Dude, why do you specify Toyota products for this fix? Every Toyota and Lexus factory hatch strut or hood strut I have done uses a circlip inside the ball socket. I have to remove the strut mounts along with the struts and then either replace the ball mounts or grind away and the strut sockets carefully in order to reuse them. When you go to buy struts, look at the images and you’ll see that some strut purchases include the ball mounts. I love your videos, but this one will be misleading for a large number of your viewers with Toyota products.
Both my Sienna and 5th generation 4Runner have the type of ball and socket with retention clip that is shown in the video. My 4Runner has this type both front and rear and my Sienna doesn't have hood struts. I have no intention of misleading, after I do some research I will change the title if need be.
