Right at the end, NBC Sports threw it over to NASCAR's 2005 UAW GM Quality 500. This is an infamous race among NASCAR fans because of Goodyear tire failures that night, rivaling the 2008 Brickyard 400. Crazy that NBC broadcasted two famous sporting events back to back.

Leinart to Jarret on 4th and 8 was the most clutch college football play I've ever seen. I remember jumping up and down after that catch. I just knew USC would score a TD after that!
One of the main reasons why this game was so great to watch was because of NBC. If this were on ESPN/ABC their annoying Commentators would be bugging us all game long!
Well if it was on ABC back then it would have still been great because ABC Sports was still around. Even ESPN was good back then. Only in the late 2000s when ESPN became about themselves rather than sports did it start to go off the rails. Getting rid of ABC Sports, an extremely valuable brand with 50 years of built up equity, was also a monumental mistake.
Still can’t believe they didn’t stop the clock when Leinart was tackled and the ball was very obviously knocked out of bounds. Smh that guy (the time keeper) caused a lot of unnecessary chaos.
I’m just now noticing that during 4th down and 9(obvious pass situation) Leinart still took the snap from under center. The game has changed lol. This game is an all time classic.
Only flaw this USC team had was defensive back play....other than that they were unbeatable for the most part. Any of these recent alabama teams wouldnt stand a chance against this USC team Reggie Bush was a man amongst boys.
USC lost 2 1st Team All Americans and 2 3rd Team All Americans in DTs Patterson and Cody, and LBs Tatupu and Grootegoed in 2004. No Team can Lose 2 All American DTs, and an All American MLB and OLB and get better. To say the secondary play (which did suck compared to 03 and 04 USC) was the only reason is wrong.
H Smells I don’t know about the 2017 Alabama squad, but the 2018 Clemson and 2019 LSU teams, yes. Those two were easily the two best college football teams that we’ve seen since the 2001 Miami Hurricanes.
This game was instant classic 10yrs ago well known as The Bush Push for Reggie Bush pushing Matt Leinart into the endzone for the game winning touchdown
Hey HEAT1996, you are uniformed. No one affiliated with USC paid Reggie Bush. Reggie was with USC already into his 3rd season when an outsider approached his dad. They collaborated to attempt to get reggie to sign with new area sports managment when reggie turned pro. This guy could care less about reggie playing for usc or not. There is alot more to the story which i not bother explaining to you. You just sound so ignorant throwing out stupid comments like that. Most of SC's roster were from SoCal and have always had USC on their radars. Fight on!
Yeah after years of not watching I can finally watch it again and respect it to be a great football game. But at the time I was heartbroken. I don't know which was worse. The Michigan State loss earlier that year or this one?
I think just because this was #1 USC on a 27 game winning streak and all the hype surrounding it, this was a worse loss to swallow. The MSU loss and the way it happened really lingered too though.
rtrumble Yeah I think your right also I remember all the hype surrounding Charlie at the time on campus and everybody thought he would lead the Irish back as being relevant again even after his first season I thought he could still do it since it was his only first one. But that never worked out.
One of the best game I watched back then, both teams didn't disappoint. ND defense slowed USC down when most thought that loaded offense was going to be too much for ND defense

Everyone knew they were going to run it. I am sure that people were exhausted there after this game. I still like watching this game every now and then. I was at the Bama and Texas a&M game in 2012 and even though we lost in a good game it was a honor to see Manzel play in his prime.
I've got the entire game in HD, I should upload it soon.
Damn I watched this senior year in HS. Seems like yesterday and this vid looks so retro LOL
Yep! Lol
I've been on the internet too much. 40 seconds in and the music playing in the background is giving me flashbacks of that naked russian dude dancing to Pirates of the Caribbean.
Reggie Push!!! Ahahah greatest game I’ve ever seen as a kid! Fight on baby! ✌🏾
I love that Notre Dame was wearing the navy blue jerseys for warmup and then switched to the green before they came out for kickoff
That luck ran out though.
Thank goodness for the 4th and 9 play.
Awesome. Thank you for uploading this... incredible game.
It felt like time stopped when the ball left leinert hands on that 4th & 9
Man please... Did you feel like that when Alabama crushed Notre Dame?
one of the greatest college football games of all time
2 timeouts used on that last drive and they don't go to commercial. Now that's the football I grew up on. Can barely stand today's work in as many commercials as humanly possible mentality.
Leinart to Jarret on 4th and 8 was the most clutch college football play I've ever seen. I remember jumping up and down after that catch. I just knew USC would score a TD after that!
I wish those specific green jerseys were Notre dames standard home jerseys they are so awesome
It’s July 2024 and here I am.. reliving one of THEE greatest college games EVER!
This game & ironically USC vs Texas was the best college football game I have ever seen.
Tommy Zs punt return was one of the best ive ever seen. Talk about determination. Get offff me he said
And at least 2 non-call illegal blocks in the back
The Top Game of the Greatest Day in College Football.
I hope the USC AD is home watching this! We need to get back to greatness! This not Cincinnati! ✌🏾
The analyst Pat Haden ended up becoming the next AD for USC after they were handed probation. I dont know if he still is.
Why you bring up Cincinnati.?
Ah the infamous 'Bush Push'
Yawn. Everyone does that now
@@northwestprof60 yawn. The ball should’ve been placed at the 2 when Leinart fumbled.
Congrats Reggie on getting your HEISMAN back‼🏈🎉✌🏽🦾
holy shit this game is finally uploaded. thanks a lot!
Still can’t believe they didn’t stop the clock when Leinart was tackled and the ball was very obviously knocked out of bounds. Smh that guy (the time keeper) caused a lot of unnecessary chaos.
Holy Christ that 4th and 9 conversion to Dwayne Jarrett are you kidding me?
This 05 Trojan team is one of the best teams ever
2004 also
College football was so awesome back then. Today's game cant even compare
THE 2nd best game from THE greatest college football season of all time USC v Texas was the BEST game of that season.
Wow, thanks for this. Thought i'd never find this
I’m just now noticing that during 4th down and 9(obvious pass situation) Leinart still took the snap from under center.
The last three national champs 2019 LSU, 2018 Clemson and 2017 Bama would beat this USC team.
H Smells no they wouldn’t they didn’t have the defenses to stop USC you’re out of your mind and using recency bias.
H Smells I don’t know about the 2017 Alabama squad, but the 2018 Clemson and 2019 LSU teams, yes. Those two were easily the two best college football teams that we’ve seen since the 2001 Miami Hurricanes.
This game was instant classic
10yrs ago well known as The Bush Push for Reggie Bush pushing Matt Leinart into the endzone for the game winning touchdown
Best USC team money can buy.
+HEAT1996 Haters gonna hate.
By the rules: this game wasn't played :)
Fight on!
Haha.. Nice point. This game wasn't played and Notre Dame still lost.
they had a better defense but usc should have beaten Texas if it wasn't for reggie
One of the best college football games I've ever seen. Wasn't happy about the way it ended, but legendary nonetheless
The MSU loss and the way it happened really lingered too though.
rtrumble
Yeah I think your right also I remember all the hype surrounding Charlie at the time on campus and everybody thought he would lead the Irish back as being relevant again even after his first season I thought he could still do it since it was his only first one. But that never worked out.
Penn state and Michigan had a great game on the same day as this game
can anyone tell me why nbc got rid of this opening theme music?? i miss it so much!!
As a ND fan this was a great game wow
ماشاءالله عليك اتمنليك توفيق ناشاءالله👍👍👍👍💝💝💝💝
One of the best college
games ever
One of the best game I watched back then, both teams didn't disappoint. ND defense slowed USC down when most thought that loaded offense was going to be too much for ND defense
This game was epic..
Any more USC games from this year ? Love watchiing this team
SC and Pete had the greatest football dynasty since SC and John McKay.
Bobby Bowden would like a word... and shouldn't a dynasty win more than 1?
@ericdaniel323 LOL. 14 top 5 finishes in a row and only 2 of 5 NCs to show for it. A losing record to every Cane coach with a NC, count em 4.
Wish NBC was still like this
I’ll never forget watching this game. Unreal game and so awesome to rub it in the Irish’s face
Most thrilling spectacle I've ever witnessed.
Thank you for UL one of the most unpleasant memories of my life for reasons beyond the actual final score that I will not get into here. However, I'm happy as fuck that this game, at the end of the day, didn't actually count in the record book, or at least according to the NCAA.
Classic game I remember watching this game in 2005 when I was 13 years old at the time
Both team uniforms are awesome
It blows my mind that USC didn’t even consider the field goal.
This was probably the best game I ever saw.
And 2013 iron bowl kick 6!
