Speaking as someone who has very rarel endured what happens for these guys I am dumb struck at the preparation. It is obviously so important to prepare for all eventualities; and then plan for failure and then do it all again. Such a hardworking couple grafting to survive. Coudos to them for effort, determination, success and raising a child at the same time. They absolutely deserve mor subscribers simply because, content is honest, no BS, not riddled with adverts. Love them to bits.Much more honest content than som othe Alaska or Canadian popular channels in myy view.
You go girl!!! It takes a strong woman to live this lifestyle. You and Cody make a good team. It’s good to know if he’s away you can still take care of necessities for the family. I’m 64 and I can’t tell you how many times whole mowing the lawn or shoveling the drive I’ve had men slow down as they pass my house. I’ve offered the shovel to a few but not surprisingly containers lol.
Great job cutting those rounds, splitting them and stocking the woodshed. You’ve always been a very hard worker and never chicken out on new tasks from the start. Am impressed and know Cody would rather be outside if he could. Thanks for the great video.
No need for a gym, best workout. Amazing job Lori. Hope Cody is healing. I'm too old to do the splitting but wish I could. You are an awesome couple with a princess baby. Stay strong and enjoy
Lori, you should be so proud of yourself! Over coming your fear of the chainsaw and the snowmobile. You handled both very well. This is why the two of you will be successful in this life.Keep up the hard work and stay safe.
You did a great & wonderful Job. Don’t forget to pickup all the bark that fall off of the wood it is good kindling also. The Sawdust is good source of covering for garden in your high tunnel over winter & it will breaks down over time if you add to it. You can put some around your fruit bushes just not up against the trunk it self make a swell so it’s like high on on the outside then sloping down the bing as you go so you can’t rote the roots. It’s good fertilizer as much as your sawmill. You could use it for chicken bedding & nesting boxes love y’all Channel.
You are a beast Lori , and I mean that in the most awesome way , I spent much of my life as a bush ape , you , are indeed a rare woman . High performance woman are complicated . 😊
Looks like heavy wet snow you are shoveling to get more firewood from behind the house. Then the wood is heavy also. What a job you have . Stay strong and no injury to get everything done. Im glad to hear you have used a chainsaw. I havent just little saws. See guys. Sge tucked her hair in under her hat.
Great video Lori, You have come along ways, I love that your out busting ass to get done what you need to get done, sometimes, things happen for a reason, Cody getting hurt and your stepping up BIG TIME !! It takes two to make it right !! as they say, !! and I love the layout of your property, where the house is and your woodshed/mill/storage, and the greenhouse! It just all works !
Great job :) It's always nice to stay a year ahead, Yes you can plan ahead or cut wood in bad weather the awesome life off grid :) You handled that saw pretty well 👍, Now it's learning to sharpen ! The logs on the ground it you break them lose & roll them up on the snow or other logs when you cut less chance of hitting the dirt your saw will stay sharp a lot longer :) Great video, have a great weekend"
Lori you are amazing. Remind me of a (much) younger me. I used to split the wood, (had a very stressful job, and it was good way to relieve the stress), hubby collected it. Lovely to catch a glimpse of the eagles. Looking forward to next video.
Way to go Lori, great work girl, you need to invest in a log splitter for next year. Hope you are all doing okay and Cody's wrist is healing well. Doesn't matter about the tasks that have been stalled due to the wrist break, they will be done when they are done. You all being safe, cosy and warm is the important thing you have your beef, moose and fish you caught from summer you are good to go for the winter. Love your vlogs.. Merry Christmas to you and your lovely little family xx
👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Cody prayers continue for your healing and I know you already know this....but you got a "keeper" in that woman you got👍 Merry Christmas to you guys🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
You are such a hard worker! You're a good wife & mom too, or so it seems. Do you ever worry about animals sneaking up on you while you're outside, especially at night?
@ awesome! Good pieces of equipment. I was back and forth that or a tractor and ended up with a tractor because I found a great deal but skid steers are work horses for sure!
Glad you added some traction, I was concerned about you slipping. So is that a couple of weeks worth of wood? It's been about 75 years since my chores required me to stock the wood box. No need for paying for a Gym membership .... love it. I can still walk my 3 to 7 miles a day ... keeps my sugar levels down.... haha. Like the way you both cover for each other. See you next time. Happy chopping.
The pile of moose innards seems pretty close to your homesite. Aren't you afraid they'll get comfortable on your property? Especially with your dog having free range? Also, know eagles are aggressive. They've attacked many dogs and children. Happens a couple times at least every summer in Homer. Full grown retriever size dogs and toddler. Be careful.
Young and impulsive. Gotta think every action through. You can get away with cheating injury 50 times but the 51st can do you over. This family is extremely fortunate to have incredible neighbors. Additionally they have really lucked out not getting huge snow drops yet. Winter has been mild so far except for wind.
You did an awesome job Lori. I pray Cody's wrist is healing. Merry Christmas!

You are such a hard worker! You're a good wife & mom too, or so it seems. Do you ever worry about animals sneaking up on you while you're outside, especially at night?
It’s not as bad now that we have more of a clearing, and the dog keeps a good eye out for us.
Keep your chain out of the dirt,it will dull the cutting edge .
Nice job Lori. Such a good team. Just curious, Do you guys have any thing needed for the little one? Don’t see anything on the gift page.
I have one
I think you need new blades 😂
I don't know if you guys have a harbor freight up there but they have a electric chainsaw sharpening tool
Awesome job! Did you guys buy a skid steer? If so awesome! And congrats!
Got it just days before our first snow that stayed. Haven’t been able to use it much yet, but it will be a huge help this summer.
@ awesome! Good pieces of equipment. I was back and forth that or a tractor and ended up with a tractor because I found a great deal but skid steers are work horses for sure!
Sorry I missed it somehow. How did Cody break his wrist? Did he need pins, etc.?
Crashed the snow machine. Had surgery and had a screw put in. Have a couple more months of healing to do.
@@remotelifealaska Yikes!.I hope it heals ok. You folks take care
Skidsteer did I miss something?
We never mentioned it, but we got it just before the snow and have not had a chance to use it yet.
What size splitting moll do you use?

That will last a few weeks when it’s really cold. We are not in the negatives currently so it should be a month and a half likely.
That good Moose meat keep you fit
🎄👍♥️
❤❤❤❤❤❤👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Get rid of frustration... splitting wood
Be careful.
Your husband could sharpen your chainsaw with one hand.he could also stack wood with one hand
I believe he is watching their baby.
your hair hanging loose is a dangerous combination wiyh a chainsaw
Her hair in under the hat. She is doing a great job
@@nanscott3362 I commented before she tucked it up. good job !!!
Go Seahawks!
That looks like a Cody ax. Maybe too long to muscle it.
I feel like Cody was not cut out for Alaska life.
Young and impulsive. Gotta think every action through. You can get away with cheating injury 50 times but the 51st can do you over.
This family is extremely fortunate to have incredible neighbors. Additionally they have really lucked out not getting huge snow drops yet. Winter has been mild so far except for wind.
Idk, but imo 47 minutes of cutting firewood is just not interesting.
If having the wood is life or death as it is in Alaska when you have a wood stove.
@maryhall6584 you have no clue.
