My FC Neo Slim with F nib dryes out in few hours (capped).
On the other hand, pen is marvelous. Not too wet, perfectly balanced, writes with no pressure... It is the most natural pen for my writing style! So I always have the glass of water on my desk, just to dip the nib a little bit before I start writing. It helps to resolve the hard start problem. Sadly, this pen is not reliable enough to take it with me when I'm going outside.
But still, it is worthy!
Guess I'll try brushed Lamy Logo one day. Fell in love with how it looks, it's slim as Neo, and I've never heard that someone mentioned 'hard start/drying out' problem with that one.
The ink on my nib does not dry, but thanks for the tip. I haven't gone beyond three days. I'll leave it for a week and see whether it'll dry up. Thanks again for the information.
I have the same pen. I've substituted with a converter instead of a cartridge. I mainly tuck it between pages in my notebook. The pen works well, and I am happy with it. The ink I usually use for this pen is Pelikan Blue 4001. Thank you for your review!
Can you tell what converter i can use
I have this pen, I love it. But I recently switched to Diamine Vintage Copper and now it’s hard starting. I attribute this to the ink, I heard the particular ink tends to get crusty. With previous Diamine ink (Blue Velvet) it flowed perfectly.
I have got the same fp. I tried with both blue and black ink (pelikan 4001 cartridges) and I noticed that if I don't use the pen daily with the black ink it gets dry, on the other hand it doesn't happen with the blue ink. Idk if it is normal or not, but I recommend to use blue cartridges if you use pelikan ink.
Hey Mick...🖋 I have a few of the comparison pens.....The Sheaffer Agio is a favorite in this size category. I must like them, I have 4. 😹
I loveeeeeee this pen. But it’s prone to hard starts, which is very disappointing because when it writes it’s very smooth and enjoyable.
Try the Muji fountain pen as it is very similar except it only comes in brushed aluminium but it never fails to write.
I am new in this fountain pen world, and thus, I am sorry if my upcoming question may be stupid: do they provide replacement for the nib? If so, which nib is suitable? I am planning to buy the Neo Slim series, and I cannot find the right nib in case it is broken.
Any recommendation on its body coat- i have one but now it looks ugly with its coating ‘chipped’ off.
Thanks for this, very nice as usual. This pen is one of my favorite daily writers, inked constantly with Noodlers Dark Matter since the day I got it (over a year ago). I have not had a single chip or scratch evident in the time I have used it (though admittedly I take very good care of my pens). Very smooth (medium) nib - but it's not supposed to have any flex, and it has none. Another commenter mentioned hard starts and I will say that my Neo Slim and ALL my Faber-Castell pens except my E-motion have the same issue. I believe it is a less than airtight cap liner, so that if the pen is not used for say 3 days, the nib has dried out a bit. A design defect not specific to this model. But not a problem really if you write a lot, like I do. I will also say that I have always liked my bigger pens, but this very slim pen is so comfortable that I started using slimmer pens quite often.
Yeah, I bought it for its looks and it converted me to slender fountain pens.
I have a couple of chips, but they are not visible. My nib is fine, and the ink on the nib does not dry even though I haven't used it for days. I think it depends where and how the pen is kept. Thank you.
How is the writing different from the Faber Castell Writink
I have this pen and I find the nib very very stiff. Much stiffer than other FC pens like the Ambition or the Grip. Did you also find it very stiff to the point that makes it not so comfortable ?
I like stiff and fine nibs, they're great for drawing like a manga pen or dip pen
Hey Mick. Can you please do a review or unboxing video on Paperkraft pens
I’m not familiar. I will look into it
Okay Mick. Thank you
A nice pen but I prefer the girthier hexagonal.
US price seems reasonable for a metal pen. It is a nice pen - love the black.
Looks similar to the Japanese Muji fountain pen.
I'm asking for a recommendation between Faber Castell Neo Slim or Pilot Kakuno ?...... please
They are such wildly different pens (including price point) it would be hard to recommend between the two without knowing more about your preferences in terms of size, material, nib, ink etc. Both are excellent pens on their own right
Presumably the feedback and dryness you report in this review are to do with the fine nib rather than the pen itself? In your older comparison between it and the Lamy Logo, you didn't report any such issues. In that video the pen was fitted with a broad nib. I am torn because I really love the design of this pen but certainly do prefer a wetter, smoother writing experience to one that is anywhere approaching scratchiness - which is what it did sound like in the audio.
The Lamy CP1 might be even closer to it than the Logo.
Yeah, it is. I just dont have one to show.
As I started watching this video I thought to myself "phh yeah, another snobby brand name. I'll never buy somehting that comes from a company that flaunders their brand about." Then I took a look at my pencil sharpener, and lo and behold it has "Faber-Castell" written on it.
I've always used their gel and ballpoint pen, their erasers and pencil sharpeners.Actually surprised me to learn that they also make fountain pens too.
@@damearstor2120 started with there Pitt pens, went to pencils, then to fountain pens.
He would be a doctor
This pen is great but friction caps are always such a big turn off for me. I'm willing to pay slightly more for a screw cap. The quality is worth it
