I'm basically in the early stages of a Tim Burton obsession and will watch everything he has made, all his interviews and basically study the life of this genius.
This is so beautiful and wonderful. I love how he gets so intense in his fantasies and then his mom disrupts him and is like "go play like a normal child" 😂
I love the mom scenes. When Vincent is talking to himself and looks like hes about to spiral into madness and insanity, his mom cuts him off and tells him to play outside.
When Vincent Price was asked what he thought of the short, he said that it was "the most gratifying thing that ever happened. It was immortality - better than a star on Hollywood Boulevard."
He sounded like he was laughing and enjoying himself during the narration. Made me smile. Imagine narrating an animation of yourself and reading « you’re not Vincent price » and explaining how deranged he is as if it’s not You 🤣 I would be laughing too
I can just imagine the look on Tim's face when his idol agreed to read his story aloud for this. totally a dream come true twice cause Vincent was the inventor in Edward scissorhands.
Fun fact Vincent Price was also originally gonna voice Santa in The Nightmare Before Christmas however due to his poor health after the death of his wife he was unable to play the part.

its not sad, this is all an exaggeration in vincent's head. his mother send him to his room, and he says that he was banned to the inescapable tower, etc. hes just an edgy imaginative kid
It's ironically sombre, because it's all just play, but really gruesome dark play with no friends around. The sadness, if there is any, is that Vincent is a child out of time - he's the wrong age group for the things he enjoys, doesn't properly contextualize the meaning of his favourite milieu, because of his lack of life experience (his 'beautiful wife' existed in his mind only to be a victim, so as to engender more pain; no sense of relationship or person at all) - and the ultimate tragedy is that Vincent seems to actively reject the company of others (and sunlight) in order to continue his favourite game. But, outside of the game, after The End, it's Mum who will restore universal order. There's actually a really beautiful and uplifting lesson in this film.
After all these years I still love this so much. I was a lot like Vincent as a child, I was very dramatic and had a very active imagination. And I loved reading Edgar Allen Poe also.
Then you might know that the Ravens football team was named after the Raven. When the former owner moved his team to Baltimore he renamed them that because Baltimore is where Poe is buried

Tim Burton us honestly one of my greatest inspirations for art. I love creepy art, I love the shock factor that can be achieved through art/storytelling, it's amazing!
It’s so cool to see early works of artists. Little conflict with producers etc. and we can really see their minds run wild on their canvas. It’s art at its purest form.
Nothing brings as much joy to my dark little heart than hearing my most beloved actor reading a work by Tim Burton referencing my favourite author Poe! I love Vincent Price so much and sometimes it sounds like he is smiling while reading. This is a classic and so cozy to listen to ❤
I do too I found a DVD at the dollar store with "the last man on Earth" one of my favorites of his. It's in Black and White but if you love his work you won't care.
I remember the first time seeing this. I was in art class and my teacher wanted us to see it. It creeped me out the first time, but now I kind of appreciate it more.
This was the most creative and also the creepiest thing I’ve ever seen. One thing (among many) I love about this film is that it was obviously an homage to Vincent price. But then Tim was able to actually get Vincent to narrate his film. 👏🥰
SUCH AWESOME STORIES! Burton makes amazing tales that scare and inspire me. What is ironic is, I like creepy stories that are appropriate but I HATE horror movies and urban myths
Use of colour and Lighting (Vincent): Tim Burton's Vincent uses the stark black and white colour scheme to emphasise the character’s internal journey. As Vincent’s character moves from brighter scenes to darker ones with more pronounced shadows, it can be seen as a metaphor for the transition from innocence to a more complex, troubled, state of awareness that comes with growing up. The evolving of lighting reflects Vincent’s changing understanding of the world around him.
Lol my son is exactly like this. Maybe it was my horrible obsession with Edgar Allan Poe while I was pregnant with him lol. Been coming to this page for years I had to have put at least a million dents on this vid. 😍😘👌🏼
I remember my first time seeing this. It was a bonus feature in the Nightmare Before Christmas collector set, and I was instantly in love with this short film. I memorized the entire thing word for word and told it to my friends, to their delight. Was a good film then, still is now
My favorite short of all time. I relate very much to that vivid, macabre imagination as a child, almost blending fantasy with reality. Tim Burton is a genius.
Vincent Price’s enunciation is so good that the auto-generated captions from RUclips are mostly accurate, which is impressive cause this audio is old and a little fuzzy.
I love this so much! There are so many things that relate to his future films! Like the black cat reminds me of Coraline, the jack in the box scene reminds me of nightmare before Christmas, Abercrombie the zombie dog is frankenweenie, and Vincent Malloy looks like a younger version of victor from corpse bride! I can tell that this film was and probably still is his pride and joy!
I'm reading a book that he wrote about himself .Burton on Burton. Anyway, he said he just likes using the same imagery. Like cemetery's, skulls even line patterns and such. He is brilliant! Freaking amazing. Love his work! I am into the same kind of art and understand the way he thinks (on some levels)
I remember this short clip it always came up before The Nightmare Before Christmas Played. Oddly enough I found it more scarier than the Nightmare before Christmas. This was one of ultimate Childhood clips
This is most likely what Tim Burton's childhood was like.

Vincent Malloy is seven years old
He’s always polite and does what he’s told
For a boy his age, he’s considerate and nice
But he wants to be just like Vincent Price
He doesn’t mind living with his sister, dog and cats
Though he’d rather share a home with spiders and bats
There he could reflect on the horrors he’s invented
And wander dark hallways, alone and tormented
Vincent is nice when his aunt comes to see him
But imagines dipping her in wax for his wax museum
He likes to experiment on his dog Abercrombie
In the hopes of creating a horrible zombie
So he and his horrible zombie dog
Could go searching for victims in the London fog
His thoughts, though, aren’t only of ghoulish crimes
He likes to paint and read to pass some of the times
While other kids read books like Go, Jane, Go!
Vincent’s favourite author is Edgar Allen Poe
One night, while reading a gruesome tale
He read a passage that made him turn pale
Such horrible news he could not survive
For his beautiful wife had been buried alive!
He dug out her grave to make sure she was dead
Unaware that her grave was his mother’s flower bed
His mother sent Vincent off to his room
He knew he’d been banished to the tower of doom
Where he was sentenced to spend the rest of his life
Alone with the portrait of his beautiful wife
While alone and insane encased in his tomb
Vincent’s mother burst suddenly into the room
She said: “If you want to, you can go out and play
It’s sunny outside, and a beautiful day”
Vincent tried to talk, but he just couldn’t speak
The years of isolation had made him quite weak
So he took out some paper and scrawled with a pen:
“I am possessed by this house, and can never leave it again”
His mother said: “You’re not possessed, and you’re not almost dead
These games that you play are all in your head
You’re not Vincent Price, you’re Vincent Malloy
You’re not tormented or insane, you’re just a young boy
You’re seven years old and you are my son
I want you to get outside and have some real fun.
”Her anger now spent, she walked out through the hall
And while Vincent backed slowly against the wall
The room started to swell, to shiver and creak
His horrid insanity had reached its peak
He saw Abercrombie, his zombie slave
And heard his wife call from beyond the grave
She spoke from her coffin and made ghoulish demands
While, through cracking walls, reached skeleton hands
Every horror in his life that had crept through his dreams
Swept his mad laughter to terrified screams!
To escape the madness, he reached for the door
But fell limp and lifeless down on the floor
His voice was soft and very slow
As he quoted The Raven from Edgar Allen Poe:
“and my soul from out that shadow
that lies floating on the floor
shall be lifted?

I do too I found a DVD at the dollar store with "the last man on Earth" one of my favorites of his. It's in Black and White but if you love his work you won't care.
You my dear have excellent taste
I remember the first time seeing this. I was in art class and my teacher wanted us to see it. It creeped me out the first time, but now I kind of appreciate it more.

This was the most creative and also the creepiest thing I’ve ever seen. One thing (among many) I love about this film is that it was obviously an homage to Vincent price. But then Tim was able to actually get Vincent to narrate his film. 👏🥰
Rip vincent price. The only man who could make me smile during a depressing poem 😁

SUCH AWESOME STORIES! Burton makes amazing tales that scare and inspire me. What is ironic is, I like creepy stories that are appropriate but I HATE horror movies and urban myths

I love this short. One of my favorites!
Use of colour and Lighting (Vincent):
Tim Burton's Vincent uses the stark black and white colour scheme to emphasise the character’s internal journey.

When you love this piece of art so much you get it tattooed on your leg ❤

I love that I found this for no actual reason!
I remember my first time seeing this. It was a bonus feature in the Nightmare Before Christmas collector set, and I was instantly in love with this short film. I memorized the entire thing word for word and told it to my friends, to their delight. Was a good film then, still is now

Nearly 400 people need to be a part of Vincent's wax museum.
Such a magnificent short film! Really wish I knew more of these kinds of shorts!

Tim Burton, you are a genius.
Everyone wants to be Vincent! :D
Once in a lifetime creative genius i tell you. Tim burton is a legend.Getting Vincent Price on this was also amazing.

Tomorrow is Christmas? To hell with that. Here's Vincent.
"Touch some grass bro."
- Vincent's mom.
😂😂😂
He did, he even wrecked the garden
I love this so much! There are so many things that relate to his future films! Like the black cat reminds me of Coraline, the jack in the box scene reminds me of nightmare before Christmas, Abercrombie the zombie dog is frankenweenie, and Vincent Malloy looks like a younger version of victor from corpse bride! I can tell that this film was and probably still is his pride and joy!
Tim burton didn’t make coraline
Dieses Video begleitet mich schon 17 Jahre. Ein faszinierendes Kunstwerk.
2:07. What a terrifying shot !
Tim Burton's autobiography
I'm reading a book that he wrote about himself .Burton on Burton. Anyway, he said he just likes using the same imagery. Like cemetery's, skulls even line patterns and such. He is brilliant! Freaking amazing. Love his work! I am into the same kind of art and understand the way he thinks (on some levels)

I had no idea one of the Chiodo brothers (Killer Klowns from Outer Space - 1988) worked with Tim on this! That's so cool! 😸👍
I remember this short clip it always came up before The Nightmare Before Christmas Played. Oddly enough I found it more scarier than the Nightmare before Christmas. This was one of ultimate Childhood clips
Yup that's Tim burton alright. O___O I wonder what a Star Wars movie would look like if he directed one?
I watched this often as a child :')
Vincent Price is the spiritual father or millions of monster kids, and it was very kind of Tim to make this documentary about our childhoods.
