@@apostolosannis198 I don't have the full show, just the one track and interview as broadcast on the Whistle Test. But I do have masters of three other long TV shows from 1985 onwards
Mistake/revision in the track listing: After the encore Track 17 is called “Murder She Said” and then they go into Track 18 “The More I See...”. It’s this way on their album Waiting as well.
great music like this is timeless as long as one has good taste, but it is all opinion, a lot of people agree with you so im thinking they agree that it's no longer absolutely amazing which i disagree with, superb timeless music just like the other bands he was in, just like faith no more, just like UB40, Madness e.t.c.
What we heard of The Specials and FB3 in America during the early 1980's was really, really, really rare. Tell you what, though. I will never forget the first time I saw the vid for Ghost Town. It fucked me up. It lived rent free in my brain for decades. I saw the vid on some weird local music channel that started to play videos. It was before MTV and I saw that 16mm print with the lads in the car and it had a chilling effect on me. It was after school in the mid-afternoon that this vid show was on, just in time for the kiddys to tune in. It was so random. It fucked me up. RIP Terry Hall. Long live The Specials and FB3. This music was so different from all the 80's synth crap and still has an effect on me in 2023.
Yes, we didn't get to see all of these shows performed in other countries back then because the internet wasn't like it is now. We were at the mercy of MTV, Night Flight, Hollywood Heartbeat, and some other programs here and there on cable, or what you could scrounge on VCR tapes, bootlegs, compilations, etc. HBO ran some of these groups' videos in between movies, that's how I got turned onto Madness and Ska. MTV really did a pretty fair job of exposing many great bands, especially with their 120 Minutes show. Of course, there was also college radio.
listening to Well, Fancy That for the first time never made my heart drop faster. At first I was really enjoying the beat, thinking how cool it sounded. And as soon as I processed the first lyric I instantly knew what it was about, and genuinely slapped my hand over my mouth in surprise. Never had a song effect me so strongly before. Gosh.
These guys were cutting edge before there was a cutting edge. Brilliant. I was stationed in Germany in the early eighties and we were band from this concert. Told we would be punished.
Such an amazing concert, I was still very young but always loved the fun boy three "Tunnel of Love" was always a favourite & "Gangsters" such talent everyone of them.
I love this. Dedicated shout to Caroline Lavelle on cello... just found out she also played on Durutti Column's 'without mercy' album! - her playing is consistently superb (and her hair is EPIC - makes Terry's look like a crew cut)
She also played for a short bit with Siouxsie and The Banshees before FB3. There is a clip on RUclips of her playing Overground with the Banshees and Robert Smith on guitar.
Great to see this blast from the past, thank you. Dont know how Terry managed to get through performances of Well Fancy That though! I had no idea he went though that trauma. Still can't believe Terry's gone but so glad I got to see The Specials in '19 and Terry DJing a few week later. Off to see Neville Staple's band soon and Roddy Radiation and his Skabilly Rebels are the support... the music lives on. Happy celestial birthday tomorrow Terry.
Well, this turned up on my feed! Straight to my TSFB3 playlist. Looks like I’ll be watching this soon. I was 12 in 1983. It’s so good to have archives! Lifelong fan of The Specials and Fun Boy Three👍🏽
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Sugoi ! FYea , Xcellent Post - a Massive FB3 nut since 82 - met some of the original Specials band but never Terry ( respect ) . This is valuable history & such an incredible concert , Arigato for this post !💗
Was 12 in 1983 only the cool kids followed these with Japan and the beat and suzie and the banshees the rest of us followed Duran Duran and wham only saw the specials in the early 2000s and can honestly say they were absolutely amazing and now Neville is not well aswell hope you get better soon and can come back touring you were such a iconic part of a generation without the justification!
Things we do is such a good tune and should have been their 3rd single of the 2nd album.Real shame Terry left to form The Colourfield because the FB3 would have topped the charts sooner or later
Please does anyone know the name of the tune that starts the encore, before More I See? Thanks STV for preserving and uploading this amazing performance.
He did it again!. I was a big Specials Fan way back in '79. And then didn't follow Terry Hall with the FBT. So I am more than excited what the gig in Germany (Rockpalast) was like. Thanx a lot!!
Ok. Here is my Wishlist: C86 first: The Vaselines, Pastels, Shop Assistants, Jesse Garon & The Desperadoes, Soup Dragons & BMX Bandits early stuff, The Wishing Stones (!!) and so. And 2nd: Jesus And Mary Chain early stuff, Orange Juice, Edwyn Collins, Roddy Frame, Aztec Camera. I focused on scottish acts in this post :-))
The only bands I don't have are Jesse Garon and The Wishing Stones. I have video by all the others and have already uploaded video from Shop Assistants. I have some Pastels and BMX Bandits ready to be digitised full concerts from 1994 and 1995
@@ScottishTeeVee Yeah, I see. I have some of your stuff :-). Looking forward for the Pastels and the Bandits...I was meant to go on to the Pastels gig 1989 in Oldenburg (northern Germany) but then it was cancelled due to illness of some of the member. And they never toured Germany again :-(
@@ScottishTeeVee these Rockpalast concerts are great quality recordings. i also did save some on video tape and it's been a great alternative if you haven't been able to go there in person
It was Terrys birthday that night I recall and the band and audience sang happy birthday to him. I was in row a. There is an excellent for it’s time audience recording if the gig which I sadly lost decades ago
So under rated. Yet someone come along from a manufactured plastic band created by Pop Idol & other programmes like them who don't play instruments get more credit? There not bands. Bands form themselves.

Do have any Madness , March 83 either Dominion Theatre or Lyceum?
RIP Terry Hall , an absolute legend
Another Calvert fan with taste :)
I was a bit too young to appreciate this stuff at the time. But today, I realise how ahead of its time it was. Cheers.
RIP the great Terry. Loved FB3 at the time.

What? Why?
Such an amazing concert, I was still very young but always loved the fun boy three "Tunnel of Love" was always a favourite & "Gangsters" such talent everyone of them.
Fun boy Three is where Terry showed how his vocals were flawless and his lyrics were second to none. Ub40 are the only band to come close.
Well fancy that is chilling, knowing that it happened to him for real, RIP Terry, i still can't believe you've gone😢
That's exactly what I was thinking poor Young Terry do you know the name of the song?
Rest in peace Terry ❤🙏

Back in 83 the boys were still being followed by the 2Tone fans. Rightly so imo. Terry was a fantastic frontman. 🤜🤛

I saw this tour, she not only added a distinct element to their sound, she was quite striking onstage. Her hair was amazing
Her hair should be studied by scientists.
