If ND lost to Northern Illinois rt now instead of earlier in the season, they wouldn’t be in the playoffs. The early mistakes are often forgotten about by the committee.
I agree but to a point. I think it’s important to note those losses earlier in the season, but if it happens before a huge winning streak the point is basically moot besides using it as a point for seedings in the post season bracket
The problem with this argument is it assumes a team in early September is the same product as late November. ND’s offense is night and day since the NIU loss. If ND played NIU this weekend they’d win by 30+

Is ole miss Tennessee's biggest competition for a playoff spot? I'm gonna go with the logic that Florida beating Ole Miss would help Tennessee get in more than anything
I think all teams should be seeded like a baseball playoff where all teams from one conference are in a group and play eachother and have one team make it to the semifinal. Each conference has one horsese in the semis.
I don't believe it's in the best interest of Ohio State to "dust" Indiana... hear me out... if they could beat them by 30, why should they? It would potentially knock Indiana out of the playoff and open that spot up to a much tougher matchup IMO. AKA a Tennessee Vols team that nobody really wants to play in the playoffs. Ohio State should beat Indiana by a comfortable 10 points and then really rev their engine if they get them in the playoffs. That would be when they should beat them by a 30+ margin - IF THEY CAN. Maybe Indiana is who their records says they are and they come out and blow the doors off the Buckeyes.
