I’d love to see a tb nation duck boat build featuring a surface drive or long tail motor. Most of duck hunting guys are stuck like bass fisherman, either spend 25-50k on a duck boat or run a Jon boat.
Yes another banger to watch while im working on my tracker! You and Tricked Tins has given me the confidence to work on anything currently outboard off steering and wiring getting re done and no decks on the boat 😂 a lot to go
Yesterday I bought the aluminum transom for my 1648 and maybe later i can install some of the boxes ya'll make. You make it look easy! Keep up the good work and making me have a vision for my jon boat.
Following this build for sure! I've had my last fishing trip of the season in my '86 Lowe Big Jon and am getting ready to rip the decking out. I did the decking myself after I bought it new. This'll be the third deck configuration it's had.
Nice! I see you have a space between the front deck and the console. Have you given thought to extending the deck to fill that space and adding more storage?
Hey Mike I heard you mentioned you can’t use a lithium battery for starting? I was wondering why because I’ve been using my 12 volt battery for going on 3 years and haven’t had a problem,it’s only a 20 horsepower and it’s use the gas motor often
I’m thinking about trying to build a rod locker for my bass tracker. Is 1” angle aluminum and 1/8” or 5/32” rivets strong enough in your opinion? I’d like to be able to sit on the lid also at times. Thanks for any advice you might have.

I'm going to be enlarging and rearranging the deck and seating on my fisher sv 16gt this winter. I'm going to essentially make the bench seating a split jumpseat with the driver as a permanent mount and the rest of the seat to the left hinged to tilt forward for access. My question is there a premade cushion/seating premade that will allow the seat to sit flush on the supports?
Why do you use pop rivets and just welding it altogether I don’t like rivets they always come loose and you always gotta get a hammer on one side and a hammer it on the other side and beat the hell out of it that’s bad news to me been there done that that’s why like welded it
I have never tried it, but it wouldn’t be the worst thing to do. My fear is that it rips pretty easy and if the phone pushes against it hard enough during the expansion that it would just burst through.

I think that’s a fantastic idea and we are going to move on it
Can’t wait for that video to hit
I really love the boats you create Mike… thank you for sharing your videos!!
Blessings!
Thank you very much!
Brilliant Job Mike 👍👏

Great to hear!
It’s looking good!👍👍👍👍

Thanks Jason. It is actually very easy! It's out most popular system because it's so easy.

Sounds like my boat!
Cant wait to see the next video great job! Love it!
Thank you so much!!
Excited to see how this thing turns out. Much love from IL.
Thank you!

I have a ‘89 Bass Tracker Tournament TXS that needs this done in the worst way. Especially transom and back deck.
Check out our kits! tbnation.net/products/1648-jon-boat-weekend-warrior-kits. we have transoms as well.

I specifically left it open so people can put coolers and back packs around the area without cluttering the walk way.

Hey Ken. Yes, they don't recommend you do it. Some of the newer outboards have lithium - compatible alternators. Most do not.
@@TinyBoatNation thank you Mike

I would hate to get a hole in one of these boat build. How are you gonne get to it and fix it ?
Do those screws flog out over time? Id prefer to weld the frame or at least bolts with penny washers
No, There's no real issue after everything's put together. If you ran a large outboard with excessively high speeds, it may become a problem later.
For when you put the aluminum on the floor are you riveting it to the boat ? Or are you welding it I'm confused? Wouldn't it leak if you rivet it?
What aluminum welder do you use working on the framing?
MiG/spool gun
How many amps/brand?
What welder are you using?
How much weight did all that add ?
Minimal. It’s very light.
I see you putting rivots all over below the water line. How does this boat not leak?
I did not put any rivets below the waterline unless they went into the ribs
I have a 17 and a 1/2. tracker to rebuild it. What would it cost me?
A conservative build will be between 3 and 5000 depending on how deep you go in

Rivets are OK for the frame. The hull, not so much.
I would suggest aluminum tape instead of duct tape

@@TinyBoatNation good point I was thinking about the weight savings
But how fast does the lite skiff go with a 6horse outboard?
5-6mph with a 4-stroke. Maybe more with a 2-stroke. They seem to be more powerful.
