmazonBasics computer speakers, worked great. I would rather buy a $75 AmazonBasics guitar than from a random seller lol, but after watching this video i'd buy this one
To be fair, anything sounds good plugged into a mesa boogie. And I've had $200 budget guitars that wouldn't keep tune and a plethora of other issues. That's about the best $75 guitar I've ever seen.
It's quite obvious really, that the amp is a way more vital component. Last piece of the loop will always determine the outcome. And given that cheap guitar... Meh, most guitars are run through several effects, it's the least "real" instrument in the entire band. As long as the pickups aren't total crap and the guitar can be tuned, it's good enough. Only the player will actually give a shit if it's a 300 $ or 3000 $ guitar..
+TeeFunkable What??? Been playing since 1977. I couldn't agree less with your statement. If your effects and rig are creating your overall sound, that's sad.
So, uh...where was the review? This felt like a six-minute way of saying "it is a cheap guitar that is a guitar and also is cheap." What's good and bad about it? You have to remember that not everyone who sees a video like this is going to be a guitar enthusiast; it's more likely they'll be looking for an opinion on whether or not they should consider buying it.
@@Krose8266 lmao, it's fine. I mean, if you can't afford anything more, it's far better than nothing at all. As long as it stays in tune and plays the note you're playing
Dude. Seriously. It sounds like shit clean, it's a $75 guitar. Run through decent effects, and a good amp, and it will sound good but I'm willing to be he had to work hard to fret it due to the string height. As long as it stays in tune though it would he decent for beginners. Any electric guitar can sound good with enough processing and a decent amp as long as it's functional and holds tune. You just know clean it was garbage.
I would have loved to have had that guitar to learn on back in the 60s, cheap guitars back then we're all but unplayable. I'm curious though how could you tell it was a four piece body
Mmmmh, what is the point of testing the sound of a cheap guitar but with an amp, EQ and some disto? You should have tested it in clean sound, and maybe compared it to an expensive guitar with clean sound. That would have been a real test of the guitar sound. Because with any cheap instrument, if I master it with Ozone + some Waves audio effect I can make it become a fucking killing instrument too. ^^
For high gain, sure. When playing cleans, the guitar starts to play a bigger role. At the end of the day though, I'd take a properly set up intermediate level guitar with a quality amp, cab, speakers, and pedals. My favorite are the people who drop the cash on a good amp and plug it in to the cheapest cab they can get a hold of
It's not easy to justify knowing all the thousands you've spent chasing the perfect guitar, when you can totally smoke on one for less than 100. 😃 no, they didn't make them this good when i was starting out either.
It's in tune and it can be played, nothing to complain about. During communism in Poland where I live, there was only one guitar brand "Defil", those shit can't be tuned, can't be played, was self-destructive in a short period of time and even can cause health problems. This guitar is a monster comparing to Defils.
The subtext of this entire video was "holy shit, I've spent 1000s on guitars and this is okay for the money"... it sounded pretty good through the MB especially considering i was streaming this on my phone!
Now what is good and bad about this cheap thing? Not really a review, he's just displeased because it's cheap. Looks, plays and sounds like a guitar to me. In which way are high priced guitars better?
Daddel666 I own this guitar because I have a Martin acoustic and I couldn’t find a lefty electric anywhere so I got it on amazon and it’s pretty nice for $100
In which way are higj priced guitars better? Is that a joke? better feel? Good bridge? Reliable tuners? Reliable nut? Quality wood? Good humbuckers? Good electronics and wiring?
I think the OP knows that the hardware on an expensive guitar is better, but explaining *why* would make the video more compelling. Cheap stuff is cheap. Yer. But is it usable? Is it cost effective? Is it reliable? If I play this in my bedroom through a $300 amp will I notice the difference between a a $100, 500, 1500 guitar? That sort of thing
It's actually the speakers. Put good speakers on the cheapest amp and you'll be able to get a decent clean tone. Using 6" speakers on a $2,000 amp will make that amp sound like it was a $40 Walmart special.
Any amp would be useless without good speakers. I was expecting that to go without saying, but for those who wouldn't know any better....yes great speakers matter too.
The size of the speakers matters very little, if at all. There are plenty of companies out there that make boutique 6 inch speakers that will blow the shit out of your average 12 inch celestion.
not really....the SPEAKERS. You can hook up a 15 watt practice amp through 4 X12 celestions..it'll sound kick ass or just like a 100 watt head...just wont be as loud....but you'll get the a fuller sound with more bottom end. Plus it'll save electricity. It's plenty loud for band practice. i cant even crank my 100 watt more than 1 or 2. For band practice it's set at 4.lmao but with a 15 watt You can crank it up With as 6 or 8 " it's not going to have a fuller low end. i have floor pedal , daw with amp sims....up the wazzo. The trick is to run it the daws as if it's just a floor processer into your guitar amp when practicing with the band....the sound waves are thicker...vs running it though a surround sound. You;ll get clip using the surround sound by the bass drums or bass...because it's thinner. My 4 x12 celestion cabinets cause $800=ea I got some use cheap 4 x12. It's okay for clean....but too bassy for rock or metal Im also using a 65 watt Fender with a 12" to practice at the moment...it's okay for clean, Jazz, country. It sucks for metal..Fuck it..I just to through my marshall for rock and metal.
Once again 4 years later... a lot of these "knock off" or cheapest guitars are and can be truly some of the best. Once they're correctly set up with some good strings (even a pickup swap), you have a 200$ stage ready guitar. Not all of us are professionals that afford the $5000 or "gifted" guitar from (insert name brand company here)...Some of the best guitars I've purchased were from pawn shops and have gig'd em awesomely.
josh lawton It is a good learner gutair it is the same one that I have looks the same but different brand name it came with a cheap amp but I will learn it then get a better one its what its for
Seltun Koko I was looking for this kind of comment everywhere dude. Why is no one talking about the way he is testing the guitar is really wrong. I am disappointed tbh
Seltun Koko He is a metal youtuber. Most people who watch his videos play metal music which means he is testing the guitar for them. He isn't testing to see if the guitar is good for every type of music.
Yeah, call me prejudice, but a humbucker through a Tube Screamer and Boogie pretty much just sounds like every other humbucker through a Tube Screamer and Boogie to me :P lol
You sir got ripped off I found an electric guitar w/amp,gig bag, cord, strap, pic and extra set of strings on amazon for $64.94 LOL.And ebay has the same set for $27.99 free shipping.STILL LOL.
One thing I noticed about cheap guitars I got over the years (yay, being poor!) was that in three of three cases, the frets were wider than the neck. Only just, but they protruded and would cut into my left hand. I went and filed those down on the bass guitar I still use because I couldn't stand it anymore and it's otherwise a pretty solid bass from what little judgement I have on the matter.
I've owned this model, but it was called "Assassin". Can't remember now. I did everything I could so as to make it playable: filed down any overlapping frets, sanding the back of the neck, adjust the truss rod, bridge saddles, pickup ht. Cleaned the pots, volume and tone. Tighten any loose parts. Change the strings ofc. Those tuners are sealed ones. Holds better tuning when strings are stretched out. Very important to do that!! I like the one humbucker thing. More Rock sound. For me, I did it and it's not a problem. Played well for me. I even played onstage with it for the more heavy music my cover band did. Worked. BTW, I owned a "Davison" brand. A lot of these are made in the same factory, just a different brand tagged onto it. IF you want to spend some $, buy a better humbucker. Can be done. Even a used one would improve the sound. For what it's worth, with a Lil elbow grease, Bueno.
that is the exact guitar i have. i got it at big lots for $100 and it came with an amp. gotta say, it's not half bad with my cobalt strings, fender amp, and $50 zoom pedal. and just to piss everyone off, i have a warlock bass, and it sounds fine, bitches.
My cheap ass second hand epiphone les paul special ii sounds exactly the same as my expensive dean razorback when put through my zoom pedal - every guitar sounds the same through it...assuming you're talking about the multi effects zoom
i can't lie, I'd love to have a high end guitar, even though I'm not very good, and the difference in sound is negligible. probably better off investing in a good amp.
a gold top gibby is my dream guitar. I get that sound quality is better and the hardware is top notch, but I bought a 15 dollar soldering gun and a spent a few hundred dollars on pickups and knobs and wired them into my epiphone. and she soungs like gold. I would highly recommend it. she's a 600 dollar epi with the heart of a 3000 dollar gibby
Wtf, try to set it up and tell us about intonation, so we know if it is usable as an instrument. If i watch this video or the picture on amazon makes no difference, i learn nothing.
I actually got the Assassin by BGuitars when I was first starting out. The headstock actually weighs more than the entire rest of guitar. It sags heavily to the left when hanging over your shoulders. That being said, it was a really good beginner guitar, and for that price, totally worth it.
Because before you test a clean guitar you have to be able to play clean bluesy guitar. Which most metalheads cant even phathom. Just 'Crank it up and play power chords man!"
We already know the cheap guitar with a good amp will sound way, way better. I couldn't even tell that this "sounded" like a cheap guitar. Just sounded like a regular super distorted drop D track! The way it feels on the fingers is another story, but we hear the tone here and come on lets get real, it could have been on an album and you wouldn't have given it a second thought. Half a mile high action though, yikes
I haven't got the best equipment too, even if its pretty nice for me. Im playing on an Epiphone Les Paul Special 2 (Not sure about the Price, got it in an "starter pack") and an Ibanez GRG ( I don't remember the numbers behind :D), the amp of the starter kit, goddamn, it sucks, it really rapes your ears. got as soon as possible an Orange Crush 35rt, and man, even for 300€ thats a damn good sound you get out of it from both guitars. You can have Expensive, high end guitars, but if your amp sucks, you'll never get good sound of the guitar...
You made it sound amazing! I'm just surprised without it being intonated how did it sound perfectly in tune? Every time I pick up a cheaper guitar at Guitar Center or other music stores they need intonated badly. They can be in tune while playing one chord and out of tune in another chord.
Why is it when someone reviews a cheap guitar they always bitch about it not being delivered in tune, the intonation being off, the pickups needing adjustment and the action being too high? But when they demo a $2,000 guitar with the same issues, it's always "Of course, every new guitar needs a professional set-up"?
The trick to cheap amps is a speaker. Get a decent 1X12 or 2x12 cabinet with your favorite speakers and you should be able to get a decent clean tone out of the cheapest amp.
I think lots of people have come to realize that as long as the basics are good, it will be a good guitar. As long as the neck is straight, the bridge is in the right spot, the tuners don't slip and you have a good setup done, even the cheapo stuff will play well. There is no super secret voodoo magic to pickups, they're just magnets with coils of wire. SE Asian manufacturing has come a long way and has obviated the need to spend $1000usd on an off-the-shelf guitar. Custom stuff built by hand still might merit its asking price, but if you're buying a superstrat clone, don't bother spending more than you have to. An extra $100 will get you a couple sets of good strings and a detailed setup, which is far more important than spending an extra $100 at time of purchase.
Seriously, I bought a cheap 45 dollar used guitar and took it apart and sheilded the insides of it, leveled the frets and everything and it sounds awesome
i have a dean evo xm i bought in 2011 used at guitar center. i just changed the pups. it's a great guitar. i got it for 89 bucks ... i had the GFS fat pats laying around. I was playing these gigs in really rough venues...not the place you take your 1500 dollar us strat or whatever else. but this..if someone falls on it or whatever....its not a big deal. im not saying nice guitars aren't nice. im just saying....cheap stuff is way better than it used to be and you can make it work
Yep, you are right. If there is no initial problems, the main problems with cheap guitars comes in the long run. Try to set up heavier strings, discover that truss rod can be not so great. Play a month and discover that your frets are kind of eaten by strings... Then goes your pots, bridge saddles, tuners and even nut... And do not even try to use tremolo! In first year you would exchange everything except wood, sometimes doubling or tripling price of a guitar. But the real deal of a guitar is expected to last several years in hard giging/touring/sweating conditions with minimal maintenance. And unfortunately I have not seen any miracles under 600-700 USD.
Kayitare Eddy aren’t u right next to Democratic republic of Congo and Above Burundi and then to the right of y’all is Tanzania Am i right? We just learned all the countries of Africa and had a test over them
So I bought an SX strat knockoff on Amazon. It was a package deal and came with a cloth gig bag and a 10 watt amp. I play lefty, so my choice was limited. It came to just over $75.00 bucks. The finish is great, no flaws. Bass wood body- it appears to be a one piece unit. Adjustable maple neck and fret board. It has 21 jumbo frets and the frets were perfectly set. String height was a little high, not horrible, and aside from the g string being slightly off it was perfectly intonated. I took about 20 minutes to make all the adjustments for set up. The pups were weak, that goes without saying, but the tone was very good. I've owned and played Fender, Gibson, Gretsch and Ibanez guitars, and with a pup upgrade this SX is not shabby by comparison. I was so impressed I bought another one for my daughter and the quality was the same. Maybe I got lucky twice?
Hey Fluff, if you’re seriously considering giving it away, contact Share The Music on Facebook at facebook.com/sharethemusicindiana. They’ll make sure it goes to a child or a music program that really needs it but can’t afford it otherwise. Thanks, and great video as always!
Jesse Deleon There’s a lot of great places to donate instruments to. Share The Music is just the one that I support with my own channel. They’re local to me and the Founder/CEO is a friend of mine.
Robert's Guitar Dungeon for sure! I said teen challenge since I work with them a lot of helping the younger kids get shoes, clothes, and a place to stay. I know a lot of them want to play music but can’t afford it I checked out that link that’s awesome man!
the fact that he has a minecraft pic as his profile pic.....it wouldn't surprise me (Then again I should probably keep my mouth shut cause I got a Roblox logo on my profile pic)
I just clicked on the link for the fun of it to see the ad for the guitar. It must be in high demand because it’s $111.00 now! And the video of the guy demoing it is absolutely hilarious! He says he is a “session guitarist and lead solo player” that has been teaching guitar for over 50 years. The dude looks like he’s barely be 50 years old. Guess he’s been teaching since the day his mother squirted him out. I love when he describes the features. He says it has a “screaming humbucker” and a 25.5 inch RADIUS neck. I needed a good laugh today. Thanks Fluff!!
it was partly a design flaw - did you see how high the nut was? but I agree... he should have set it up to see how good he could get it to play and sound. would have been much more informative than this half assed review.
It's probably still much better than the entry level "budget" guitars of the 50's and 60's. No matter how much instruments from that time get romanticised, there was some real crap around at the lower end of the spectrum. Manufacturing methods are getting better all the time...
That being said, my entry level '62 Sears Danelectro (amp in the case!) is my favorite guitar of all time :) I think Page's was either the '60 or '61 model that he used on Kashmir and in concert. I remember reading he is quite fond of it also. I'll never sell mine as it's my main guitar
This guys attitude is garage just because you have expansive shit doesn’t mean you have to show off lmao it’s cheap so it’s affordable to the people that can’t get stuff like you do
Cheap guitars can be made playable with precise fret leveling, nut upgrade/filing, bridge upgrade, pickup upgrade, tuning peg/machine head upgrade, potentiometer and input jack upgrades, and proper setup.
Also, add some strap locks and pickup cavity shielding. Most of the parts aren’t too expensive, even higher end components. The real investment is time and energy learning how to do it right with the right tools.
Mike McKeen Exactly. Bahahahaha. But can be done ad hoc over time, depending upon which components suck most. Might be more efficient to just buy a completely new neck with the right length/radius and bolt it on.
ablacon64 Still less expensive than buying a $1,000 guitar with inferior setup. The tradeoff for doing it yourself is time over money, however. Once you learn how to work on a cheap tinkerer, then you can build custom guitars or maintain the ones you care about most without being at the mercy of overpriced techs. Every guitar player should know how to optimize their tools.
Just bought a Squier Affinity Strat in mint condition for $60 at a pawn shop. Still had the plastic on the pickguard . Put the Tusq nut and string trees on, polished the frets. I like it a lot.
Alkali In my experience about 99% are really kind towards other opinions about Sabaton. My point has always been, we're different people, we can have our own opinion over things like music.
w00dmii5t3r Im a Sabaton Fan myself. It seemed just pretty obvious for me that someone will feed the Troll, what didn't happen. In fact I was just joking. ;)
Disclaimer: I am a below beginner and couldn't carry a tune to safe my life 😆, I briefly played as a kid, and now I am getting back into it with my daughter in my later 30's, her grandparents got her a Taylor acoustic. So I recently ordered a beginner electric guitar kit from Amazon for about $150us for myself, so I can play with and kinda encourage her (it's now Sept 2020,) it has a unanimous 5⭐ rating from people who say they know nothing to people claiming to be "seasoned players," currently playing on Fender etc. They say its definitely not a Fender, but it could hold it's own...haven't gotten it yet, but can't wait to see how it is. Lol
The trick would be he goes BWOOONGGGG and then its all fucking out of tune because this is 75$ and fuck no is that gonna be an in-tune trem. They even locked it down from the factory cause they probably know LOL
I got one of these and I'm upgrading the hell out of it. It has a ridiculously good acoustic resonant sound... and the pickup ACTUALLY HAS A NICKEL BACKPLATE!!! I have 30 guitars... idk why but I really like this cheap viper guitar. Lol. I really do. Its badass

Add in the fact that a new $2,000 Gibson guitar may need a set up and fret dressing.

When the comment section has a better review in it..
do high notes sound terrible for you on low e string?
I suggest upgrading the nut to improve sustain. Change strings every couple of months - it's easier than you think as long as you have a backup set

“Let’s see if it’s in tune”
BWAAAAAAAOOWWWWWWW
....”close!”
I lost it.
Ha ! Yeah, I had a good chuckle on that one too. Cheers mr. Reid.
Me too, best part of the video...
i'm still laughing
Me too, that was hilarious. How mr. Reid typed it as bwaaaaaaooowwwww added to that for me.

It would be dope if the brand name was “Amazon basics”
Kirby Rodriguez I liked your comment just because of your picture 😂😂😂👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
lol
I had AmazonBasics computer speakers, worked great. I would rather buy a $75 AmazonBasics guitar than from a random seller lol, but after watching this video i'd buy this one
@@AtlasCompleXtheProd amazon basics products are the same they just have the amazon brand attached
Make a video of you upgrading this guitar. I'm talking fishman pickup, evertune bridge, locking tuners, graphite nut, scalloped frets, proper set up.
And start a war in the comment section about tone woods and how upgrading that means nothing? :D I could totally see that happening...
Donray92 my plan all along muhahahahaha.
“The neck feels like a chopstick”. Priceless.
yes, agreed. love the idea
just a good setup and strings would do wonders...still sounded good tho surprisingly
To be fair, anything sounds good plugged into a mesa boogie. And I've had $200 budget guitars that wouldn't keep tune and a plethora of other issues. That's about the best $75 guitar I've ever seen.
DarkestofTimes For 200 I got my Jackson Dinky 7 string, now I’m using a Music Man Monarchy Majesty
And also..with massive distortion gain and eq.. should've try it clean sound.
Most guitars won’t hold tune because people don’t know how to set them up properly….
Now the cheapest guitar on eBay
Cheapest guitar and amp
A broken daisy rock in like 10 pieces lol
Ryan Bruce yeah, I seen some really really cheap guitar.
Ryan Bruce eBay? No no no, AliExpress and DX, that would be awesomely crappy.
On wish
Proof that you can plug literally anything into a Mesa and it will sound godly
*YEAH*
cheap guitar + expensive amp vs expensive guitar and cheap amp !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
spacetime Andertons had a crack at that
Former will win
It's quite obvious really, that the amp is a way more vital component. Last piece of the loop will always determine the outcome. And given that cheap guitar... Meh, most guitars are run through several effects, it's the least "real" instrument in the entire band. As long as the pickups aren't total crap and the guitar can be tuned, it's good enough. Only the player will actually give a shit if it's a 300 $ or 3000 $ guitar..
amp is more important
+TeeFunkable What??? Been playing since 1977.
I couldn't agree less with your statement.
If your effects and rig are creating your overall sound, that's sad.
So, uh...where was the review? This felt like a six-minute way of saying "it is a cheap guitar that is a guitar and also is cheap." What's good and bad about it? You have to remember that not everyone who sees a video like this is going to be a guitar enthusiast; it's more likely they'll be looking for an opinion on whether or not they should consider buying it.
Thank you, same thoughts here!
Likewise, i was annoyed by the snark
Yeah i came here to see i still dont know if i should buy it or not
... no. Don’t buy an off brand guitar for $75 on Amazon... Darwin, help us.
@@Krose8266 lmao, it's fine. I mean, if you can't afford anything more, it's far better than nothing at all. As long as it stays in tune and plays the note you're playing
Today's lesson, kids?
It's that if you're a metal head (like me), you can get by with a much smaller guitar budget when your amp's good.
Or if you have the free Amped Roots Fluff FREE vst!
You should have played it clean beacause you can't really tell how it sounds with that much distorsion
Distortion*
Because *
Dude.
I thought his amp sounded pretty good.
You can tell that it doesn't sound like straight mud!
they ALL sound the same with 400lbs of distortion and index-finger chords.
Exactly. Useless video.
Shitty guitar player
No, they really don't.
index-finger chords are what, barre chords?
Yeah, but what a studio!
I would have loved to have had that guitar to learn on back in the 60s, cheap guitars back then we're all but unplayable. I'm curious though how could you tell it was a four piece body
Moral of the story: amazing amp = amazing results
And some background drums
And mixing.
That was my experience with the same type of guitar. Played through a 1/2 stack Mesa Boogie and FX. Damn!!
Not always. Some guitars just sound like garbage. This one wasn't one of them.
Play it clean ya turkey.
How boring.
Ali Zurix mathrock?
Ha😂😂 I laughed way harder than I thought I would lol😂
clean? fluff only know GAIN
Lmfao Bruh
Mmmmh, what is the point of testing the sound of a cheap guitar but with an amp, EQ and some disto? You should have tested it in clean sound, and maybe compared it to an expensive guitar with clean sound. That would have been a real test of the guitar sound.
Because with any cheap instrument, if I master it with Ozone + some Waves audio effect I can make it become a fucking killing instrument too. ^^
So what you're both saying is the guitar doesn't matter at all. Its all the other gadgets. Why even bother with a 500$-2000$ guitar?
this also shows that amp is way more important than guitar haha
For tone, maybe, but for playability and durability, the guitar is important, too
For high gain, sure. When playing cleans, the guitar starts to play a bigger role. At the end of the day though, I'd take a properly set up intermediate level guitar with a quality amp, cab, speakers, and pedals. My favorite are the people who drop the cash on a good amp and plug it in to the cheapest cab they can get a hold of
And a person who can play guitar 😀
A good mix can cover up a whole lot
Yeah man! Absolutly! But I have to say this guitar looks nice.
So the moral of the story is ..... start saving and get a MESA BOOGIE amp :D
2400$ Amp + Post EQ = Nice sound
It's not easy to justify knowing all the thousands you've spent chasing the perfect guitar, when you can totally smoke on one for less than 100. 😃 no, they didn't make them this good when i was starting out either.
It's in tune and it can be played, nothing to complain about. During communism in Poland where I live, there was only one guitar brand "Defil", those shit can't be tuned, can't be played, was self-destructive in a short period of time and even can cause health problems. This guitar is a monster comparing to Defils.
Łukasz Jamrugiewicz ..."and even can cause health problems"...
Wow, talking about suffering for your art...literally...
You should post more comments about your experiences under communism.
Łukasz Jamrugiewicz But some acoustic defils were not really that bad
Łukasz Jamrugiewicz Where can I buy one? I love a killer guitar 😆
He didn't experience Communism.
Build quality is the biggest difference, as long as everything works on the guitar it can be set up to play just as well as any other.
The biggest lesson anyone needs to learn here is your amp is the most important piece of equipment you'll ever own.
You can hook up a 15 watt practice amp through
4 X12 celestions..it'll sound kick ass or just like a 100 watt head...just wont
be as loud....but you'll get the a fuller sound with more bottom end. Plus it'll save electricity. It's plenty loud for band practice. i cant even crank my 100 watt
more than 1 or 2. For band practice it's set at 4.lmao
but with a 15 watt You can crank it up
With as 6 or 8 " it's not going to have a fuller low end.
i have floor pedal , daw with amp sims....up the wazzo.
The trick is to run it the daws as if it's just a floor processer into your guitar amp
when practicing with the band....the sound waves are thicker...vs running it
though a surround sound. You;ll get clip using the surround sound by the bass drums or bass...because it's thinner.
My 4 x12 celestion cabinets cause $800=ea
I got some use cheap 4 x12. It's okay for clean....but too bassy for rock
or metal
Im also using a 65 watt Fender with a 12" to practice at the moment...it's okay for clean, Jazz, country. It sucks for metal..Fuck it..I just to through
my marshall for rock and metal.
Audio-video syncing is the most important skill you'll ever learn
The lesson learned here: Spend al your money an a sick amp and buy a 100 dollar guitar
Daniel as long as it feels nice to play cheap guitar all the way
Not going too work for the ocd’s😂
Daniel If you were able to save up $1000, you could purchase a decent guitar for around $300, a $500 Amp and have the remainder for pedals and cables.
Or, a couple hundred more and get an Ibanez RG for like 400ish.
TL;DR: the guy talks, he doesn't really demo the guitar or how it sounds like. No point to watch.
@@spacegh0st177 He did not even demo the guitar. We could've heard the sound of the guitar if he did not add distortions or something.

Would've been cool to see what it sounds like
I know... this guy really missed the chance to do a good informative review.

The guy is a $75 reviewer. What a tool. Too concerned with being cute than doing real review.

Elliot Woodhouse mint guitars
Pacificas are made so well. I sold mine about 6 years ago and still regret it most days
I sold mine too. Really regret it.
Pacificas have the benefit of being QC'd by a very reputable company, so even their cheapest instrument will be at least playable.
your sarcastic and sassy attitude towards the thing is pretty annoying

Don't read people's criticisms of his videos.
I agree, this video was sort of pointless but its really funny to see people defend whatever he says. Its so pathetic.
That guitar sounded pretty good. Makes me think it's more important to have a good amp and pedals then an expensive guitar and cheap amp.

If you wanna test that guitar, better test the clean tone.
Seltun Koko I was looking for this kind of comment everywhere dude. Why is no one talking about the way he is testing the guitar is really wrong. I am disappointed tbh
And he has time to clap back at other dudes that criticized his review. Test the clean tone dude.
Seltun Koko he probably doesn't think it's real music if it isn't metal.

I figured a $2400 amp could make a turd sound amazing as well lol
Josue Samaniego Exactly.
Well. Humbucker in a strat. Should not sound bad if they are in tune.
plus it being with distortion and in a full metal mix will help hide a lot of faults
spottedstar1123 exactly. Easy to fix in a full mix.
You could plug a pancake into that signal chain and it'd sound amazing.
The thing is my uncle got me an expensive guitar for my birthday. I tumble on this video and I see my guitar. no kidding
NotOfficialJoshMusic Well you have a very shitty guitar then.
Israel
Its a great guitar... is what you do with it that matters.
Awwww uncle bad touch
Fucking bummer. 🙃
This video just goes to show that the amp/eq is far more important to sound than the guitar itself, lol
Great idea!
you should steal his idea and do the cheapest drum set on amazon.
He's gonna end up with the Hello Kitty drum set! LOL
yeah Kitty Kitty Kitty 😂
ablacon64 Glenn should ask Mike Portnoy to do demo with it 😂
Cheapest vs Most Expensive Bass Player on Cragislist. See if there's an IQ difference.
that is the exact guitar i have. i got it at big lots for $100 and it came with an amp. gotta say, it's not half bad with my cobalt strings, fender amp, and $50 zoom pedal.
and just to piss everyone off, i have a warlock bass, and it sounds fine, bitches.
My cheap ass second hand epiphone les paul special ii sounds exactly the same as my expensive dean razorback when put through my zoom pedal - every guitar sounds the same through it...assuming you're talking about the multi effects zoom
all I play is cheap guitars. a 5000 dollar guitar wont make me play better.
lil Wayne and Jonas Fucknut prove that money doesn't buy skill
yeah, the one with like 50 or 100 effects, looper, and drum loops. that thing is amazing for 50 bucks, just for the looping alone.
i can't lie, I'd love to have a high end guitar, even though I'm not very good, and the difference in sound is negligible. probably better off investing in a good amp.
a gold top gibby is my dream guitar.
Why do people who demo guitars always insist on playing at maximum distortion? Doesn't tell you a bloody thing about what it sounds like.
How about on Craigslist
Oh wait you might get kidnapped
Wtf, try to set it up and tell us about intonation, so we know if it is usable as an instrument. If i watch this video or the picture on amazon makes no difference, i learn nothing.
I actually got the Assassin by BGuitars when I was first starting out. The headstock actually weighs more than the entire rest of guitar. It sags heavily to the left when hanging over your shoulders. That being said, it was a really good beginner guitar, and for that price, totally worth it.
Why do review channels never use a clean sound when reviewing a cheap guitar lol
Beacouse they really do not have that amount of brain capability
an expensive guitar would sound like shit through a shitty amp. the amp is 1000 times more important than the guitar. class is dismissed.
STROWEN (under the age of 7)

Because before you test a clean guitar you have to be able to play clean bluesy guitar. Which most metalheads cant even phathom. Just 'Crank it up and play power chords man!"
Do I sense a cheap guitar + expensive amp vs expensive guitar and cheap amp vid on the horizon?
James Hooker expensive amp is gonna sound better 99% of the time
We already know the cheap guitar with a good amp will sound way, way better.
This
I think chapman did this video.
Humbly requesting a video where you make this as good as possible with upgrades.
Best sounding guitar on your channel so far

You call it cheap but it's just a dream for me to get my own guitar !! 4 days in a week I walk about 5 km too see my friend who own acoustic guitar !!

I don't think it's unfair to expect a $75 China-direct guitar to need a setup. Personally I would have expected that to be part of the review.
Maybe I got lucky twice?
that's living proof that this guy can make any guitar sound good regardless of brand lol

I'm pretty sure they were stock strings too, which on these guitars are barely guitar strings at all (compared to proper strings anyway)
"This gig bag feels like it's made of recycled raincoats" LMAO
You should set it up. The action isn't a design flaw it's a lack of setup.
it was partly a design flaw - did you see how high the nut was? but I agree... he should have set it up to see how good he could get it to play and sound. would have been much more informative than this half assed review.
agreed, and maybe play it semi-clean. i feel like anything can sound grungy.
The cheap guitars of today are miles better than the ones I came up with.
True dat.

Dude, this is expensive
that amp costs 3500 euros in europe :D
Cheap guitars can be made playable with precise fret leveling, nut upgrade/filing, bridge upgrade, pickup upgrade, tuning peg/machine head upgrade, potentiometer and input jack upgrades, and proper setup.
so, replace everything but the body and neck then?
Also, add some strap locks and pickup cavity shielding. Most of the parts aren’t too expensive, even higher end components. The real investment is time and energy learning how to do it right with the right tools.
Mike McKeen
Exactly. Bahahahaha. But can be done ad hoc over time, depending upon which components suck most. Might be more efficient to just buy a completely new neck with the right length/radius and bolt it on.
You mean, replacing the whole thing for another guitar? kkkkkkkk
ablacon64
Still less expensive than buying a $1,000 guitar with inferior setup. The tradeoff for doing it yourself is time over money, however. Once you learn how to work on a cheap tinkerer, then you can build custom guitars or maintain the ones you care about most without being at the mercy of overpriced techs. Every guitar player should know how to optimize their tools.
Awesome video, man! Looooooove the ETID shirt! \m/
Thanks for the great video! I just ordered a fully loaded Strat style pick guard off Amazon! It’s coming from China, so we’ll see what happens!
This prooves 80% of your tone is amplifier and speakers
and 9% pedal effects. the guitar itself has about 1% to do with the sound. and that 1% is in the strings you put on.

"lets see if its in tune... (horrible sound ensues) close." lmfao good stuff. Made my morning.
Just bought a Squier Affinity Strat in mint condition for $60 at a pawn shop. Still had the plastic on the pickguard . Put the Tusq nut and string trees on, polished the frets. I like it a lot.

They make guitars for a thousand bucks and a shoutout
felipe soto was going to say I assumed he would be reviewing Chapman’s junk.
Ok Keith Mesa yea so. They’re made terrible. Get a nicely made guitar for the same price.
Now the cheapest guitar on IKEA.
iLσσng™ cheapest guitar in Walmart
I mean... it was a 4 piece body
It not the worst tone I've heard.
Sabaton is the worst tone I've ever heard though
A Wild raging Sabaton Fan appers in near future
Alkali
In my experience about 99% are really kind towards other opinions about Sabaton.
My point has always been, we're different people, we can have our own opinion over things like music.
w00dmii5t3r Im a Sabaton Fan myself. It seemed just pretty obvious for me that someone will feed the Troll, what didn't happen. In fact I was just joking. ;)
I love how the retailer hiked the price after you linked it XD
Lol
How was it?
You didn’t do some sick whammy tricks. Disappointed
The trick would be he goes BWOOONGGGG and then its all fucking out of tune because this is 75$ and fuck no is that gonna be an in-tune trem. They even locked it down from the factory cause they probably know LOL
The bridge was locked down
This was my first guitar lol in purple
Mine was green burst, its great........for 80$
Well you gotta start with something lol
"lets see if it's in tune". *strums 6 pieces of glass* "close"
Aqrol ...yeah, that got a chuckle out of me...
I bought my Cort G110 brand new for $150 and it was very much playable and most surprisingly it was in almost tune when it reached me
1/2 mile high action, and back of neck feels like a chopstick. Sounds perfect to smash at the end of a gig! Thanks man.

Not sure why I wasn't subscribed, but I am now.
So what I get out of this is, it is better to buy a mesa boogie and a cheap guitar.
Its badass
best part of this video is that you said pho correctly. Thanks for that.
I don't know why it bugs me when people say it wrong, but it does.
Cheap guitar+Line 6 + sampled drums= Rock music!
