Hi I have a 20 year old S90. Fantastic car never any problems except servicing which of course can be expected. Anyway to cut it short my wife passed the local dealers and there was a new 2O17 there. We arranged a demo. Well I put it through its paces........result I am keeping my old girl the new one does not even begin to compare.
Best car ever. I have a ‘96 960 with less than 150,000 Kms on the odometer & it owes me nothing. Regular, proper maintenance & it’s good for another 6 months. I get so many compliments on my 960 & frequent offers to buy it. Nothing doing. This is the last car i will ever own. I love it. I predict the 960 RWD will become a true collector car.
Same here, I think that my 960 from 1996, which I bought this summer, will be my car until the end of my life. True old school classic - real wheel drive, manual gearbox, incline 6 free breathing petrol engine and stylish body design that attracts attention nowadays.
Know all about those Cleveland winters... I had a 740 for 4 years out here and the fishtailing was "fun", LOL But I'm in a FWD Volvo and except for some ice sliding when I brake, it's been all good
love this car. my son has the same car, i have worked on it alot. it was beaten up when i got it, now in alot better shape. my has about 230,000 miles and i have got it in excellent working condition. i had my transmission replaced by a buddy at a wrecking yard for $650.00 i would have bought this car for at least $3000 beat up ones sell for $2500 -up with over 130,000 miles. these motors go for 400,000 miles if taken care of
I got the v90 wagon. Same year, same color. Good car. Had it going on 4 years now. Just about all the lights are on on the dash but my attitude is similar to yours. It is nearing its end so I am not going to fuss over it. I'll simply push the envelope and see how much it can endure.
I had a mint burgundy 95 Volvo 960. I loved that car! I sold it only because it started to nickle and dime me. But I Kid you not, not one dent, scratch, stain or tear.
Near the end of the video you mentioned 'there is c company that sells motor mounts for putting a V8 into a Volvo. Would you mind sharing the name of that company. Thanks.
just let my... 960 go because it needed a very expensive a/c repair. wanted to take care of it but it didn't take very good care of me. bought an s60r as a result.
Noukz37 not necessarily, I sold it to someone local who actually recognized me from RUclips who himself is a Volvo nut. He's probably taking care of it better than me. Check the comments!
Nice cars overall, but just too unpredictable and costly to maintain. I've had 850s and it's the same thing: cheap, junk plastic and so many parts that need replacing every few years.
These are far more reliable than the 850s & the interiors held up better, 97-98 were the best years. I've only had to replace the driveshaft because the original vibrated, which cost me $75 from eBay, I replaced all components to the crankcase ventilation system ( everything totaled to about $80, water pump was $20, both front control arms totaled under $90, timing belt was $15, and the purge valve was $35. All that was was done over the course of 2-1/2 years. Apart from that it was only needed oil changes. Of the 12 cars I've owned since 2010, this was the least inexpensive to fix and upkeep.
Didn't you say in the video that your torque converter also went bad? It's great when you can do your own maintenance (which keeps the costs WAY down), but these cars do need a lot of attention. Not everyone can just drop a transmission and call it a day. While I'd agree the 960 is definitely better than the 850, these both were generally problematic compared to the real tank in Volvo history: the 240.
+VideoAmericanStyle it did and it was the reason why I sold it. It's not an expensive fix as it's the same 4 speed transmission found in RWD Toyotas & Lexus, so it's not a Volvo issue. If I had my own place with a garage with the proper tools like I do now, I could've fixed the car for $200. At the time I wanted something else and someone ( who was a local RUclips follower ) really wanted to buy the car as/is as he was familiar with the procedures and was able fix it himself.
btw, toyota a340s don't get as bad a rep as the volvo ones. i think their software is different, because there seems to be less trouble with the toyota boxes, especially when they're tired. must say, this car looks so fucking beautiful. i have the same thing, 1997, but with a manual, and in lesser trim, but mine has a lot of battle scars)
This car is now mine! Picked it up today and I love it. Once I get the torque converter issue fixed, it will be my "warm months" driver.
Hated seeing it on the flatbed but it sure looked damn good.
How is the car holding up
+Intechdude300 you still have it

What fuel grade ⛽ do you use in your 960?

The interior of this car is definitely that of a 700/900 Volvo but it has a lot of elements from the 850/70 series... very cool
The ”tweeters” in the b-pilar are probably vents for the rear windows so they don’t get foggy.
Know all about those Cleveland winters... I had a 740 for 4 years out here and the fishtailing was "fun", LOL
But I'm in a FWD Volvo and except for some ice sliding when I brake, it's been all good
How I wish I could be the one to take this car off your hands! One of the last boxy Volvos, I hope whoever gets this car is able to keep it this nice.
these were not boxy...boxy stood for the 200 series cars.
@@nasticanasta no, boxy stood for the 140 series, 200 series, 300 series, 400 series, 700 series, 850 series and 900 series.
It's a swedish car, winter is not a problem ;)
nice video!

"Such an old car" :D I drive a '92 240.

You can get 300K to 500K miles out of the car if you take care of it. I've had mine for 18 years.
Fuck you asshole Itza modern car and game
thats my dream car, im still looking for a grey one in good condition feels like they are hard to come by nowadays
Best car ever
NICE 1998 Volvo S90 Review - 2 Year / 20,000 mile Update
Shame they didnt keep it a little longer as its just a renamed 960 but still, the last rwd volvo model made.
I had a mint burgundy 95 Volvo 960. I loved that car! I sold it only because it started to nickle and dime me. But I Kid you not, not one dent, scratch, stain or tear.
I had one and i loved it.
the 2001 Subaru Forester GT in Australia has side impact airbags too
One of the nicest cars they ever built🤤⚓️🍁💕💕💕
So basically the s80 took over this car?
How many people owned this car?
I own a 97 960...all I drive is Volvo.
Such a cool wheel
You should see what this thing looks like with a wide-body and a spoiler. It's beautiful.
In retrospect I wish that I never traded of mine in.

Yes, when the VOLVO S80 replaced the VOLVO S90.
Can you please tell me what camera are you using in this video?
I believe it was a Sony a5100
Near the end of the video you mentioned 'there is c company that sells motor mounts for putting a V8 into a Volvo. Would you mind sharing the name of that company. Thanks.

every 960 needs a costly a/c repair, though😂😂 my 94 960's evaporator leaks very slowly, so I just fill it with freon once a summer and I'm set
its just got a short somewhere it's still sitting
Завидую у кого есть вольво 960
You may have said it in the video, but is this vehicle FWD? RWD? Or AWD? Sorry, could have missed it in the video haha
He said it was rear wheel drive. Just so you know.
He also said 1998 was the last year Volvo made rear wheel drive cars.
coolcats101234
thanks
nice
That was a waste selling that car... No replacement for a car like that anymore!
Noukz37 not necessarily, I sold it to someone local who actually recognized me from RUclips who himself is a Volvo nut. He's probably taking care of it better than me. Check the comments!
do you sell your car?
If this had a manual...
how much do u want for it?
I'm currently asking $950 for it
Damn not bad price for how nice it is. Too bad you live so far away.
+Intechdude300 Wow, so cheap! In finland these cars are 2500+ and in mint condition like 5k :O
