There is no spring, at least the one I have. There is a metal cylinder. God help you if you get a cartridge stuck there. I had to take a cork screw of a pen knife to dislodge it.

This is a superb pen. I am using a Medium nib which veers to fine. It is a hard nib and is not very smooth but smooth enough. It is very durable and takes international cartridges. Takes a Faber Castell convertor, there is a metal cylinder inside the barrel which prevents use of standard cartridges. This pen will outlast you if taken care of properly.

I would be a bit concerned about quality of the white outer sleeve of a box. In previous videos the sleeves made louder sound! :)

It seems on par with the Pilot Kakuna. The Kakuna had a more chiseled grip, while the Writink sports the spring clip.

I have come across springs in barrels before, namely the Cross Aventure. It made using Cross' own converter impossible. You had to remove the spring to use a converter.

I've got a FC Loom in my collection...but I don't use it much - is it the nib? Is it the style? Who knows. Although apparently you like the pink, I'd probably go with the blue or white or black...not so much the pink myself - not judgy though, it's a pretty pink if you like pink. I gave a pink pen to my girlfriend - she liked the pink. And my niece, she liked the pink too. I must say though...EXCELLENT review of your favorite pink pen. :-) I may have to pull out the ol' Loom and give it another go. Thank you for your time Dr. Stephen!

The thumbprint rubbed off of my black pen within the 1st month of using - if anything this improved the look of the pen.

I think the fingerprints are some kind of sticker material which they attach on the barrel. I had a tiny string come off, so the finger print is incomplete as of then.

As always Doc Stephen... Your ACE. Thank you for the review of a quite affordable Faber-Castell but I don't like pink, my ink pond only has one pinkink in it which isn't used that much as I don't have any pink friends anymore. The finger print was unusual and wonder how well it shows up on the darker pens. I always find it amazing how you don't get distracted with Azizah doing her things in the background because you can hear her doing whatever... btw that is only an observation not a criticism don't take my comment the wrong way please.
Is the professor going to be visiting any time or the other friends, Mr Cuckfield, he's not visited in ages, maybe he and the prof could get together over dinner sometime if their schedule isn't too busy.
Will you consider doing a personal Q&A about how yer doin in your new location now you've had time to take your coat off and put the kettle on.
Pen... I do have a Faber-Castell e'motion which is one of my good pens and it's under consideration as a dedicated pen for the new Tomoe River Enigma journal I've just aquired... 300odd pages great looking journal and as I say the e'motion is high on the list forrit.
The Writink looks like a decent student pen to have and could replace some of the other student type pens under consideration. $29 is a decent price which guessing, is about 23/24 £ thereabouts.
So, thank you again and best wishes.
Best wishes as always to all pen people.

Sir, is the nib comparable to the one in loom? Thank you. I like the loom, but it is a bit heavy and being a metal grip, I think this one would be perfect for me. Also between Kaweco perkeo and Faber castell writINK, both in medium nib what would you prefer?

Thanks for the review, Stephen. The fingerprint is a neat idea, but let me tell you, it starts to come off with very little use. And from my conversations with the folks in the B&M shop I purchased the pen, I know that this is a common complaint. I love Faber-Castell nibs, and the F on my WriTINK did not dissapoint. I totally agree with your comments about the section. The section seems to be the weak point in the entire Faber-Castell line-up, except for the Ondoro.
