If leaving your Jag on jack stands for more than a couple months. I would disconnect the rear trailing arms from the body mounts or if that location is to hard to remove you could disconnect from the hub. With the suspension hanging you will damage (crack / tear) the large bushing. Don't ask how I know (lets just say the brand new ones I installed never saw service). Keep up the good work Bob appreciate your videos.
Future video suggestion should you ever have the opportunity: A how to in swapping up to XJ40 like (maybe XK8R) hub carriers.. and if the toe bolt can be used in the X300 & up carriers - when swapping to both stronger hubs and outboards. I know the hubs aren't 100% identical to the late XJS outboard hubs, and of course there's the park brake issue.
I did this job 2 days ago! We must have been doing it tge same time. I had a feeling.... As far as lower pin seals are concerned I swapped to lip seals, like skf11124. Rubber lip seals would work even better
Very useful as I am rebuilding the rear end of my Cobra replica. By the way, both of my hub carriers are cracked…. 15 K miles with 600hp Under the hood!!!
I might have said this during the video but it's my view it's a result of shrinkage after casting rather than stress. Most of these cars haven't been driven very hard and the fact yours are cracked and haven't failed probably attest to the fact the cracks aren't necessarily fatal. Unless you continually abuse them behind 600HP.😉
Do you have a parts list of bearings and seals? I have my IRS finally disassembled and ready to order parts. Hopefully the next video in this series comes out soon!

Helpful suggestion from rebuilding rear axle.

Bearings and seals typically have a number stamped on them if possible. Anything else will be known by the retailer you purchase your parts from.
Thanks for your reply, it reassures me.
I love your work. Where in the States are you located?
Minneapolis/StPaul area.
