Kincaid’s kick is among the best in the world, but I’d like to see him maintain better contact with the leader before unleashing that kick. Maybe since it’s still so early in the season he didn’t quite trust his fitness there at the end. Amazing start for both guys, though. I can't remember a race where my legs went to jelly on the final 200-300m. Lost many race because of it, always in shock and awe when I was passed by guys at what seemed to be 2-3 times my final sprint speed. Never knew how they did it and sadly had no adequate coaching. Female coach preferred to further the ladies progress. Men's squad left to learn for themselves. Such was the gender equality of an Irish school in the 90s.
No internet, so no google for tips on nutrition amd traning. Teachers who didn't give a shi7 which was sad as we had some natural talent in our male squad. I was running 2m05s in 800m when I was 12. Friend of mine was jumping 7.50m aged 15. My PB 800M Ended up being just 1m56s in the all ireland final, placing 2nd aged 16. Randomly I someone dropped out of the shot put, I finished 2nd in that too lol, and 4th in high jump. 3rd in Tripple jump behind my friend who also failed to imrpove further after 15+16yr olds.
I envy the American professionalism, which appears to take hold in schools at an early level, spotting talent and early on and providing professional guidance and training for development. Of course, this may not be the case at every American school, but judging by High School and especially College events The professionalism is already years ahead of Ireland and the UK, Europe probably too.
