      I feel bad for players who bought it and then sadly got in their ship and realized you can't take off.
      That has to suck. Getting pumped to just immerse yourself in space and just flying and you can even properly explore like you want. Hopefully we get a single player game like NMS with a story and RPG mechanics

    A few moments from my gaming year. Realizing that Tears of the Kingdom had three maps, not just one, to explore. And in Octopath Traveler 2, the final act where you face the final boss. In the second phase of the fight, you battle the boss with all eight travelers, and it is just the coolest feeling ever.

      @TheFreshSoundsFlorida it definitely does. It's still fun, but I'd agree if you said it doesn't really belong in the game. Tbh I do have a lot of complaints about Alan Wake 2, but I still love it for what it is. It SHOULD have been better but it's still a good game.

      It’s there because it was Alan’s idea of reminding himself who he was since he’s been stuck in The Dark Place for so long that he was forgetting himself. It’s also a reflection of his inflated ego and how it got him there in the first place.

    That AW2 level was pretty good, but there is another crazy scene late in the game with the Old Gods of Asgard playing a live show while you fight that I think tops it. While playing it, I was literally thinking how I've never played anything quite like this and how freaking awesome it is.

    The venom mechanic should be the next big thing. It would be quite fun in games to control the bosses in a scene before a boss battle. Not only would it give you ideas how to fight them, but if done right make them all the more intimidating too.

  • @1003JustinLaw
    @1003JustinLaw 8 месяцев назад +5

    Horizon's Horus fight is the one thing that gave me the spark I needed to run mega huge monsters in my D&D game. Before, I was always hesitant to bring in truly enormous titanic enemies for my higher leveled games, because even though you have a legendary sword that's not going to do squat against Godzilla if his outer carapace is like 100 feet thick, but that fight scene gave me the ideas I needed. Instead of the giant beast squaring up against the players, it is wading through the set piece, each time its turn comes around the entire battlefield changes, every one of its titanic steps are sending shockwaves across the land, opening ravines and fissures in the ground itself, and the player characters will have to keep pace somehow. Instead of hacking numbly at the beast's stone-like skin, the player characters are rolling to hit weak spots in the creature's skin, sites of old wounds, ancient weaponry stuck in its carapace from a long forgotten era, the gaps between its armor plates where its titanic blood vessels carry the nutrients to repair its body. Eventually, the characters must find a way inside the monster, where instead of facing the monster as a whole they are facing the monster's immune system, the parasites or symbiotic organisms that live within the beast, that seeks to either block the characters' way or are just seizing an opportunity. The more time the characters takes fighting off the immune system, the more defenders the immune system sends, until eventually the trillions of immune cells would overwhelm them, so they must work fast, killing just the ones in their way and making their way deeper into the creature's system, until they can take out the creature's core, or cores, such as its heart's pace-making nerve bundle, its brainstem's connection to the spine, the central part of its brain that regulates all muscle movements, and so on. Of course, the insides of the creature itself is an alien and hostile environment, with blood rushing with the force of a tsunami, and body temperature soaring to such a degree that even stone starts to melt. I ran this game with my most experienced player group using their level 18-20 characters, and four out of seven died by the end, though they did slay the beast, and they tell me that it's one of the best high-level games they've played. Oh yeah and for context, the monster in question measured 3 miles from nose to tail, and stood nearly 1000 feet at the shoulders, so not anything that's normally found in D&D games.

    • @wr5488
      @wr5488 8 месяцев назад

      DAMN there were some great moments scattered about. Wasn’t a huge fan of the game the first run but damn the finale of the 2nd and entire 3rd were great.
      Teaming up with Rusty and the reveal of Iguazu were so good!
      The Iguazu thing had me thinking really hard. Because right before the reveal we can learn there’s one other mystery pilot AND someone told Iguazu where to find and ambush you during Snail fight. I figured out that ONLY Ayre and Allmind would know at that point, so I kinda guessed it would be Allmind. That being said, the final fight caught me off guard.
      Really fun fight too. I love how his mech is strong as hell but not really piloted that well. Like in the final phase he’s gonna annihilate your health but he’s kinda easy to evade. Made it seem like the last ditch efforts of a guy that’s going down.
      Whole 3rd run was really smartly done.

    My honorable mentions:
    in Assasin's Creed Odyssey when you're on the starting island, you're not particularly impressed with the size but it's decent, and I spent a good 20 hours doing side quests and exploring before I decided to continue the story, just to have the map open up into an entire world, probably one of it not the biggest maps I've ever played in a game.
    Days Gone, similar situation. I played idk how many hours, and when I took the trek up to the snowy mountains I thought the story was pretty much wrapping up and he was going to ride off into the sunset (maybe I just didn't pay attention to the story as closely as I thought I did). NOPE. Turned around and slapped me with a whole nother map. I was only halfway through the game. Literally half the map had been blocked off. I had no idea this was coming as there was no greyed out area or indication that there was more because the map just ended at the borders.
    These may not be mind blowing to most people, but they were for me at the times of playing them.

    I know it's been covered in another video, but my favorite mission sequence of all time was in Titanfall 2 with the switches between time basically with a "snap" and the ending of that mission where everything explodes into a frozen time-space as you walk the pathway into, what I can remember (it's been a while) some kind of portal. For its time at least, the whole concept was amazing, and the graphics were just amazing. I wish for a Titanfall 3 on a consistent basis. Even if just a campaign, I'll take it. The campaign was arguably better than the MP anyway IMO, not that the MP was bad at all.
    Edit: when i first played it I got flashbacks of I believe it was Time Splitters 3, can't remember exactly, but that mission where you played like 6 versions of yourself in one mission, playing each role and then shifting into time to replay a role to basically coop with your past self. That was mind blowing at the time, and I still wish THAT game/series would come back, as a remake or even reboot the series. I loved those games too.

    That scene from Mortal Kombat at 9:33 reminds me of Jet Li's The One movies ending scene.

    The NG+ in Starfield is definitely cool, but I still couldn't really bear to play through it again :/ and getting the different variation¨s of the world would require playing so much of it.

    The end of starfield was surprising. Regardless of how you feel about the game but the new game plus I felt was very well done. One of the few things they got right. 😂

    I skipped the SM2 and Jedi entries, as I havent played em yet, but that Horizon one was so cool to see. Only played the first game, but its made me wanna pick up the sequel now. Cool AW2 one too, reminds me of Control a lot

    The mashup characters you fight in MK1 gave me unwarranted hope for a really cool kustomize option that the game doesn't actually have.
    What was a real plot twist for me was hearing Johnny Cage say one of his own movies was bad.
