- As my fabricating skills have been improving, I felt I needed something better than these year(s) old prototypes in my inventory.
I needed a new War Doctor sonic for a costume I put together. So that came first. Then I wanted to to put together another 11th/12th sonic before I finish some commissions.

www.etsy.com/s... tested out a new laser engraver on some parts I sent him. He was able to get the prototype parts to me a week or so ago, so I knocked out the custom blue 12th. Its based on a build Nick Robatto completed back in early January, I think. It blew my mind when I saw it. So naturally I had to try to make one.

I did the frost technique on my 11th & 12th doctors sonic replica,and I must say it was stunning compared to the regular led

+Vito Jurado Wand Company's 12 doctors extending sonic (universal remote) is a wonderful, VERY high quality replica. And it is substantially cheaper than anything CT sells.
It's exceptionally good quality for 1/10th of the cost, and actually has a real use.
Vito Jurado can you tell me the problems with zinc if there is any? for instance, im afraid of the metal scratching, the paint rubbing off of it like the plastic toy, and possibly breaking.

***** I would too. But etching/engraving a cylinder is a tough thing to do with home equipment. The bars work cause they can be laid out flat even though they have a slight curve.

The "little symbol" is the Gallifreyan symbol. And the custom sonic screwdriver was the one that Peter Capaldi as the doctor in season 9 gave to davros and never took back. When the doctor went into the room with older davros he was holding the doctors sonic screwdriver, or a prototype of trying to make his own by fiddling with the doctors. And he made it blue and black and grey.

can you please tell me all the components that make up the 11th sonic (not the outside parts or the sound module if it is separate)... basically just the connect on between the switch and the emitter as I am making a custom sonic soon, for my time Lord character?

And also either where do you buy the blue Middle tube and the blue top or how do you make them? Because I saw that you had different color tops in the back ground like blue green brown black. Two answers: Yes. I saw a guy on RPF that painted his CO toy sonic to look like Nick's.
And I make the different colored emitters and columns from pen blanks. Its what they make fancy pens out of. You can shape it like wood, but you kinda need a lathe...

These are pretty nice, but I personally think the 11/12th is a little too tight, and the emitter lens is supposed to be milky green. Otherwise, nice sonic!

Ive always wanted to make my own sonic screwdriver, but I don't have the machinery or skills necessary. I'm a concept artist, so I have some cool designs, but I don't know how to actually go about making them

Patrick Mcguinness I already have another in the works! They're a team effort and Jerry does the Gallifreyan for me at his leisure. I want to do a green, and a purple version before going back to blue. Being my first "limited" edition screwdrivers the ones I don't keep may go to auction.

Also How long does it take you?
You could easily spend over a hundred on the raw materials to make any style custom, hundreds more on tools... but you can reuse those.
Some I can finish in 2-3 days if the cards fall right. But they come out better when I take my time. Others can take 2-3 weeks.
A 'new' design can take a month of trial an error before I'm happy with it. Programming new electronics is also a full day or two.

On the 11th/12th doctor's sonic screwdriver how'd you get the led to light up the tip
Austin Dibler The LED is in the very end of the inner slide rod. The rod travels up through the lower part of the emitter so that only the tip lights up.

On the bars sure. They come off if you unscrew the socket head screws. I know a guy that'll etch them ;-)
