That has to be the best intro for any game I’ve ever seen, oh my goodness!
That halftime show was pretty wild too for 1990
I am with you, I watch this intro at least once a year and two or three times if it strikes me right.
The disrespect this video is getting with barely any likes or comments. And people forget about the REAL 🐐 Sal Aunese! Brings a tear to my eye every-time I watch this. 😢 Go Buffs! 🦬
Relax homie.
Wow!!! Longtime Nebraska fan here. Sal Aunese, what a tragedy. Thank you for bringing sal to the forfront
Sal. What a story. One of those stories that’s almost too unbelievable to be true. It took one more year but they got that natty for Sal. Never liked classless Holtz after the things he said.
Classless? Why? What did he do? Just curious, really.
Dang, phenomenal quality. Thanks for uploading. Go Irish! ☘
Man NBC need to have their football covers like this now. This classic music, I remember when I was a kid this was like larger than Life every New Year's so serious Charlie Jones calling the fiesta and the fiesta bowl , and Dick Enberg calling the Federal Express Orange bowl. And Don Criqci.
To put ND at that moment into context, the Irish were coming off of having their 23-game winning streak broken against Miami on that same Orange Bowl in the preceding game, which was the last game of the year.
The previous year against Miami, and in mid season against USC, ND got into a pregame fight in their tunnel. So ND admin told Holtz that if his players ever got into another fight again, there’d be serious consequences. Holtz said that he’d resign on the spot. So in the Miami game, when the Hurricane team came out to midfield for the coin toss and challenged the Irish to meet them, Holtz held them on the sideline. ND players hated that.
So when the Buffs came out to midfield at the start of the game, and the Irish players awent out to meet them, let me tell you, it was emotional for ND fans! We loved that!
football used to have a soul and used to be really amazing. it's so sad what happened to it
Amen!
Do you realize that people watched this game back in 1990 and complained "Football used to have a soul and was amazing. Now looks what happened to it" ?
@@TheMrSuge I was there then and that's not true.
Hey Putin!
Nostalgia is a heck of a drug lol
Lou. Holtz. Rocked miss these. Days😢
Also want to add that I agree with the comments that NBC (and broadcasts in general) really did a magnificent job of capturing the spirit of and magic of the big games. The intro music and the legendary commentators. Made you feel like you were there.
Special team, all the crazy surrounding Prime need to go back and watch this team and the next year one as well. Will be the best team they ever had and prob ever will.
I was at a good friend’s house, a legit ND family in IN, watching this. When the teams bucked up prior to game, I said it looked as if someone spilled a box of bb’s. Everyone laughed.
Thank you Bobby Bethard giving away whatever competitive advantage Colorado might have otherwise had by revealing it.
I miss when broadcasts were like this: about the game. No stupid pointless entertainment that had nothing to do with the game itself or shameless plugs of its prime time lineup every 10 seconds
You sound boring lol hush
lol. There’s literally a stupid, halftime concert in this game. Nostalgia bias fail
@ I was talking about the game itself. Halftime isn’t part of the game. Plus there’s always been shows at halftime at both the college and pro level for as long as anyone can remember. Response fail…
in a game that literally feels like it happened last night I say RIP TO Dick Enberg, Bill Walsh, Ralph Wiley.. One other goes unmentioned
RIP to the juice as well… let it go bro, he’s dead now.
@ your entitled to feel that way..No rest in peace for that butcher
Love 90s college football..@21:41😅
This was the last time Notre Dame won the Orange Bowl, I say was because thanks to what happened last night it no longer is.
Barry Alvarez would leave ND after this game, to become coach at Wisconsin
When college football was immersive.
the rocket reversal is art,people...brings a tear to my eye 2:01:50
Free TV was the BEST. Haven’t watched a bowl game since. Free the JUICE.
Today's transfer heavy no conference football sucks
Notre dame wasn't in a conference were they?
Miami got a title thank u
Yeah next year
Sko Buffs! 🐂💨
We’ll if ND had beaten Miami they would have won the National Championship, Miami deserved it.
You could argue in a million ways why Notre Dame should have been National Champions, but we cannot get around the fact Miami beat ND
The thing is Notre Dame didn't even have to play Miami that season. Their schedule was tough enough that they could have scheduled a cupcake instead and gone undefeated and therefore would have won a National Championship.
@@christopherhazel2837 literally no one could beat Miami at the Orange Bowl back then. ND basically had an impossible task. With that said, I understand why Miami was crowned champs. As it is, ND then deserved the 1993 title. Either way, ND/Holtz should have had two titles; 1988 and either 1989 or 1993.
Nice to see THe Juice on the sideline. Wonder what happened to him
I cheered for Notre Dame in this game. This gave UM their 3rd Title.
Colorado was really good but then they went liberal and it all went to hell after that
The RUclips comments section used to be really good.
Then everybody decided they had to post political commentary on every video, because they think people care, and it all went to hell after that
@@TheMrSuge awww I'm guessing you are. if you haven't noticed the time of npc's is coming to a end. either stand up or go to sleep
RUclips was good, until conservatives ruined it
@@wellitsherenowwell I just don’t care and if you care then your what’s wrong with this country like I said one day some Brit will walk up to an American and they will ask something simple like when was slavery abolished 1780 by the way and that guy will say slavery never existed and when that day comes it will be the day the world will laugh at us like never before.
@@Aokoebor lol. That was the dumbest comment I have ever seen and I've seen alot
When college football was great!
